Cats also purr when afraid. While waiting at the vet, I let my cat out of his crate. He was in a new and scary place, with several strangers and unknown animals. My boy climbed inside my coat, and hid between me and the back of the chair. Purring loudly, very much not happy. Purring means “don’t leave me” than happiness. Ah, well, yeah. If you think about it, even a cat can kill a human if it really wanted to and if it knew how. A cat's bite could be in the neck, perforate an artery, and make you bleed to death, it has enough strength to do that, and the cat has enough agility and speed to get there fast enough. A dog could straight up maul you in the most brutal way possible. They don't do it because they tolerate humans. And in the cats case, I presume, at least, it's because they don't yet know how. It IS kinda crazy that such beasts that can kill us are our friends just like that. It stands to reason any other species that doesn't has those same kind of friendly relationships with lethal animals would be very, very shocked at humans having dogs and cats as pets.
"Most Human's definition of love seem to have a lot in common with what most species would classify as Psychological Torture." I mean, the line between the two is pretty damn thin.

well cows kill most people a year compared to other animals. herbivores are often underestimated as seen as harmless herbivores, but most can defend themself against carnivores :D
Evolution is an arms race. If you have the most powerful, satanic looking predators in the galaxy, wtf did they evolve that type of power to kill? There’s a reason predators usually go after the weak, sick and the very young and old. Less energy wasted for reward, and hunts often fail. If nature has the spare capacity to make that thing, it’s not eating mice.
People keep them as pets now, and who knows how far this is set in the future, while not likely to be domesticated it may not be impossible after enough time.

This makes me happy. Especially when I consider that If humans shared their furry family with aliens, it would probably lead to a surge in adoptions on Earth, reducing shelter populations-assuming aliens wouldn’t start breeding similar pets themselves. That said, the pet loving humans would likely advocate for abandoned, abused and neglected animals by showing aliens heart-wrenching videos set to the song ‘Arms of an Angel’ to encourage them to adopt from Earth and make non kill shelters and kill shelters less crowded.
