If you really aren't familiar with hiking in the Buckeye State of Ohio, I strongly recommend going southwest to the Logan, Ohio area, and take in some serious hiking in Hocking Hills State Park, where there are hills, streams, gorges, waterfalls, shelter caves, and extremely competent and knowledgeable Rangers, and other Park personnel. Rain, snow, sunshine, it doesn't matter! And hey, I'm from West Virginia, and that area is my personal favorite place in Ohio, and the Cuyahoga region is my second favorite.

You went to Blue Hen. You should have kept going on the trail where the sign says "trail ends here" and gone on to Buttermilk Falls. The next time you are here, check out Wetmore. It's pretty difficult but scenic. Better yet, try these in the winter. Great video!

@@OutdoorDetour The park service doesn't encourage hiking to Buttermilk but its not that far from Blue Hen. You may need to cross the stream at times so waterproof boots or in summer a hiking sandal will be needed. Up the valley is Twin Sisters falls which you will only find by searching the web. Its at the end a narrow ravine not far from Northfield area. I go in winter when the stream is low and I can walk on the shale streambed in a few inches of water.

I enjoyed watching the video, (plus I was sitting here warm and dry while you hiked in the rain 🌧). Ohio maybe flat up in the Akron area but come on down to Southeast Ohio sometime and hike in "Little Switzerland", not so flat.

Interesting video man. I didn't know you were from Ohio as well. I am from Warren, born and raised. I found this video because I was thinking of do a 1 nighter in the park. I have never actually explored it other than snowboarding at Brandywine (if that counts). Any advice?

No kiddin? I grew up in Avon Lake and my first job was a ski instructor at Brandywine. Yeah, I had no friggin clue that area around the hill was all National Park. Pretty wild that it took me leaving the state to explore it. Hopefully that this vid helps. You can see a lot in a day thanks to the short and mostly flat hikes.

Enjoyed your vid. Planning to visit this park in August 2020 after I run the Shawshank Hustle. I won’t want to hike anything too strenuous after so these hikes look great.

Thanks so much. I don't think there's such thing as a strenuous hike in CVNP! Enjoy!
