I can't say her name without saying Nata Lee La Lose in her accent lol
She's he a true one-hit wonder but I'm glad she's found her sound and she's living her life :)
@@thawabalh wait now I’m trying to think who the biggest one hit wonder of the 2010s was-
@@naomi.cannibal its Silento.....you should make a video about one hit wonders
@@thawabalh agree we hear too much about one hit wonders going downhill
She's like Samantha Mumba or Amerie, They had so much potential.
Listen, Amerie is far superior. She has a name that still can ring out and a slew of hits. No shade to Naomi but this video is DOA because practically no one knows who Natalie was/is. A true definition of a non-factor all around.
"Somebody" is so well crafted as a spring break/summer anthem and the beat still sounds fresh to this day imo. Her latest song "Boys Lie" also has that same highly danceable vibe and it's been in my playlist since when I found out she still makes music. I think she's one of the most memorable one hit wonder of 2010s pop.
@@Greybell right!! Perfect timeless pop song! I wonder how it would have done if it came out today since people are so sick of samples/ interpolations
She made the fatal mistake of signing to an artist who was still actively doing their own thing.
love her! it's always been interesting how she disappeared after her second single, but i know she came back a few year ago with a few songs!
i love her so much. been a fan since the beginning and was proud to finally see a Surinamese 🇸🇷 star. i wish she would've been a big pop star 😭
You’re doing the LORRDDDDSSS WORK😫😫😫
All around the world could have also been a hit, but honey. This to me marks the trend of mediocre male features ruining fantastic female songs. A Boogie wit da hoodie being most notable, ruining two of my favorite female led songs.
I still listen to somebody to this day, but she came in with saying her name, which always ate to me. I saw a whole breakdown on why she failed, and pretty much they did not give one care about this young lady; they marketed her more as a dancer than a singer; they also didn’t save her from the Aaliyah conspiracy theories.
They could’ve done so much with her till she eventually fizzled and marketed her somewhere else, but you know the industry.
I remember hearing around the world a lot on the radio back in the day, such an underrated song, I used to be obsessed with it as a kid 😍😩
She's like the Normani of Fifth Harmony 😭😭
One hit song then poof😭😭😍😍
I'm so glad youre listening to kylies music her sister Dannii also makes music if you guys wanna check it out
@@Theicons687 honestly why I love this channel, broadening my tastes (even if she’s massive already lol)
@@naomi.cannibalhaha I totally get that 😂😂 Kylie has to be my favorite artist she's so versatile bubblegum pop, Rock ,country pop ,reggae , disco, electronica,r&b,latin pop ext ext and even more😍😍😍
Like I don't have a ranking of her albums properly I just have a Kylie album for every mood of mine😂
Can you please make a video ranking Kylies albums or talking about her music in general when you're done listening to all of it
It’s still funny to me how she’s considered the number 1 Aaliyah doppelgänger 😭
@@maybe8985 agree, I kept seeing pic comparisons while researching and don’t see it much beyond a similar head shape/ feature placement
Just as I cracked open my energy drink - good morning Naomi ♥️
@@naomi.cannibal the alani organs kiss! Tastes just like an orange Jarrito! 🧡
Love a unproblematic pop girlie ❤❤❤❤
'Around the world' was such a summer bop way back to 2015😔🩷 nowadays people only listen to sad music and then when to therapy on the weekend 🫠🤭
The only artists making sad music that are bops are Adele, Sza and Bilie Eilish. Everything else is happy.
Not really counted as a debut but Bonnie McKee is another person that comes to mind with regards to having a long gap. Her 2nd studio album was supposed to release back in 2013 (with American Girl being the lead single. Still a bop to this day!!) and was considered her comeback as a recording artist after being a songwriter to others but the album was ultimately shelved by Epic. She rerecorded the entire album and was finally released independently this year
Artists i wish they had bigger careers:
Samantha Mumba
Amerie
Ashanti
Christina Millian
JOJO
Brandy
Normani
Natalie de la Rose
Kesha
Tinashe
Lucie Silvas
@@dinasilva9263unfortunately her attitude. And the fact that her music didn’t evolve at all . Ppl just got bored
Brandy and Ashanti were EXTREMELY successful. They both had hits on hits, sold millions of records and have at least 1 classic album. They do not belong in a conversation with Tinashe or Kesha(no shade).
@@MissAlmostFine i know that but i still wish they were very succesful till this day, that's all.
