Zhiyun Smooth 4 Review - Why This Gimbal Is In A CLASS OF ITS OWN!!

- Well Im a little behind on this one but I wanted to test it thoroughly before I put out a review. Here are my thoughts on the newest Zhiyun gimbal to hit the market, the Zhiyun Smooth 4. The Zhiyun Smooth 4 is the first mobile phone gimbal with a follow focus wheel. Lots of cool features packed into this new gimbal from Zhiyun. Really enjoyed using the Zhiyun Smooth 4 over the past few week. Hope you like the vid!

Thanks for the video! I've had my Smooth 4 for about a week, but it spent several days in the box while I mulled returning it. Every last feature works flawlessly, except for one: Video from the main camera. Zhiyun does not want to fix the app crashing, and suggested I downgrade my phone.
I'll probably keep the gimbal because the pano features are very useful for me, and just use the phone's camera app for video on the main camera since the ZY Play app does not support 4k@60FPS anyway. The functions of the Smooth 4 work great though, and I'm impressed with the engineering. Only thing I would change is that they have the back of the phone holder in line with the center of rotation, so any phone placed in the holder is going to have it's weight forward of the axis. Moving this back 2mm would make a significant improvement in battery life, as the motor would not have to resist a front-heavy payload.
Super useful video! I am new to the vlogging game and just got the Smooth 4 from Amazon for $74 and I a super stoked to put it into practice.

Glad I got this gimbal. I bought it without much research the price was right is why I got it. I enjoy taking pictures and videos on trips so I wanted something to up my game.

RE: Counterweight issue. I think they either haven't developed a strong enough motor yet for this, or it would put the costs too high for where they want to be with their price point. Perhaps we will see this in a future version.
Moment is releasing a universal gimbal counterweight soon that I ordered along with kickstarting their new anamorphic lens. Excited to put that all together with the Smooth 4!

My brother gave me his today cause he never used it and im thinking of starting a TH-cam Channel! Im Super excited to use it but im having to learn via web and google because he didn't save the instructions... These vids are a life savor! I heard you mention there isn't a selfie mode. Im not sure if there was an update or something to the app since this video, but if you tap the left side of the thumb wheel it flips the camera around to selfie mode. tap it again it flips it back. That also is kinda buggy because on occasion I tapped it and nothing happened, so I just sat staring at my face for an uncomfortable amount of time...
I just call it my camera stick.. LOL!
I was bouncing back and forth for the past 2 weeks on what to choose over Smooth 4, Osmo 2, and the Vimble 2. Your content made me realized the obvious choice. Thanks. :)

Great review dude but as an android user (Huawei P20) I'm really disappointed with the lack of support and available usage of the gimbal. The camera on the P20 is amazing and I thought coupling with this product would be amazing, so far it's not to be. Like you say I hope it's just a software issue because I have great hopes of working well with both gimbal and phone.

I have many questions I hope you answer them (iPhone X):
1. How take a photo while recording the video?
2. How to save settings like flash, camera mode & HDR which no need readjust every time use ZY play App?
3. Why the recording video duration only 30 seconds?
4. How take a portrait photo?

I got this gimbal the other day and have been working it. One thing you forgot to mention is that the cable needed to charge the iPhone (or other phone) is not included. You used a iPhone X, have you had to use anything to charge it off of the gimbal? If so, which cable did u use and where did you purchase it?

JeremySiers great video, thanks. I have just got a smooth 3, I was excited while waiting for it to arrive, but I'm now depressed and I am considering returning it. The app is incredibly bad on Android and my v30 is not even supported, so a lot of feature don't work properly, being completely unusable. I don't see any support for the smooth 4 either. So sad, which gimbal should I get?
Actually I have and S7 and it works great with it!
The problem is that the android ecosystem is so fragmented. There is a different version of android on just about every brand of phone that uses it. So while an app may not work on a particular line of android phones, it may work perfectly with another. The consistency of the iOS ecosystem is why apps are made for them, and that’s why they usually work better than on android. It’s not about the quality of the phones - because many android phones are drool worthy - it all comes down to the operating system and nothing else.

Seems like I’m late to the channel, I truly enjoyed your video going over past content now. New to this whole world but super excited. Have the gimbal now & from your description list I’m gonna order that ND filter today & the counterweights. Consider me part of the fan club now. I do have a couple of questions what do you edit in? I have the Filmic pro app now, gonna look into the Zhiyun app now as well, what’s the general opinion from people here on the two. Thank you all in advance.
I have the Smooth Q Gimble and absolutely love it. The only complaint I have is that the Zhiyun App drains my Iphone battery unbelievably fast. I can go from 80% to 10% in 10 minutes while using the app.

Is there any way you can show us how the charging works? Like a close up of how the phone charges via external battery through the gimbal and a look of exactly how and where it plugs in ON the gimbal?
I manage live streamers who are wanting to stream IRL instead of behind a computer and we are building a set up for them using a gimbal. Unfortunately there is no video out there that I can find ANYWHERE. I know this is a specific request, but think it would be good content for you since there is no one out there showing how to use charging & external mics with the new iphones (since the 1/8th inch jack is now gone)
