Loved the Wayne's World reference 😂 also thank you for doing a expansive comparison instead of just 2 or 3. This is really helpful. I run a A3 currently but this made me want a Raid!
@@kevin11288 still great work. Only ones I think were really missing was maybe the DBAL A3 and the Holosun LS321. Great video for dudes looking to get into their first laser and see where the performance truly lies.
Thanks for taking the time to set up and compare these! To improve your overall video production values, consider installing a 90s Tia Carrere silhouette downrange? But only for designating, no blasting - schwing!😘
Yup. Because most normal folks won't or can't get Full Power versions. The Holosun IRIS and ZBolt Acal are what is within most folks price and accessibility. BTW, that Steiner D2 is IMPRESSIVE!
I'll be honest, sometimes FP lasers are to much. I like to have the option, but if the laser completely washes out the target then you can not get accurate shot placement.
I love my D2. I run it in a spot on a 14.5 where I can hit the onboard fire button and have a tape switch directly behind the unit (the one Steiner includes) as my main activation method. My flashlight sits just below the led illuminator and has a clicky tail cap for activation. Only real down side to the setup.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. I was working on making a similar video. Just curious, how has TH-cam been treating you? Do most of your videos get denied the blessing of monetization and being circulated in the algorithm?
@@kevin11288 interesting, I’m almost considering not trying anymore on my end. My running theory is that if you turn monetization on, and it doesn’t get approved due to guns/NV content (night vision and thermal “sights” aren’t allowed per their terms, but I think they lump NV in one category) then they pretty much shadow ban the content. The reason I try to keep my videos monetized is that it would make sense for the algorithm to want to circulate videos that are making the platform money. Just frustrating either way so I was curious if you had the same issues.
I'm really hoping the $800 Holosun or the Zbolt can at least match the D2. If the build quality of those two is anything better than the Designate IR-V then it's an instant buy for me.
Hey, thanks for the video guys; have you noticed any problems with the D-IRV? I have watched some videos and read some forums that reported widespread problems maintaining zero and such. Have you heard about this? If so, have they been corrected? Thanks in advance for your time.
Interesting that your IRV illum is round. Mine has the upgraded cap, mount, and Arisaka button, but the illum is square. Was the diffuser cap on? Beam still seems tight if it is.
How do you like the IRV. I’m looking to jump into my first serious lam and this has my attention because it’s lightweight. I have a Sig rattler sd so it’s already kind of front heavy so weight savings is valuable. It will also sit on top of a suppressor so I’m not sure how the heat will effect the unit
@@paytonwoodruff3621 I have a video on my channel about it. check it out! It is great so far, but did have to send it in for a co alignment issue. The ergos and profile are PERFECT. I cant state that enough. No need to extra switches, and weighs 7oz with battery. Its been beaten up quit a bit, sitting above a warcomp, and dropped off my truck bed and held zero. I would guess I have 1500 rounds on this one so far. But for 2k....I would wait and see what the Zbolt acal and the Holosun IRIS have to offer. especially if the holosun is $800 and running VSCEL tech like the MAWL and IRV
The biggest advantage to MAWL has over most is the simplicity and ability to change the Illuminator on the fly. The ergos are way ahead others imo. I like that I can can’t the gun and make my “offset” 100% vertical as well. If I was to get another laser I would get the raid x civ power
Yeah the Dbal A3 Illuminator sucks at long range, but it seems to work good for close range for me. For long range I use a Modlite IR light on my rifle and shoot passive through my Aimpoint and that seems to work just fine for me. I actually prefer to shoot passively now thanks to the high mounts out today. I like having a IR light on my rifle because it really lights everything up when its really dark out in the bush. I also run two IR lights on my helmet for indoor use as well. I find that my red dot brightness setting that I use for the flashlight works perfectly with the IR light when shooting passively as well. I guess when you are poor and don't have a high power laser you have to make due! LOL. Great video! :) @@kevin11288
@@kevin11288 LOL. You just gotta know where to get A3's with clean 200 mW edge emitting Illuminators. They are far from abysmal. A few might not be clean, but many are very clean with zero artifacts and nice round beams. Most FP PEQ 15's have trashy/artifacts with oblong illuminators.
How does a family man afford this stuff? I hate not having all the capability at night….but I also need to put food on the table. Are there dads of 3 that have managed to nabs this kind of gear?
I really like how you let these lasers, in your words, speak for themselves with the side by side comparisons. Really well done. Thanks!

The difference with the raid xe and civilian was the laser not as much the illuminator