I’m sooo happy she is releasing music! I will be hitting these up! I was literally going crazy wondering where she went like a week ago
As far artists who took the longest to release their first album go there's British singer Alexis Strum who was meant to be the next big thing in pop music in the early 2000's, her debut single was released in 2003 but it flopped and she was dropped by her label and the album was shelved, a few years later she recorded another album but yet again she was dropped by her label before the album was supposed to be released, the two albums she recorded wouldn't be released until 2023
She actually owned the master for the second album, just no one bothered to tell her that! Glad it finally released
This was such a fun time to be alive with music. I love female artist I love that New Age dance R&B sound. And in this era, we got Tinashe’s 2 On, Kehlani’s The Way, and then we also got the girls that didn’t stick around to like Jasmine V’s That’s Me Right There, & Natalie’s Somebody.
I was just listening to Around the World the other day and was wondering about her. She really has that thing (also, she kinda looks like Aaliyah in that pic of her and Flo Rida)
I met her back in 2016 when she was opening for Fifth Harmony, she was so incredibly sweet and friendly. :’)
We need another video like this but for Alexis Jordan...
I just have to say naomi is keeping us well fed
me and my friends always thought we just made her music up in our heads during elementary school lmao she was all over our pandora radio stations and then just disappeared
I remember liking "Somebody" quite a lot and just never hearing anything else from this young lady. It's good she seems to be doing well.
NOW THIS I WANNA KNOW
Somebody is still in my workout Playlist til this day lol
becky g comes to mind for one of the longest gaps between debut single and album. her first single was 2011 i believe, and album in 2019.
Around the world is still my jam ❤
She dropped a bop and left us hanging for years
UGH i could NOT escape this song on the radio back then. i was 12 hiding in my garage listening to music in the car radio and this song was on rotation! to this day i find myself saying “Natalie La Rose” so in a way shes still on our minds. that song was sooooo catchy but i def got tired of it.
Honestly the label including Flo Rida did her wrong!! I was so excited to see a pop star from Amsterdam, who is also originally from Suriname like me, have a big hit in the usa. Unfortunately the momentum has passed a long time ago. She did release a cute bop called “boys lie”. I love how she actually looks identical to Aaliyah! Not surprised she can dance like her too since she was trained at the most prestigious dance school in Amsterdam!!
Lord I’ve thought “Somebody” was by Sevyn Streeter my entire life up until this point😭
Where are the Natalie stans at? After this video, I stan this young woman. There was something about her. I Like that she EATS at the dancing. I love a dance-pop girlie who can DANCE.
She reminds me of Dani Leigh
Flo Rida was basically the one who got her into the industry and fueled her career. I feel like their relationship went further than just professional, and once they broke up he took her career with him.
@@christinarodriguesmusic I looked it up but there seems to be no clear answer. He hasnt released any music for years so its not that he was just flopping. His last era was succesful so
he may have just invested that money to enjoy his life without releasing new music.
@@DeBlauweOlifant The only thing I've heard about Flo Rida recently is that he won like 80 million dollars from some lawsuit. Sounds like he doesn't have to lift a finger musically if he doesn't want to.
She has an ep dropping this month!!
i literally listened to Somebody and Around the World a few days ago and i was wondering why she didn’t blow up. Tbh im part of the problem bc i simply didn’t seek out any of her music outside those two songs.
"All Around The World" was my SH*T. Oh my god she ate
At first, I thought this was a picture of Leona Lewis, ANOTHER one-hit* wonder.
This is so crazy finding out Natalie is partly of Surinamese descent, hearing this first time on this channel as a Surinamese herself is so funny hahahah
I met her when she performed at Wango tango I go a backstage meet and greet pass to meet her
“Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots!”
Nataleee la rrrose yasssss i ran I swam I jumped I FLEW over to this video yaass I'm glad to know she's doing ok
Still upset she never followed me on Twitter when i kept asking her 😭
The biggest problem in her career was going on tour too soon rather than promoting on a bigger stages
Somebody was my JAAAMMMM !!!!
she has not aged at all
I used to think DaniLeigh and Natalie La Rose were the same person 😭😭
That’s interesting. Imo they look nothing alike. Their music is diff too
Can you do a video on Katy Perry plz
Yessssssss
These record deals are NOT it. Better to be independent
Yes and no if they like you now your a star if not now you wasted your time and energy it’s a gamble
This was the first try @ Tyla
No, there was Alexis Jordan, Tinashe (for a period), Jessica Jarrel, Zendaya (for a period), Tai'Aysha, etc. It's just a marketing tactic that is used to gain more exposure.
Where my surinamese 🇸🇷 people at?
i blame queen naija
"Somebody" is the PERFECT song for it's time. The lyrics, production, flow and feature is the epitome of what 2015 sounded like. It's still fresh till this day. Same with Pia Mias Do It Again.
