I have to add info that most of riders do not know, they revised the Ram Air system +5% to HP at the wheel, and +5% better torqe delivery in the midrange.
@@almasiandrei2742 Do you know of anywhere that has done a dyno? This would be amazing if true, and would love to compare to the old hp/torque curve :) :) :)
So good to see you back posting stuff again. I bought a 2001 r1 as a fixer upper with help from your vids. I still have it as i decided not to sell it!
Have waited almost a year for this bike to release to the states. Almost bought a new 2023 model because I thought they were never going to release it to us. I finally have a 2024 ordered to come in next week 😁
taking the clutch out of the equation is the future... if the computer can do it better, there's no need to have it... you still have control over the gears... you just don't have the hassle of clutch...
I agree it can def help with emergency stops and overall safety . Allowing your brain to focus on one less activity could potentially help with just general focus on the road , throttle control and stops
Test rode one today… put that deposit on one if you can… slow speed inner city stop and go traffic… the e clutch to the rescue! But open road, well grab the clutch and your manual again… love what Honda did.. looking forward to getting my own!!!!
Fantastic review. One of the best and I've watched plenty. I've had the 2021 model and have a 2023 one now. Currently waiting for my 2024 with the e clutch. It's very much in demand and I'm hoping to take delivery in the next few weeks, having ordered it on the 10th May
The E-Clutch looks like a great system, though I suspect the clutch lever will disappear in a few years, much like when electric starts first came in and bikes still a back-up kick start. I suffered a pretty serious hand injury some years ago, so clutches have always been a bit of a challenge for me. In fact, I had to pass on a couple of purchases simply because I couldn’t manage the clutch. Well done Honda!
If the clutch levers go away, I think they should start replacing it with a left-hand rear brake lever. I ride electric dirt bikes, and the LHRB is superior to the foot brake once you get used to it. You can always keep your feet in an optimal position on the footpegs, and you have so much more control with trail braking as you enter a corner.
at this point go for what u think looks better , i always been a diehard suportsport kind of person even if i don’t go on track days looks better and much better feeling in high speeds
I see this bike as an absolute win, comfy yet sporty, easy, friendly, good looking, reliable... Only thing might the price but I think you are still getting good bang for buck.
I've been saying this for years and all my buddies look at me like I have 2 heads. In a pure EV bike or an automatic, I want left and right hand brake levers.
@@JulianperezvalenciaYou know bikes were/are designed to stay on both wheels right? In no way when bikes were designed did engineers think "hey even though we have two perfectly working wheels on this thing let's make it to where they only need to use one" 😂
I recently bought one of these and it’s an amazing bike. My only comment is… I think Honda could have done more with the TFT. eg auto display showing heated grip percentage, tank percentage and range, not either/or. Also, why not have reverse/normal/reverse graphics when the indicator is on? So simple to implement and TFT gives so much potential. But, it’s a fantastic ride. A truly great bike.
Every CB/CBR 650 Models doesn't have e-Gas/drive by Wire, so it can't have a Blipper Function. Only the 2024 e-Clutch Model can Up and Downshifting without use the Clutchlever.
I’m curious what the opinions of the masses will be for this when it comes to resale, whether the e-clutch model will have a sizeable advantage in that market. Hoping to test ride one at the weekend, see what all the fuss is about!
Yep, as stated above its can't autoblip. The throttle is cable controlled rather than electronically controlled so the ECU doesn't have the ability to control the throttle.
I'm not 100% but I can't see any reason why not, the dealership suggested that the system is likely to become more mainstream across the model range moving forward.
Maybe its just because i started with bikes less technology but even today I prefer not to use quickshifter. Not that I will ever be as good as quickshifter or eclutch but when I blip or rev match perfectly I feel I have accomplished something :p
I wish Honda bought out an SP version of the CBR650R as it is quite budget when compared with the 600RR. It would also be appreciated if Honda made the 650 series practical for accessories like side panniers and a top box. As it stands they are not at all practical as an all round city bike. If you look at the Dukes you find two bolts for a street rack to hold panniers and top box. Everything from the 390 Duke up to the 1390 have these bolts for accessories. The other REALLY ODD thing about this class of bike from Honda is the lack of pickups for a regular Paddock Stand. WTF Honda?
That's something I hadn't considered. I'm sure I remember seeing you can get Honda official panniers though I'm not sure about a top box. I could be mistaken though!

