In celebration of TooManyGames' Sonic theme this year, as well as the upcoming release of Sonic Mania, I decided it was finally time to look at Knuckles Chaotix.

This installment features gameplay similar to previous games in the series, but changes things by introducing a team-based mechanic, in which the player must utilize the abilities of multiple characters to make it through a stage. The player, however, does not control their partners directly. Every character has a unique ability, such as Espio's ability to stick to walls and Charmy's flight. The plot of this game sees the return of Metal Sonic, who constantly thwarts the heroes until the game's final act, in which Metal Sonic even usurps the Dr. himself as the final boss when he transforms into a giant monster.
All-in-all, I find Sonic Heroes to be a very enjoyable game.

In Japan, it was only known as "Chaotix" and the JP box art had the same paragraph as on the title screen, which mentions that it is "Featuring Knuckles the Echidna"

Hey Johnny, quick curiosity: that grey Knuckles that fans usually call the "Wechnia" is actually Tails! He was just scrapped before completing development, but his code is still there. Since there are no sprites for him to load, it loads Knuckles' sprites instead. He can even fly for a limited time and all.
Also, Mighty really was supposed to be Sonic, too. He's just been conveniently changed in looks, but it actually was Sonic!
That's pretty interesting! But I'll stick with Numbles.

Sonic games are where you and your co-commentators shine with all of your tidbits of knowledge. (Though there are a few things you guys miss. But that's beside the point.)
To answer your in-review question, ********* is Tails' leftover data. Sonic was swapped out for Mighty.
And the executive for SEGA at the time had a no 2-D policy for the Saturn. That's why KC was released for the 32-X. (At least if I remember correctly.)

1. Knuckles isn't even a selling point to the game in Japan, his name isn't in the title.
2. Sonic Retro have theorised that Sonic Crackers is a mistranslation of Sonic Clackers aka the toy that the mechanic sort of functions like.
3. Espio can run normally up walls and on ceilings.

I don't think you'll have any trouble fitting this game in the Kingdom Hearts continuity. To my outsider knowledge, that continuity is a mess and you could fit anything in it if you wanted to.

Funny story. When I was young, I wrote a list of every Sonic character I could think of, including Knuckles the Echidna and Tikal the Echidna. Problem was my handwriting’s atrocious, so when my dad tried reading those two names, he saw “Knuckles the Behind” and “Tickle the Enchilada”.

I always watch johnnys old school marathons on VS. while I'm cleaning the house- his videos are always so entertaining every time I watch or listen to them.
But my God, if this wasn't the funniest review I have seen of his!! His delivery and random cut aways are fluid and deadpan, without distracting from his main point. I will always love his videos, but he just keeps getting better and better!!!

The other thing I noticed that Mania took from Chaotix was the way rings scattered if you had lots when you got hit. They fly into the foreground.
