She had a lot of potential. It's weird how labels don't understand that it takes some time to grow a fanbase. There's no way her follow up could've been on the level of Somebody. But she did gain some fans who were waiting for the next single. They shouldve kept making music for them and the new fans would follow.
Nowadays if you ain’t making them money with the bare minimum they done with you. It’s scary how labels don’t even invest in new artist anymore. I think social media plays a huge part in it. Artist go viral and they just want to benefit from that. Artist development is something from the past. Nowadays artist are better off going independent and growing organically.
i’ve wondered this multiple times over the years and have even googled to see if other people have wondered. have never found anyone talking about it when i’ve looked for answers. i actually didn’t like her first song but liked “Around the World” with Fetty Wap so naturally it’s been kind of a question mark for me. i was never like a “Natalie La Rose fan” but thought it was weird that she kinda just dropped off the face of the Earth after a chart hit, without much question or explanation. i know her followup to the Jeremih song wasn’t a huge success, but usually labels don’t just completely give up on an artist after just one underperforming single and i never heard about any music (commercially, independently, or otherwise) from her so i was like 🤔
No seriously she came out of nowhere and made a summer bop lowkey and I thought I was gonna be seeing more of her but instead she just went ghost, probably due to her having no identity or marketability like somebody else in the comments said

Thank you for this video. As a Dutch person I was so happy to see a Dutch singer having so much success in the US, but also bummed about how this success didn’t translate to more. Still rooting for her
Another artist of this era who used the same formula of using a sample as a debut would be Pia Mia. Her follow-up Touch Me wasn't bad, but I have a feeling her label didn't push it as much as they did with Do it Again. Whatever happened to her anyways...
There’s 2 options for me. One is that she didn’t like being famous and wanted to go back to normal, or 2 she or the label knew that she would be a one hit wonder and decided to take the money and run rather than spending it on more music and promotion for a career that probably wasn’t gonna go anywhere. Getting a feature from a major artist on your breakout hit is often a red flag that you’ll be a one hit wonder (blocboy jb for example), and it looks like that might’ve been the case here
I loved Natalie. Her personality, her look, her voice, and what she managed to get together on two songs. But she disappeared so quickly without other music, so it’s good to hear she might be coming back.
