🙋Why can't F35's or F22's be equipped with a autopilot computer capable of tracking and intercepting BVR missiles with their Vulcan cannons....... similar to Phalanx AA on a Navy vessel? It would be inbound on a straight trajectory and would save counter measures for after range is closed for a dog fight.

I know this isn't much of a brag here, but I'm super proud of myself for this so yeah. Over this 4 day weekend I got from work, I've spent a bunch of time messing around in DCS. Been just doing some pretty basic air to air stuff, and doing those air to air training missions that GS made a while back. I managed to win the 2 vs 1 fight for the first time today AND make it back and land without crashing. To be fair, if anyone ever landed as poorly as i landed there, it would probably get you kicked out of the USAF, and I got extremely lucky to survive the battle (I was doing a couple smart things that probably didn't hurt either, but holy luck) and I think I was frankly even more lucky to have actually killed the last enemy with my final shot. It wasn't pretty, but I survived to fly another day.
I would prefer flying the stealth planes if it was a long range escort or incursion, but in a flat out dogfight against other non-stealth....I'd take the EX and all its missiles.
Yes, but the f-15EX has a different task than the f-15C or f-15E. The f-15EX is baisically a missile truck, it's purpose is to carry a ton of AMRAAMs, so it's not an air superiority platform (today as we speak this function has been taken by the f-22 and f-35). In conclusion, the f-15EX is a really important plane, but not for the same reason as the first f-15s.
So is the J10, he's fighting J10 Alpha, when the Charlie variants already exist. And PL15 would've not missed within 50 miles, that is just not possible.
Love the explanations dude, your a really good teacher. I enjoy having you explain the tacview debrief. Really cool videos man. Gotta say the J10 looks really nice, great looking fighter. Would be good if you could do a video using one to see the potential of the jet. Just a thought. Thanks again for the cool videos man. Look forward to my daily dose of fighter school.

hey @ GS...a quick question: How much "jitter (in degrees) either side of the notch would expose the aircraft to being registered by doppler shift? I imagine without "auto beam defense" it must be hard to hold a perfect notch, especially if manoeuvering around terrain etc?
The Tac View radar profile, gimbals and so forth was excellent. Your pithy and succinct way of explanation is really commendable. No wonder so many of us folllow you. Very well done.
Educational video you made about BVR tactics. 33rd time to suggest a BVR/Dogfight scenario between a MiG-29 against an Su-57 Felon because you're very skilled in aerial combat and making assumptions of long range missiles. Dare to try! Impress us!
I have to admitt, the J10 is one of the most desired RED aircraft I would love to see in DCS after a modern SU 27 / 30 version with modern avionics....
Wonderful video, very educational and entertaining, thank you! One thing I am still curious about is where can I find out about the MAR of lets say AMRAAMs at different altitutes.
Question regarding double-tapping: a missile with a given range and conditions to target has a certain PK. However, this isn't a roll of the dice, it's an estimation of the missile's capability vs. the target's capability. Aren't the conditions similar enough for both missiles in a double-tap that the increase in overall PK will be negligible relative to the doubling of missile expenditure?
Subscribed for awhile and love the content! Would spice things up if unscheduled things happened. Say the sub launched an slbm while the f15e is on approach and you have to target that. Or you're doing F22 vs Su57 and suddenly additional radar contacts. 0.o
Hi could you make a video "experiment" with other players? I would love to see a controlled scenario where you test the advantages of not diving to the deck to evade the missiles vs where you do your normal tactics. It would seem to me that if you are fast it would be more advantagious for you to keep your altitude and instead because when you close you would have the altitude advantage and enemy missiles would have to fight gravity to get up to you while your missiles wouldnt... What you think bleeds more energy? The fight against gravity or the increased drag on the deck?
only question i have is: when i am notching or tryinig to hit the beam, do i have to hit the 90* degrees relativ to the airplane radar or to the missiles?
It's odd that the submarine did not try to dive. Was it on the surface because it was in distress? If so, the opportunity should have been taken to capture it instead of destroying it, since it was in US Territorial Waters (i.e., Guam).
So notching is getting to a 90 Deg angle from the incoming missile or radar with the radars getting confused with ground clutter and beam is being below with the ability of radar to see, needs chaff to defeat the missile? Where is the best place to study these tactics for DCS?
Did the very last missile that was fired at you fall into the water because you notched again, or because the J-10 that fired it had been destroyed? Reminded me of the final fight scene in Mavrick when the Su-57 releases the missile only a second before he is destroyed by Hangman's missile (who was somehow able to be undetected). I guess I was wondering if there was some fire and forget technology or if that remaining missile coming at you needed to be guided still? Great explaination in the debrief. Love your 2 moron vids as well.
Can you imagine the awards and promotion for a fighter pilot single handedly downing 2 Chinese bogies and then sinking a Chinese Submarine for good measure... completing the original mission! Jeez! You'd never have to pay for your own drinks again! I mean if this was a real mission! 😮❤😂

The large black shark torpedo has a 350 lb warhead. A 2000 pound paveway detonated from the inside of the sub would do slightly more damage.
