I've never seen someone drive a screw head into wood to secure it and ensure it's flush. How resilient is this method and what materials is this limited to? I imagine that hardwoods would be more likely to crack, but softwoods would work well enough.
Harder woods may need a bit of chiseling in advance. Soft woods will likely just assume the shape if there's a pilot hole large enough, as you can see here.
I've done it many times, almost exclusively in hardwoods. Works great but I prefer using a large washer and a nut on the opposite side to drive in the screw head. Better control than hammering.

얇은 판 홈 가공이 어려우시면 안하셔도 됩니다.
전체 두께가 두꺼워지는 단점이 있지만 얇은 판을 전체 덮으셔도 됩니다^^

It can be applied to any tree by adjusting the screw head groove.
Hardwood has a slightly wider groove / Softwood has a narrower groove.
