lots of people like to mock Marilyn Monroe. thank you so much for the kind, thoughtful words. I love MM not because of her sex symbol status, but because she was such a heartbreakingly broken person who always held her head high.
Jenna Leigh's Beauty Slam - Well stated. I would also add tragically misunderstood. Like so many of us common folk. More than female or sexuality, I believe the reason you mention is what keeps her in our hearts and minds.
I guess I hang with the other crowd cause I have yet to hear much bad about her. No one is perfect, and yet she will alwsys be the perfect symbol of classic Hollywood.
proof positive that gay men are the best at hosting these cemetery tours, TH-cam is replete with other videos uploaded by gay men, worth checking out although Scott Michaels is kinda repulsive.
Marilyn gave this cemetery it's legendary status. Before her entombment here, there were no superstars there. Now, because of her, it's the most star packed cemetery in the world. Yes, Marilyn was named after a similar looking Broadway star, Marilyn Miller. And, Monroe was her family name. Norma Jeane came from Norma Jeane Cohen of Louisville, KY. where Gladys, Marilyn's mother was briefly a Nanny to the little Jewish girl. There's many other stars here like Jack Lemmon, Hugh Hefner, etc.
Dean loved Marilyn a lot. They was filming a movie together when Marilyn was having problem with her line, they wanted to replace her. Dean wouldn't agree to it, once she die they made the movie anyway except without Dean.
@@toniwilson1579 Yes, Dean was a stand up guy in my books and had dear Marilyn's back. The movie that Dean & Marilyn were working together on was, "Something's Got To Give" (1962). Unfortunately due to Marilyn having personal problems, being late - not showing up altogether, being "ill", flying off to the JFK birthday bash in New York, etc., 20th Century Fox had enough and fired her. Only a few usable scenes had been been completed by Marilyn and the delays were costing the studio money. Plus, Elizabeth Taylor's, "Cleopatra" was plaguing Fox with costs and delays as well...not to mention paying Elizabeth one million dollars to star in it, which was an unheard of sum of money to pay a star back then. Elizabeth had joked that she'd play Cleopatra if they gave her a million. She didn't think Fox would take her seriously. Anyway, with all this going on, things just went downhill for Marilyn and everyone involved. One actress suggested to replace Marilyn was Lee Remick...Dean had nothing against Lee, but he had signed to co-star with Marilyn and no one else...no Marilyn, no Dean! Eventually Marilyn was rehired by Fox, at a higher salary (but still paled in comparison to Elizabeth's), to resume the filming in September of '62, but unfortunately Marilyn passed away at the age of only 36, on August 5th (I *believe* she really passed away late in the evening of the 4th)....With Marilyn sadly gone, the movie was recast with Doris Day and James Garner in the lead roles...and re-titled, "Move Over Darling", which came out in 1963. Not to take away from Doris and James, but I so wished that the version with Marilyn & Dean was completed...it would have been magical with them in it. Just judging by the scenes that were completed, Marilyn just sparkled and was still so stunningly beautiful in 1962....I'm glad both Marilyn and Dean's crypts are not that far apart...friends since the early 1950s and now in the great beyond. God bless their beautiful souls.

I think it's crazy how these huge stars I mean people who will be remembered on Earth forever just have these small little boxes amongst everyone else. I guess it's true what they say Whether poor or rich, all's the same in death.
Oh my God, I am so honored to share my birthday with Dean Martin, he is one of the best actors, host, and singer with some much passion and character in his voice, rip and all the great stars⭐💞
So sad that Marilyn passed away without being recognized as the smart, intelligent and true artist she was, not just a body... She just wanted to be seen as she really was, she just wanted to be accepted for who she was and to be truly loved... R.I.P. Marilyn, we all know you were so much more than just a "stereotypical dumb blonde beautiful girl". We miss you ❤
Caroline, that's a very kind, thoughtful and compassionate analysis of a lovely, misunderstood woman, who by all accounts, never found someone to love her, or truly care about her best interests. I think she was probably very lonely.
@@annbolyn4910 Thank you so much for your kind words. Marilyn first and foremost was a human being just like all of us, but sadly she was part of an industry that most of the time does not treat you as a human being, but as just a source of money, profit and power. I also believe that Marilyn was a lonely person and because of her sad life story (she didn't have a loving family; she grew up in foster homes), all she wanted was to be truly loved and accepted. @@carolinep.m.8979 You're welcome, Caroline. I hesitate to use the word "victim" as I think it's become a "go to", but as with everything, there are exceptions. Like Elvis, I think Marilyn became a victim of her own fame and image, and what a struggle it must have been to sustain that. I remember Elvis ruefully answering a question on that subject, saying "the man is different from the image". Marilyn was propped up, held up, made up, and told to go perform. They didn't care about her heart. They were sharks circling the water. They didn't take her seriously, and this must have hurt her deeply, with unpleasant memories of her childhood. A good thing is she left behind a wonderful legacy, with fans even fifty-five or so years later, who recognized her for the smart woman she really was.
Don Knotts was very kind to a blind kid once at one of the shows they made for the Junior Blind in Los Angeles. The kid was my son who passed before Don did.

