In my opinion I honestly believe that Miyazaki is the one of greatest artist of the modern age. The souls games genuinely feel like beautiful art to me and I know I’m not the only one. He has the mind of some of the greatest artists in history. When I learned Miyazakis story though your videos it inspired me. The fact that he flipped his entire life around at 30 years old makes me also want to pursue my dreams. Its never to late.
We share the same view. He is like the Cervantes or Milton of our times. I believe he is a living genius :) And his passion for creating games is unequaled.
@@dondonrvEspecially with Elden Ring imo. It's hard to describe the feelings that it gave me. Such a beautiful world, with the erdtree towering over everything. I think the best way to describe it is magical. Unlike the souls world, in Elden Ring the world isn't dying yet. I feel as if i'm at the end of the age of myths with the demi-gods still being around but decayed like Radahn Malenia, Rennala, Rykard, Godrick, etc. Miyazaki has made several masterpieces like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, and Armored Core 6. He is a true artist and his team at FS truly love what they do which is truly rare in modern day Triple AAA+ video game industry.
I’ve always wondered about the development of FromSoft’s games and feel so fortunate to have found your channel. I just want to say thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos. We all appreciate it!
I lived in Tokyo through 2014-2016 and the excitement I saw and promotional material for Bloodborne was insane. Everyone was so excited for the game and as someone who never played a FS game before that point I didn't understand why it was so exciting. From the demos I saw in stores though the aesthetics and environments was strikingly horrifying yet intriguing. I never forgot what I saw and I'm excited to be playing it now for the first time on my PS5. The game is whopping my ass way more than Dark Souls 1 did lol!
It's my first fromsoft title too I regretted buying it when cleric beast kept kicking my ass, I dropped it and never touched it for like 3 weeks. One day I'm recommended a vaati video about bloodborne, I watched 3 minutes and stopped the video to avoid spoilers. Those 3 minutes of vaati's video saved me from missing out on what is now my favorite game of all time and my favorite fictional universe.
I really love how they kept the cosmic horror secret from all the trailers n such as far as I know. I remember when the blood moon lowers and you start seeing the eldritch-esque entities for the first time and the story starts to deepen far beyond what you had expected. I all but literally soiled myself.
My wife is not a gamer. She only played the witcher 3 and thats it. When i bought Bloodborne she watched me playing for an hour or something and asked if she can try. Of course i laughed at her... She killed the first cleric beast :/ We played the game for weeks and these were one of our best weeks ever. Bloodborne is truly a game for everyone like Miazaki said.
You've raised the bar for game development history videos. The quality and the breadth of research that went into making this must have been staggering. Frankly I'm amazed you managed to produce this so quickly without cutting corners. Great job! 👍🏻
I really respect Miyazaki a lot. In an industry that heaps praise on the director alone, Miyazaki makes it a point to always name drop members of the team or department that pulled off something incredible. And based on how he talks about focusing on a healthy work environment, he seems like a great boss that actually gets it. He’s not just a good director, he seems like a really good person.

Another of the main inspiriations of bloodborne thats part of the victorian era is all the medical references. Bloodborne makes many references to victorian medical colleges and anatomy and it is a major part of the lore. There is a series on youtube called bloodbornes medical metaphor an agony of effort that goes into this in more depth.
there is something special about the music in souls games.. and especially the bloodborne violin.. makes you want to dive right back in.. during christmas holidays.. you want to feel depressed, alone and scared.. in the world of bloodborn.. its addicting

Hey man, I know this series of videos is over a year old, but I gotta say from one creator to another, these are fantastic, and I can't fathom how you can put together such quality videos at lenght consistently. I know it must be a lot of hard work. I really enjoyed these videos.
as a software engineer i am fascinated with Myiazaki's tone and general outlook... so refreshing. Can't imagine having the opportunity to work with someone like that.
I recently found your channel and been loving it. I have been eagerly waiting for the making of Bloodborne video as it was my first Soulslike. Your video series has been really great. Can’t wait to see the rest
Its interesting that Miyazaki didnt mention Edinburgh as a direct inspiration, when its history of medical experimentation and many locations are clearly one of the core thematic inspirations.
@@dondonrv There's an absolutely outstanding series, delving into the historical inspirations for Bloodborne, made by a guy called Charred Thermos, but for some reason his channel was deleted. Thankfully someone has since re-uploaded it, with only a couple videos missing. It's very long, but I HIGHLY recommend watching the entire series asap as there's some of the most incredible insight to be gained and it might get removed again. Just search for: "An Agony of Effort, The True Story of Bloodborne". It explores the thematic inspiration of Edinburgh's dark medical history, particularly regarding autopsies (theorised to be the origin of having "eyes on the inside") and the pursuit of insight at the cost of one's humanity (i.e becoming beasts).
Miyazaki is up there as one of the greatest storytellers of modern time. No game developer has utilized the medium of gaming for storytelling better than fromsoft. Only a video game could explain its lore through items that you found throughout the world, a choice you consciously make. The same way Tolkien and GRRM made a whole world with religions, war, languages and a rich history, Miyazaki does the same in the medium of gaming.
Oh baby it's finally here! This game has a special place in my heart for getting me into Souls and FromSoft games in general. To this day, Bloodborne is the most intriguing and atmospheric game I've ever played. I want to know every single thing there is to know about it.
This is a surprise I more than welcome. I was on the fence about next gen(at the time) consoles but the Project Beast trailer was what ultimately convinced me to get a PS4.
I love Bloodborne but I have never seen ALL the history behind it, so I will watch the whole video, I promise. Thank you for doing all this outstanding work of research.
Just starting the video but I can feel the hype through my screen with the Bloodborne trailer. Because I wasnt a Fromsoftware fan by this point it gets me all giddy to see my favorite game received like this
(Timestamps in the Description) Thanks for watching! If you enjoyed the video, please consider subscribing.
Thank you so much for making these videos! I love getting all these interviews placed in one video!
Thank you for the perfectly done work

Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Aaah... My first ever Fromsoft/Miyazaki experience. Truly a masterpiece!
I bought a PS4 for this! :) And it was where it "clicked" for me, after my failure with Dark Souls...
Oh baby it’s time didn’t expect to come so soon but I’m ready. Just in time for Halloween too I’ll have to do another play through
Haha.. let's go!
Thank you very much for putting this video together. I absolutely adore Bloodborne and hearing more about its production process is very interesting. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
This is amazingly in depth, well done on presenting all this research on one of my favourite games of all time.
Thanks for the feedback! :)
This is an INSANELY good documentary! Thorough and packed with attention to detail. Thank you so much for this love letter to my favorite game of all time.
Thanks for the very kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Hey man, I know this series of videos is over a year old, but I gotta say from one creator to another, these are fantastic, and I can't fathom how you can put together such quality videos at lenght consistently. I know it must be a lot of hard work. I really enjoyed these videos.
Your videos are incredible. Thank you so much for doing these.
My pleasure! Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
as a software engineer i am fascinated with Myiazaki's tone and general outlook... so refreshing. Can't imagine having the opportunity to work with someone like that.
Thanks for sharing! Yes, he's amazing! (I came from a Software engineering background as well!)
@@dondonrv thanks for creating this. Its amazing.
Thank you for making this series! Really well research!
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
I recently found your channel and been loving it. I have been eagerly waiting for the making of Bloodborne video as it was my first Soulslike. Your video series has been really great. Can’t wait to see the rest
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
I've been absolutely loving your channel these past few months! Keep it up!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Loving this already and I haven't even gotten through the ads to start the video
Haha.. thank you! :)
我认真的 并且用记笔记的方式来学习, 这对我的游戏项目帮助是巨大的。非常感谢你细致的工作.
It blows my mind that there is yet to be a remaster or a pc port. The demand is already there, so why not?
Haha... Sony waiting for PS6 I think! :)
Thank you for the time you spent on this. Hoping for a bloodborne remaster or bloodborne 2
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
Its interesting that Miyazaki didnt mention Edinburgh as a direct inspiration, when its history of medical experimentation and many locations are clearly one of the core thematic inspirations.
Thanks for sharing! This is new to me as well! Very interesting! :)
Ah, a charred Thermos enjoyer, sad his channel was disbanded
great job with the video man, much appreciated, enjoyed every second of it.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! :)
Haha.. same! Thank you! :)
Your channel is a breath of fresh air on the Souls scene.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Dude these videos are freakin awesome! I’ve been binging them for hours lol
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
I was just listening to Making of Darksouls. I thought it would be great to have a Making of Bloodborne vid and here we are just some hours later.
Thank you! :)
Amazing video, thank you for taking the time to research and make this video.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
This is a surprise I more than welcome. I was on the fence about next gen(at the time) consoles but the Project Beast trailer was what ultimately convinced me to get a PS4.
Thank you! :)
I love Bloodborne but I have never seen ALL the history behind it, so I will watch the whole video, I promise. Thank you for doing all this outstanding work of research.
My pleasure! Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Still my favorite game of all time. I'm currently playing Elden Ring and loving it, but don't think any game will ever top bloodborne for me
My favorite as well! :)
I really appreciate you putting all of these quotes together. Fascinating
I will not dare summarize Miyazaki!
Just starting the video but I can feel the hype through my screen with the Bloodborne trailer. Because I wasnt a Fromsoftware fan by this point it gets me all giddy to see my favorite game received like this
Thanks for sharing! :)
Dude you are KILLIN IT with these videos!! Keep up the good work! 👍🏻👍🏻
