You guys are awesome! Thank you! Great quality videos, easy to follow along and not all that excess filler to take up time a lot of people add. Super helpful!!!
Wish I could pass the kind words on to the other guys but this is a one man show lol. I'm the sound guy, camera guy, stunt double, video editor.....and on and on lol. I do appreciate the feedback and the time you took to write the comment and for watching the video. I can say without a doubt that I have the best viewers!
I have a 2015 GC Laredo and I just ordered a chrome mesh grille for it on. A shop wanted $180 just to install it so I decided I'll take a shot at doing it myself. It's on its way and I'll definitely be using this video along with your front grille and bumper cover replacement video to help me along the way since I've never done anything like this to my cars.
Just follow the steps and take your time. I cant say how the chrome mesh grilles install but hopefully its similar to the factory versions or possible even easier. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Make sure to subscribe when you get time.
Hey guys the chrome rings are COMPLETELY removable without needing to pull the upper fascia or lower valance off. I've done it on my '14 Summit to paint them black. You just have to get some pry tools and work your way around each ring to loosen the fasteners. This is a common mod on srt Jeeps of the same 14-15 year so just search it.
Car battery masochist Many thanks for that added info and tip! Glad to see there is more then one way. Make sure to subscribe
I had a feeling! I also have a 2014 Summit.
Good job my friend! Very professional, no nonsense. Experience came through loud and clear. Noticed the "BULLDOG" license plate! Lived in NE Florida for 12 years some time ago. Was involved in the GA/FL football game in kind of a small way professionally. As a Sun Devil grad, Class of 1978, most people west of the Mississippi River have no clue what SEC, ACC et.al. is all about! I thought ASU was pretty good and cool to be associated with and a fan. But, nnnooooooooooooo way!!! It would take possibly several generations and more to even sniff the South Eastern football fans if it is possible at all?!.?!. They are crazy!!! But in a good way!!! Cheers.....
Lets go crazy. Can I replace the whole front section of an old JGC (2012/2013) model with that of 2015 model?
I don’t know. I would want to say yes but never done it myself so I can’t be 100% sure
The twist it the trick!
Hey buddy thanks for the video. 😇 you Jesus I didn't have to remove the bumper I just snapped them off from the front on my 2015 grand Cherokee altitude it had only taken me 20 minutes to do it..Thanks any way for your help..
I have the same car and want to do the same thing. With no instillation skills I am hesitant to try it on my own. Any tips and thoughts or should I just bring it to a shop to get done?
David, can you get your hands on a Ram Rebel & put it on a lift, I want to see that trans cooler they put under the transmission, & maybe you could tell us why they put it were it will get full of mud & road salt.
+Paul Wicklund Paul....are you speaking of the 8 speed transmission? We haven't gotten a Rebel in yet so I am assuming your speaking of the 9 speed. The cooler for the 9 speed is on the side of the trans. If you speaking of this cooler then you have to keep in mind that its not a fluid to air type cooler. Its a fluid to fluid cooler. It uses the coolant system to help cool the trans fluid directly at the transmission. Its not affected by mud/dirt for example. I wish I had one to look at and when we do....I certainly will to see if its the same type of cooler that I am thinking of. Thanks for the question Paul
Will this be the same procedure for 2018 grand Cherokee altitude? Thanks
How to remove bezel around fog lights
David, can you show how to change outer chrome without removing the bumper
I havent been able to do it on the vehicle yet. I am worried about breaking something. Removing that bumper cover isnt the hardest thing and goes fast once you know the steps. Thanks for the request and make sure to subscribe!
thank you Dear David
Your welcome and thank you for watching. Make sure to subscribe !
+MotorCity Mechanic i already subscribe your chanel, it's my honored .
Thanks for the video. Do you know or have you installed the front recovery hooks on a 2015 WK2 Summit. The Grand Cherokee Summit front bumper comes with the recovery hook delete version to put in the luxury one on but I need to install them to be able to join a 4x4 club. Any suggestions? I wouldn't mind doing some precision holes on the plastic trim at the bottom... If you are in California let me know... I wouldn't mind letting you do some videos with my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Diesel 4x4.