I'm only in my 20s and yet I love and miss Marilyn Monroe so much that even I don't understand it. It's truly heartbreaking that the most beautiful angel to ever exist was never afforded the proper love and care she so deserved. Reduced to her beauty and sensuality I believe people could never see beyond her looks to notice that she was just as beautiful if not more on the inside. There'll never be another Marilyn Monroe, ever. RIP sweet Norma Jean and know that you are endlessly loved
Fantastic video. I just got back from a trip to L.A. and spent 2 hours here. Such a beautiful place full of some of the biggest talents the world ever saw. Some I didn't even realize were there so now I must go back.
The lipstick marks all over Marilyn’s crypt are just beautiful. I like to think Marilyn herself would like them. It seems like something she would do and would want.
Appreciate that there are many lesser known or 'forgotten ' actors/actresses that you mention. They will be remembered once again and hopefully some will Google their lives.
I visited Marilyn Monroe in the 90's while I was still young (26), and there was something so eerie about the site, you could feel her actual presence, after kissing the stone I felt her leave the cemetery with me. OH boy did the drama of my young life kick into high gear not long after that! (no joke)
I was just there visiting last year in March. It was a lovely cemetery with lots of stars resting. I can't believe I missed Buddy Rich. He was an incredible drummer. I had no clue he was buried there or Bob Crane. I will definitely visit and pay my respects when I go back.
I greatly appreciate a channel like this. It takes you to all of these wonderful star's graves without leaving home, which is difficult for me as I am disabled from a car accident .

Still breaks my heart what happened to MM. I just absolutely adore her and always will. As for DM just love the man and his music continue to R.I.E.E.P ❤❤❤
I live about 4 miles from this cemetary, and have walked around in there for hours looking at and reading the headstones. Surprisingly, it's a VERY small and unassuming cemetary tucked away behind busy Westwood Blvd., office buildings and a CVS..can't believe so many greats are laid to rest there. I'm a massive fan of Old Hollywood. I love seeing these vids, thank you..subbed..
Dean was devastated after the death of his son Dino. I remember his grand son stating he witnessed the implosion reaction Dean experienced when he was told they recovered Dino’s body by rescue workers. He was 35 and died with another, Capt. Ramon Ortiz. The plane he was flying , one of three F4-C Phantom Jets ,on maneuvers ,had crashed into one of San Bernardino Mountains. He was a member of the California Air National Guard, and crashed during a military training flight.
Watching this from Ireland..amazing job on Shining light onto these ICONs of Hollywood. The detail you offer provides really so important to understand these gifted people.
Interesting story I read about Marilyn Monroe; it was from a friend of hers. They talked about how they were walking with Marilyn through New York City one day, and nobody was even giving her a second glance. The friend was baffled, and turned to Marilyn to remark about how strange it was that nobody in New York City of all places was recognizing her. Marilyn simply looked at her and said “oh, you want to see me be her?” and in an instant, she switched from Norma Jean and turned on her Marilyn Monroe persona. Everyone began to notice her after that, and a whole crowd formed. That just goes to show you how different she was in real life from the persona she always put on.
This video was great! Thank you! I am in LA and have visited that cemetery a few times but never knew that many stars/famous people were buried there! Didn’t know Dean Martin and Robert Loggia was there!
Thank you for showing us the final resting places of so many beautiful and talented actors/actresses in an insightful and respectful way. Marilyn's last film was with Dean Martin in Something's Got To Give which she unfortunately did not finish.
They wanted to replace her and once Dean found out he basically said no Marilyn no movie. He had a really good contract and had a lot of say. She came back but then sadly passed.
Westwood is my favorite celebrity cemetery... I visit every time I’m in LA and every time I see something I missed the time before! Love your videos... what a great tv series they would make!
Respectful, tasteful and informative. I clicked on a whim, but learned more about celebrities I was already aware of, and learned about celebrities I had not been familiar with. Either way, this was a lovely memorial to al of them.
Just watched this and (to my amusement) a perfectly placed ad was shown. Right after the showing of the "Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend" clip, an ad came on for diamond rings! Good advertising!!!
- Not that it matters now, but Ms. Monroe was an Atheist! She told Billy Graham, she didn't believe in Christ or God! Again, that was her choice. No disrect!
She was a home wrecker and a drug addict....she died blowing shit up her nose...you can take the trash out of the ghetto but you cant take the ghetto out of the trash
Wow. I do like Marilyn Monroe. She was an underrated actress Nice job in Bus Stop. Also in the movies Some Like it Hot and The Seven Year Itch. She did have a troubled personal life. She couldn't find true Love. Hollywood used people in those days, big time. The same with Judy Garland.
For me, in the big band era, it's a toss up for drummer between Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa. They both had something so special in the way they played the skins!! Stay Safe Everyone!! From Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖💖🇨🇦

