I think the camera angles and board setup that you do is really nice. Your games are really immersive. You are always a good sport and make fun narrative reasons for stuff that happened. Great game gentlemen.
They should add a rule where you can deepstrike Inner Circle Companions from the Lion mid-game. Like a mini-astartes Monolith. The unit is seen as quite underwhelming but if they could appear to help their Primarch, that would be pretty cool and themey.
I actually brought a double monolith + nightbringer list to an RTT this week. I'm not a particularly good player, but the first game was the ritual + scrambler fields (so no deep striking onto objectives, and loads of objectives in the middle), and in another game my opponent brought 3 units which denied deep strike within 12". Both of those really hampered me. I think there are probably ways round it, but anything which results in a 12" no deep strike field is really good and I think competitive players will start picking those units soon.
Was going to say marine infiltrators (unit that denies deepstrike within 12" is the way) pop a phobos Librarian on them too to make it impossible to shoot outside of 12" and there you go
One of my favourite battle report channel. Great lads, simple and clear explanations, great camera, tasty jokes, brilliant. You got yourself a new subscriber, thanks and keep them coming! Cheers🎉🎉🎉
Every Batrep it feels that way. Every other unit seems to swing or miss, but the Monolith just dominates every game. I don't think I've seen one die in 10th yet. It seems like at first his opponents try to kill it, but with it regenerating wounds and it being T13 along with a 4++ with a stratagem, that's easier said than done, so they just realize at some point it's better to ignore it. Of course then it teleports and spawns a whole unit of warriors to get on an objective.
Wait did Winters forget about the monolith disintegrators in both his second and forth shooting phase? He didn’t use them shooting the assault intercessors turn 2 or against the knights turn 4
I think a good way of defeating the Monoliths is volume of bodies, if you have big squads with invuns then the high AP and damage weapons of the Monolith are diluted.
Lion El'Jonson. The Primarch return to gather his Fallen Firstborn to become the glorious risen to join the ranks of the rest of his wayward sons. Leading the old, even more than usual suspicious sons of his back to protecting the Imperium at it's hour of need... GW: Yeah, he's going to be just surrounded by Primaris. Even the Deathwing "can" be Primaris in the same gear. Lion: DA FUG?!!
Great game! TBH with the 13th on break, Ad mech a dumpster fire, and Tyranids underperforming, I'm happy to see Winters having fun with Necrons. Solid performance despite some really frustrating rolls!
That is one knockout paint job on the Lion, great stuff - Also @DarkAngelsChris, where did you get the robbed bits for the sergeants of your intercessors?
Even the Monolith needs a 'toe in' to the ruin before it can be seen. GW changed the rule on Titanic and LOS. Only aircraft can be seen anywhere with true LOS.
A question about leviathan tactical mission cards: when you decide to discard a mission at the end of your turn (or end of round?), do you get a CP as before?
Hypercrypt seems overtuned. And I think it makes Monoliths over the top. The main problem a Monolith would have on any other detachmetn is that it is eitehr slow for a vehicle with 8", or it deepstrikes losing a turn of shooting. And then becomes slow, and you can try to play around it. But in Hypercrypt its weakness is ignored and you have a tough unit, that regenerates wounds, that shoots sustained hits Lascannons, and devastating wound blast weapon, with decent melee (3D melee is rare) and thathelps all the additional mobility you have. Very few things can wound it effectively, and if they do, you just need to do the 4++. It is a bit too much. I think the DA list had very good antitank, and still the monoliths were basically intact.
Saw the lists. Had a hmmmm moment, watched the first turn, had another hmmm, and clicked to the end to see if it went how I figured it would. It did. Beautiful board though. Might have to hit up march of war.
Hypercript is after the dataslate the best 40K army. Too much movement for too strong monoliths and c tan s. They will eat the nerf hammer in the next one… until then, enjoy necron fellas!
I'll say this where I keep seeing it, but I really think this game needs a rule that units don't die until the end of their team's first battle phase. Kind of feels stupid a list can include 2 Monolyths and a Ctan.
yeah I was watching for the same reason. most of my army is legends mode now anyway and I just wanted to see what a competitive list right now actually looks like. feelsbadman.
A competitive Dark Angels list consists of strong space marine stuff like Scouts, Inceptors, Aggressors and/ or Land Raider Redeemer. Redemptor Dreadnoughts are good, but 3 are too much in my opinion, because the Redemptor deals not enough damage. Replacing the Predators with Gladiator Lancers also seems like a good idea. Don't take the Lion and probably don't take assault Intercessors and intercessors. Azreal plus apothecarius with a 10 men squad of Hellblasters seems to be very strong idea. The Hellblasters gain the deathwing keyword by this too, which is interesting. Maybe one unit of Deathwing Knights can be good for the midfield. Unfortunately most unique Dark Angels look a bit too weak and there are better alternatives in the standard space marine codex. The Rawenwing bikers look interesting though. It might be a good idea to include some of them.
Not the best move to charge the Monoliths. I think he overestimated his ability to damage them. Hypercrypt Necrons are very strong now. I saw that when the codex dropped and everyone rushed to play Canoptek Court. Marines of any flavor will have a hard time. Perhaps with all his armor Chris should have played Ironstorm or Gladius? I don't think Vanguard slowed you down much Winters.
I don't think it was a bad move. It reduced theri mobility and it was one of the best options to damage them. If he didn't charge the result would be pretty similar. Death Rays to the face and dead REdemptor and Lion. It dind't really change much, but it was not a bad move.
@@barbarrojaa.c.4761 He needed to double up. Not one on each. But in fairness, there was nothing in the DA army that could deal with T13 (with a possible 4++ save). In that scenario you have to ignore them and kill the rest of the army.
@@RFischer there was no way to double up in the situation. Thebunits weren't close enough. And ignoring them wasn't really an option. The Redekptor might have gone against the Nightbringer but it isn't a great matvh up either. Thr Lion was boxed in without any targets. If the game had gone differently and there were 2 Redemptors maybe there was something. But with a Monolith on each objective, and most big guns already out, the best option was to try and reducd the mobility
@@barbarrojaa.c.4761 Hypercrypt is really strong now. Not sure any marine chapter will do well against them with the recent nerfs to marines. Kudos to Winters for owning two Monoliths. They were crap for so long I doubt not many players had that in their collection. I have only owned one for the longest time.
Nice battlereport once more. Thanks for the good work. But those Necs are broken badly. I watched the batrep CSM vs this dynastie and the result against the Angels was quite obvious. The teleport-mechanic(should be banned for all armies) + all, the monolith can do, is a realy hard pill. You had a video, calling out for players to have fun and make the game fun for yourself and your opponent. But in 10th edition, the gamebreakers rise with every codex and its hard to avoid them.
Awesome rep. Bad day for the Lion. Maybe you can do a Votann vs Hypercrypt? They are heavily aggressive on primaries, take control over the board and can put on some early pressure. Teleporting is nice and stuff, but won't help you too much if there are 4-6 armored vehicles close to your entire army. Would be fun to watch. Or Nids. :D
Like + comment to support the channel as usual. But can we have a little bit more dice rolling....? To hit, to wound and saves? Because firstly u cut off to hit, then to wound, and now also saves - just giving the result (
It seems the space marines keep getting nerfed. It would make sense if they won tournaments but, from my understanding, they don't. Can someone explain this to me please? *** Note: I do not play myself because everytime I considered getting into this hobby, anything I want is "out of stock." This is a whole different issue but, it does stop me from joining winter's Wednesday & such. That said, I don't play thus I don't understand "everything" but, I've been watching these games since early 9th edition. My view point is based on watching games across several channels & I haven't seen a space marine army win semi consistently, since early 10th edition. ** Death guard, chaos marines & elves, seem to be the over powered armies based on games I've seen. Lastly, Winter's has the best channel in my opinion (inc play on) but, it would be nice for a bar or something to see VP, CP & scores.
Monoliths are OP. Sorry, but a 360 point model shouldn’t be good at EVERYTHING. Good single target heavy damage, good crowd clearing, tanky, regenerates, MOBILITY- NOT BAD IN CLOSE COMBAT?!? I mean….it literally does everything….needs a nerf
Does seem like it when you compare it to the Primarch. Not to mention something like that shouldn't be something Necrons can field more than one in an army.
I think the camera angles and board setup that you do is really nice. Your games are really immersive.
You are always a good sport and make fun narrative reasons for stuff that happened.
Great game gentlemen.
Doesn’t Dark Angel Chris look like the Lion himself?
Yes, yes he does.
YES! 🙌
Funny how people forget that he basically looks like Sanguinius but with facial hair.
I was just about to type the same. A much younger version of course. :)
😂you beat me to the post
how did Winters get the actual heresy era Lion el Jonson into his wargaming room??
I'm not sure that an actually Primarch could fit into Winter's house without knocking everything over and getting stuck in the doorways. 😃👍
They should add a rule where you can deepstrike Inner Circle Companions from the Lion mid-game. Like a mini-astartes Monolith.
The unit is seen as quite underwhelming but if they could appear to help their Primarch, that would be pretty cool and themey.
It's always a pleasure to see Chris and his Dark Angels. The Lion will be triumphant next time around.
Feels like the Lion should have a halve damage rule himself. He got wrecked with ease.

