Larry Brags from Tower of Power joins David Sanborn, Bob James and Marcus Miller, taking the place of the beloved Al Jarreau. Denver Botanic Gardens, August 5, 2019
Awesome performance by Larry Braggs. RIP Al Jarreau who sang it on the great Double Vison album. This song always give me a lump in my throat. So soulful and emotional.
Larry Braggs went to David G. Farragut High School, in Chicago with me. We all were in music classes , Michael Avery, the singing group ( Superior Movement).
The great Lenny Welch recorded this in 1963. Big hit across black and white audiences alike. A “male” torch song. The actual song goes back to the 40’s. A freaking classic. To the young, there was really music before 1986.
I was there when they did this a few days before in Woodinville, WA. And when Larry walked out onstage I was like, OMFG!! This is going to be great!! And, sure enough, it was!! :)
I'm not American nor English. But I can see a huge difference between LB and AJ. They are both Great in different ways With different levels of feelings. Different strengths too. Respect.
RIP David. Awesome performance. ❤