Thank you for making these videos, very appreciative that you put a lot of informative history with respect to the celebrities you cover. My father is buried at the Glendale Forrest Lawn, and it's always been our little hobby after we've visited him to visit and pay our respects to some of the celebrities interred at that beautiful Cemetery as well. Best!
I really love your videos. They are very well done and informative. I have visited so many of these graveyards, but missed so many people. Thanks to your videos I will see them next time. 🙏
The Dean Martin roast of Ronald Reagan was probably my favorite of the roast series. He was clever to host while drunk, because it adds a specific and special kind of humor that's unrivaled. May all these wonderful people rest easy.
13:53. Dean Martin did "That's Amore" in one take. When they asked him to sing it again he refused stating that he just sang the song. Even the greatest opera singers do three takes.
I agree with the people who made the comment about the man faceing down toward Marilyn Monroe. I know that was his last request, but didn't the narrator say that she got sick of playing the dumb bombshell. He did not respect her wishes at all.
Dean Martin was a very respectful Gentleman, and he showed his respect to his guests, audience, and friends. I enjoyed his warm sense of humor, sadly we all felt his pain when his beloved son died tragically. Dean Martin carried his pain deep inside, to support his wife, and the rest of his family. True Dean Martin never touched liquor during his show he only consumed Apple Juice on the Rocks. Bless you Dean, may you rest in peace always...

Well it should be on tv any day of the week
I used all your videos as my guide when I visited this cemetery earlier this year. Invaluable help. Thank you.
I am in aw of what you do, you give all the celebrities such love and respect. My children have started watching with me and enjoy every detail. I have always wanted to visit these gravesites and place a rose for every celebrity that ment something to me. Thank you
Thanks, glad you and your family enjoy them!
Extremely well done and touching tribute to Marilyn Monroe. Bravo !
Such a beautiful tribute to Marilyn
The movie" Blonde" trashes Ms. Monroe.
Still breaks my heart what happened to MM. I just absolutely adore her and always will. As for DM just love the man and his music continue to R.I.E.E.P ❤❤❤
I’m rewatching this on August 5th 2021. What a poignant anniversary. Rest easy sweetheart. Xxxx
I think Marylin was murdered:(
Who would want to murder her fine ass
She definitely was.
@@065moe the Kennedys...
Maxine Universe right
Agreed.
9:24 why this always give me goosebumps man R.I.P Marilyn Monroe
I don't know why, But I got emotional on this tour. Maybe it's because I use to watch some of them on TV with my late father. How fast time flies.
alex L Marilyn made me a little emotional knowing she died the way she did which was lonely and sad. Breaks my heart
Watching this from Ireland..amazing job on Shining light onto these ICONs of Hollywood.
The detail you offer provides really so important to understand these gifted people.
Thanks Arthur. I love watching Hollywood Graveyard everyday. It is fun to watch especially both audio visual and music as well.
"“There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.”
Fascinating !!
Heather O’Rourke from The Poltergeist is the saddest one, only 12 when she died.
Judith Barsi's is the saddest for me.
Amazing series and I love how you include videos and photos for the people that I do not know - but am intrigued. Thank you
Great Video! Well Edited! Thanks For Sharing! Take Care!
very high quality, professional and respectful work you've done...enjoyed it very much !
This guy is the king of history of grave Legend!!
Thank you Sr Harry Warren for all those wonderful, Beautiful songs!!
Just watched this and (to my amusement) a perfectly placed ad was shown. Right after the showing of the "Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend" clip, an ad came on for diamond rings! Good advertising!!!
One of my favorite videos of yours. YOU come through and your caring. I love it!!!
I never get enough of Marilyn Monroe
I loved the video. Marilyn Monroe was a good actress and will be a star forever.
- Not that it matters now, but Ms. Monroe was an Atheist!
She told Billy Graham, she didn't believe in Christ or God!
Again, that was her choice.
No disrect!
starquant Geminis act like that you idiot.
+Lord Bison - Oops, disrespect.
Billy Graham was a idiot
She was a home wrecker and a drug addict....she died blowing shit up her nose...you can take the trash out of the ghetto but you cant take the ghetto out of the trash
Omg I’m loving this series😍😍😍😍😍 I’m such a huge TCM fan this is awesome to see these celebrities final resting places.
I absolutely love this channel. It's so well done and the only TH-cam channel I can binge watch.
Thank you for all you do!
Just visited here today, started watching this channel earlier this year and had to come visit. I’ll be returning tomorrow to continue. So much to see
Wow.
I do like Marilyn Monroe.
She was an underrated actress
Nice job in Bus Stop.
Very well done I love how respectful you are with your comments and research you do. Character actors you may not remember their names recognize the photo.
I was honored to visit Marilyn's site. We love you Marilyn!
Your videos are amazing!!! I've watched them all!!! Very professional and tastefully done...your reverence for the departed is so evident. Looking forward to more!!!
I remember going here when I was very young on a day trip with my parents and grandparents. I thought it was odd that there was a cemetery full of famous people down an alley 😂
A day early... because I love you guys :)
Hollywood Graveyard YAAAAAY!!
I am really glad to see you back, i look for your videos every day, thank you for outstanding work other people do these videos but don't touch yours, well cone
We love you, too!!!
Hollywood Graveyard you seen a lot of celebrities have you bro
marilyn monroe also was the very first cover of playboy magazine in january 1954 and was the woman to pose nude for hugh hefner she will forever be a goddes sex symbol and queen of hollywood and she was also married to baseball star joe dimagio
If anyone is curious, the stand-up bassist from Buddy Rich's band, is buried in NY.
My dad.
Great work guys. We went here in July and thanks to this video we were able to see the stars graves
I am a necro-tourist and watch a lot of content regarding this, on YT.
First time here.
You are good. Very good.
Congrats!
I stumbled upon these videos and let me say Bravo! I enjoy the history you include with each celebrity. great job! keep up the amazing work
My Great-Great grandparents, Guido and Pia Mencacci's graves are at the 16 second mark by the tree. Unfortunately the roots are uplifting their stones. Interesting to know the famous company that they keep. Thanks for posting this.
Damn watching cemeteries like this isn't scary
I LOVE IT