Enjoy the R1 - it's an amazing bike!

Awesome! I was well impressed with the one I rode, fantastic little bike. Enjoy your new purchase!
Dang it now I gotta sell my brand new 2023 cb650r to get this…thanks a lot Honda
That's exactly what I'm doing. Cheers mate!

Awesome, you'll love it I'm sure. The e clutch is a great bit of kit and well worth the upgrade.
Love this bike ❤
And thankyou for detailing Review 🚀
I think it's a fantastic idea and can't wait for it to be fitted to more Honda motorbikes, over time i think Honda will improve it even more.
Agreed!

The clutch is still needed for slow manoeuvres or pulling out on tight, right hand turns.
What motorcycle did you prefer mate, the cb650r or the cbr650r and why?

I like the front design of the previous model
Yeah, that was a great looking bike but I think this one looks fantastic too.
I see this bike as an absolute win, comfy yet sporty, easy, friendly, good looking, reliable... Only thing might the price but I think you are still getting good bang for buck.
If you are planning on keeping it for a long time you shouldnt care about the price. So long as the honda quality is there.
Agree with you there, I think the price is fair considering the equipment the bike comes with as standard.
Great review 👍
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Clutch lever should be replaced by a rear break lever. It would give us more control on breaking.
I've been saying this for years and all my buddies look at me like I have 2 heads.
In a pure EV bike or an automatic,
I want left and right hand brake levers.
Then we wouldn't be able to perform clutch up wheelies
@@Julianperezvalencia indeed. Thanks for remembering about that.

Fantastic review of a cracking bike
sooo no auto blip for the e clutch model? Great review btw!!

Where do you put the camera like both ones, and what camera you used and mount etc. Can you please share ty

which helmet did You use during recording?
I'm currently using a Ruroc Atlas 3.0 (Spitfire)
I want one!
Go for it, its a fantastic bike!
E-clutch goes up and down the gearbox without needing to use the clutch, but not an autmoatic gearbox? I don't get it.
The clutch is applied automatically, the rider is still in full control of the gears. It's a manual box on an automatic clutch. 👍
Did you mention the slipper clutch? That is a big deal.
Yup, its a very well equipped bike especially considering its price point.
Will it rev match like autoblipper while downshifing without using clutch ?
No it does not auto blip.
Yep, as stated above its can't autoblip. The throttle is cable controlled rather than electronically controlled so the ECU doesn't have the ability to control the throttle.
@ ok 👍
Is the e clutch available in the United States?
I'm not 100% but I can't see any reason why not, the dealership suggested that the system is likely to become more mainstream across the model range moving forward.
At the current time, NO, it is not available in the USA.
Not currently, but Honda North America often gets new models and updates after the rest of the world does, so we may see this as a 2025 model.
Yes it is now just seen one today
ooh, heated grip package and xtras, thanks!
Gotta keep those fingers warm!
Maybe its just because i started with bikes less technology but even today I prefer not to use quickshifter. Not that I will ever be as good as quickshifter or eclutch but when I blip or rev match perfectly I feel I have accomplished something :p
I can relate, none of my own bikes have any form of electronic rider aids. They 100% have their place though!
very very good tech.
It's a great bike!
They should have added atleast a cruise control on this bike instead of an e clutch
Yeah cruise control would have been a nice option, I'm a huge fan of the e clutch though. Game changer for lazy city riding!

I cant use my left hand currently on trident 660 with qs and clutch on right side would love a system lik that
I would highly recommend it!
