There is A LOT of content that has gone into the Pokemon games over the years. In addition to the hundreds of Pokemon, there's also characters, moves, abilities, items, berries, and more to keep track of, and with so much to keep track of, it can be easy to not even know about some of this stuff at all, which is why in today's video, we are going to be going over 50 things in Pokemon that you have NEVER heard of before, and hopefully teaching you something that you didn't already know!

Most people don't even know Quick Balls new effect from Gen 7; If the wild Pokémon has a base Speed stat of 100 or more, the Fast Ball has a 4× catch rate modifier; otherwise, it has a 1× modifier.(Ultra Beasts are always 0.1% Modifier.)

    • @IAmMissingnoMaster
      @IAmMissingnoMaster 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

The Fast Ball's somewhat notable for not working properly in Gen 2. At least, I see that as notable, anyway. But yeah- it was intended to work better on any Pokémon that could flee, and instead it only applies that bonus to Magnemite, Grimer, and Tangela, a fraction of the full list.

  • @zigazav1

Most of these I did not know about, and I forgot some of the Wonder Launcher's multiplayer items. It's not that I didn't know of the items for that thing ever, as I've played multiplayer battles tied to that battle mode with my friend in school at the time. They really need to bring that mode back, as it'd add another thing to multiplayer battles we don't really have today.

I know Filter (Mr Mime), Damp (Quagsire), Flower Gift (Cherrim), Triage (Comfey), Rattled (Toxel) and Water Bubble (Araquanid). Same with the attakcs: I know Wring Out, Telekinesis, Chip Away, Clear Smog, Tail Slap, Iron Deluge, Happy Hour (which I use quite a lot to farm money at the Galarian Star Tournament), Purify, Lunge, Stuff Cheeks, Clangorous Soul, False Surrender and Skitter Smack.
I guess when you battle online, you just learn more about the abilities, attacks and Pokémon overall so I absolutely suggest you to do that because moves like Lunge, Stuff Cheeks, Skitter Smack and False Surrender are commonly used. I'll list out facts I actually knew versus what I actually learned as I watch:
    1. I knew Walda, though not her name. I also knew Yellow's uncle was based on a fisherman in the games, but not his name. The rest, I honestly didn't know in terms of NPCs.
    2. I knew about most of the abilities. The only one that I didn't know was Ripen.
    3. In terms of moves, I hadn't known about Spotlight and Purify.
    4. I honestly knew about all those berries. I never used them myself, but Bulbapedia is my friend, and I often look at berry listings to find berries of particular flavors for my Pokemon, so I've seen the list of eReader berries.
    5. For items, you got me with the Chalky Stone, Common Stone, Gorgeous Box, different game systems, and Teru-sama. I also didn't know the Wonder Launcher was how you got the upgraded battle items, but I knew they existed.
Overall, not bad. I actually learned some new things about the games I adore!

Stall would be an awesome Ability if Sableye had better bulk! Think about it- STAB Payback guaranteed to be at full power!
Rototiller I have a funny story about- I was battling Lusamine's Clefable in Moon, and it Metronomed Forest's Curse on one turn, and then Metronomed Rototiller the turn after, so it basically set things up to be able to power up my Toxapex.
I remember getting the Leaf Crown on my Wynaut. I really wish that carried over to subsequent games, or at least unlocked a new Ribbon.
THE WONDER LAUNCHER I REMEMBER THIS! Oh, man, why didn't this catch on more? It was really cool!
Honestly, some of these things I remembered better than others, but the only real new pieces of info in this for me were the presence of a Virtual Boy in Gen 2 as a room decoration, and the name origin (and Japanese name) of the Teru-Sama.

As someone who's played Platinum randomizer I _love_ Flower Gift. my rando seed decided it liked that ability a lot and it really _is_ quite useful.
Also, what Water Bubble doesn't tell you (and the reason a lot of other commenters are going off about how busted it is) is that it also _doubles the power of Water-type moves._ Triage is also very strong the moment you put it on a Pokémon with even remotely decent stats.
Also also I've made use of Lunge because it is very very strong.

The Chilan berry is actually widely available. The Rabuta, watmel, belue, spelon, berries were very rare but could be rarely obtained in regular gameplay. The enigma berry was indeed only obtainable through a cheat code..... The other berries you mentioned though? Yeah, I want them!
I've heard about quite a few of the abilities and moves mentioned as well, but a couple were new to me. There are rare abilities that some pokemon have although it's incredibly rare and sometimes pop out during breeding a pokemon - like getting a female starter pokemon. Usually you'll get a male, but sometimes you'll hatch out a female. Long Reach is the other ability of Decedueye, and there was a set of final evolution starters given to players where the pokemon actually had the rare alternate abilities in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon - I believe. I personally have those pokemon

I used to just look through pages on serebii and see a lot of those abilities. Damp is mostly for Rain-based pokemon (and I think rain had an environmental effect in mystery dungeon games that had the same effect), Mega Aggron has Filter, I think Cherrim gets Flower Gift, Gogoat has Grass Pelt, Decidueye's hidden ability is Long Reach, Rhyperior gets Solid Rock (iirc when I think Ash fought Palmer in the anime, Brock mentions this ability), Sableye can get Stall (always tried to avoid that personally lol), Comfey gets Triage, and Araquanid gets Water Bubble (cause it's water/bug so I assume they wanted to make it feel more like a water type).

7:19 Flower Gift isn't unheard of as it's the signature ability of Cherrim and its sunshine dependanzlt form change is very striking. Especially as it does NOT involve its ability.