True but if you just walk in a regular one it is lol

Jose Cassama....I'm 74 years in age. My mom told me when I was 12 years old that the dead can not harm the living. Then she said, "it's the living who always harms the dead.
True, I love cemeteries. They calm me.
Your channel is one of my favorites! I’m from Chicago and have been to LA, but sadly, did not have time to visit any of these cemeteries. Thank you for being so professional and succinct with your commentary.
4:15 just realized what Ariana meant in her song “7 rings”. “Breakfast at Tiffany’s and bottles of bubbles”
ARe you like 12 lmao
Omg same I just realized that too
I didn’t get it can you explain
I think I'm too young to get whatever reference you're talking about
@@FeverFo believe me you're not
Why oh why are there “ dislikes? Fantastic, informative series! Some people are just hard to please
This is a great channel. I just find it offensive that someone has to put negative comments about these people. They are gone. Let them RIP
To all the celebrities in this beautiful memorial park. RIP. My long overdue condolences to the families :-(
The Dean Martin roast of Ronald Reagan was probably my favorite of the roast series. He was clever to host while drunk, because it adds a specific and special kind of humor that's unrivaled. May all these wonderful people rest easy.
Dean Martin was a great actor. He always drank apply juice in those glasses.
13:53. Dean Martin did "That's Amore" in one take. When they asked him to sing it again he refused stating that he just sang the song. Even the greatest opera singers do three takes.
DCFunBud, Profection can't be improved on. Why do it again!!!!
❤ R.I.P. DEAN ❤
@@judyschmoll8541 I think you mean "perfection," and, yes, he did have a point.
@@DCFunBud Oops sorry I didn't proof read l guess. Thanks for the response 👍.
I am my own worst proofreader. It's always easier to find someone else's mistake. :-)
It's pretty hardwork you did. The research and travels are exhausting. Thank you for sharing them with us.
I agree with the people who made the comment about the man faceing down toward Marilyn Monroe. I know that was his last request, but didn't the narrator say that she got sick of playing the dumb bombshell. He did not respect her wishes at all.
*facing
I always enjoy watching your well presented videos. Kudos!
I am loving these videos! I can't wait for part 2 :-) keep them coming please!!
“Haven’t you bothered me enough you big banana head?” -Marilyn Manroe
XTrinityx lol love her
Lmao
I love these videos💯 they are super interesting keep em' coming🙏
Dean Martin was a very respectful Gentleman, and he showed his respect to his guests, audience, and friends. I enjoyed his warm sense of humor, sadly we all felt his pain when his beloved son died tragically. Dean Martin carried his pain deep inside, to support his wife, and the rest of his family. True Dean Martin never touched liquor during his show he only consumed Apple Juice on the Rocks.
Bless you Dean, may you rest in peace always...