+Jose Suazo Wish I was in California.....more like the east coast down in Georgia haha. I haven't installed a set of hooks as of yet. I wish I had more info to help you but I don't want to steer you wrong. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
Great video as always Dave I have been following for awhile and you are always very informative. One of my Mopars is a 07 Chrysler 300 with a 3.5. The ignition switch has to be turned all the way to start and forced at the end for it to start. I think it is the ignition acuatator that is bad. Do you have a video on removing the ignition switch from the dash and disconnecting it to get the actuator out any info would be great thanks Dave, Ray.
+Raymond Campbell Hello Raymond. Currently I don't have a video on that. I haven't had one come in the shop in some time for that issue. All the ones I get are the 2008's with the recall currently....they have a different ignition set up. I will try to keep it in mind when one comes into the shop to try and record the repair. Make sure to subscribe if you haven't already so that you get notified when I do upload a video such as that
I have a question that you may be able to answer or not.
On 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Version. do you have video on how to remove the lower grill with-out removing the front fascia / bumper. If there is no video, for what I am asking could you explain the process of removing the lower front grill on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. If you have no knowledge of about on how to remove the part that is okay too. I was just curious on if you knew how.
Thank you
Just sent you an email about the question.
I never received your email.
Sorry, just saw it in my draft box....forgot to click send. Its on the way as we speak
Hey David, do you by chance know how to fix the vinyl wrap around the shifter on the 2014 jeep Grand Cherokee? It started to peel off and i don't want to spend thousands on just replacing the whole shifter setup. Thanks
I havent come across a way to fix that....Im sure if there is a will.....there is a way. Only other option I can think is a used assembly. Surely the shifter knob is avail separately.
Great video! Thank you!!
Your welcome and thanks for watching! Make sure to subscribe and Happy New Year!
Hi David, do you have a video on how to replace the the grill molding part 68143070AD on the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
+Stephanie Rispoli Morning. I currently don't have a video on that. The next time I have one in and I take the front bumper cover off....I will try to film it. I have been asked a few times about that and the lower mesh as well. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe so that you get notified when videos such as that get uploaded.
+MotorCity Mechanic bummer! Do you know off hand if the entire bumper needs to come off to replace this? Or Can i just remove this part and replace?
+Stephanie Rispoli I assume it snaps in from the back side....might be easier to take the bumper cover off to get access to it from behind. Might be able to remove the lower air dam/close out panel on the bottom of the bumper cover and then have access. The service info doesn't give any details on it.
+MotorCity Mechanic great, thanks so much for the help!
+Stephanie Rispoli Any time. Thanks for watching
Do you have a video on how to replace the Adaptive Cruise Control Sensor on the front bumper of a 16 Grand Cherokee?
Sorry I dont. It takes special equipment to calibrate that assembly once replaced and the dealer is the only one that has that.
thank you so much for sharing this helpful video...
+7mzo0oz Your very much welcome. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe if you haven't already
Hey Dave how about removing the chrome inserts/rings without removing the front bumper?
It was fun trying to remove them with the bumper cover off lol. I don't see it being easier at all or even possible. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe and share the videos
David, do you have a video as to how you change the headlamps out or a video link I could go to, to see how to do it on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
Thanks David, I enjoy your videos.
Thanks for all your help on
+Brent Armour Evening Brent. I don't have one as of yet. I will try to keep it in mind for a future video. Thanks for the comments about the videos. I appreciate your following.
I'm in GA too. I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and had two questions for you. How do I remove the third brake light assembly? It is kinda scratched so I want to remove it and have it covered in carbon fiber. Also, I wanted to replace the LED in the side view mirror that points down. Any tips on how? Really love your channel...lots of GREAT info! Thanks. Subscribed!!
Oh..and if you happen to know if the 2017 UConnect head unit will fit nicely into my 2014 and work just fine...I really appreciate it!! Go Dawgs!
Third brake light will require removal of the upper spoiler. I will need to eventually put in on my list of videos to make. They dont make any mention on the removal of the LED in the mirror. I assume its part of the mirror glass. The glass just pops off....you need to angle the glass towards the vehicle and put some fingers behind it and then pull/pop it off. Thanks for watching and keep an eye out for future related videos.
Yes, I want to remove the upper spoiler...can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for the tip on the mirror. Great Channel!!
Your welcome. I wish it was warmer outside so that I could do the repair on my wifes Jeep. Maybe sometime in the very near future.
Man here i am trying to black out my chrome bezales but it looks like its a pain just to get them off i cant balieve i have to take off my whole bumper 🤦♂️
Yeah they were meant to come of easy and for the most part.....no one really ever does. But the bumper cover takes about 15 minutes.....it looks harder then it is.
@@MotorCityMechanic thanks for ur help
@@javim9621 Your welcome
Javi M you can pop them out from the front without removing bumper just start from the bottom about a 3rd of the way up
Can I install mesh grill on 2014 jeep grand Cherokee limited? I see they have the mesh on Amazon but says it won't fit the limited for some reason?
Not sure.....havent tried it myself to see why the difference.
So you think it would work?
Thanks for the video. I might need to do this, I need to replace the horn on my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland . What about the sensors that are on the bumber? I dont want to pull and damage the connections so I'd like to know they are connected. Any help on this would be great. I sent you an email today as well. I subscribed to your channel to see if you have any other great videos. Thanks again.
There will be one connector for the sensors possible on the drivers or passengers side that you need to disconnect and then you will be fine. Thanks for subscribing and make sure to share the videos
can you replace the mesh on the bottom of the bumper on the overland
+bobby charles I haven't tried to remove it as of yet. I will try to pay more attention next time I have one off to see if its possible. I am sure you can....I just don't know the steps as of yet. The service manual doesn't give any info on its removal
Thank you
bobby charles your welcome
Hi do know if 2014 jeep grand Cherokee front bumper will fit, to 2012 model?
I dont know for sure if it will or not. I havent had the chance to try the swap. I did find a forum that metions it. Here is the link: www.jeepgarage.org/f7/2011-to-2014-front-swap-91964-2.html
Can you remove those pieces with bumper cover on jeep??
+Dave Jordan From what I saw during removal.....it doesn't look like it. Its not hard to remove and that way you can get to the mounting tabs/fingers to get them to release easier. Thanks for the question. Don't forget to subscribe and have a safe Merry Christmas
Can i do this on my 2012 grand Cherokee?
The service info doesnt say for sure.....I would think so but cant be 100% sure as well.
thanks
Your welcome Thomas! Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
does anyone know how much a shop would charge me to do this? im not a hands on guy so i rather have someone with experience do it. thanks!
Will V Evening Will. The job should be about 2 hours max. Depending on the shop labor rate per hour.....right around $200.00. In leaning to somewhat less then that but still in that ball park.
MotorCity Mechanic i called a shop near me, they are asking 460 to replace the grill mesh to a honeycomb one, paint the ring trim to black in the front (including fog lights chrome) and the back bezels, and to replace the interior lights to led bright white. is that a good deal? thank you a ton for your reply!
Will V I would get another estimate just to be sure...possibly a body shop if you haven't already just so that you have something to compare the price to. Is that including parts?
We removed that entire front piece (not sure if you call it fascia or bumper) - so we could install a base plate for the Blue Ox tow system. We're trying to put that front piece back on and just can't get the corners to line up and snap in -- afraid we'll crack or break it. Is there a trick to it ? Any thoughts? Ours is a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Any help kindly appreciated.
No tricks that I know of. Situations like that are hard to help with because it becomes a "need to have my hands on it" type deals. Hard to picture in words and also to get the point across.
I replaced my chrome rings with black ones from the outside without removing the bumper and without removing the mesh. They just pop out.
Cool....I will have to try that the next time. Most of the times we just do repairs at the dealer and not may accessorizing gigs.
How did you do that? I don't want to remove the entire bumper! I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.
Any idea about how to replace the liftgate trim piece over the license plate (light bar assembly without camera-55079268AL) on a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I actually have a video on a Dodge Durango rear taillight removal which actually includes the dealing with that trim piece. Check it out and see if it gives you enough info. The vehicles share alot of the same steps almost exactly. th-cam.com/video/2Ez49xX46MQ/w-d-xo.html . Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
Would’ve been nice to see how you removed it!
At the beginning of the video I mention a video I did on removing it......here is the link. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe. 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee front grill and bumper cover replacement th-cam.com/video/4sGyx8wAxdA/w-d-xo.html
Go Dawgs!
Nice catch! Lol