Yeah I noticed that too. Think he was being kind to Chris by intentionally forgetting
Yea he does this or make silly moves or gives cover to them when no cover winters is too nice
Those super cocked Nightbringer damage rolls at 44+mins!😬😬😬
I love Winters sportsmanship, but that was pushing it a bit far.
When dice are cocked, he usually goes with the number that’s pointing towards the camera
Thank the gods for this battle report
To countering the hypercrypt legion, maybe denying deepstrike? I'm thinking infiltrators that have the 12 inch no deep strike aura.
That scenery is amazing
great battle report, came for the DA content, will stay for the production value and story telling, great job!
Nice!

The intercessors are from kromlech

@Winters: are the points correct for your Necron list?List? My count is coming in at 1935pts.
Yes!! Both my armies fighting each other! Looking forward to this one!!

But isn't the monolith a titanic unit?
Doesnt vanguard -1 to hit and stealth only apply to infantry?
Just 11 mins in but the +1 bs +1 ap strike from the shadows strat is infantry only. Looking forward to the rest of the batrep
Watch the whole batrep, nice video guys! Enjoyed it, without spoilers I see the above comment never got used in the game 👍
The lieutenant from the Movie “Last of the Mohicans” 😁👍🏻
I thought the same thing… is that Duncan?
A question about leviathan tactical mission cards: when you decide to discard a mission at the end of your turn (or end of round?), do you get a CP as before?
Yep
Wonderful game, loved it!
Winters! Love the batt reps, u da best!
Was wondering when Dark Angels Chris would be back on the channel :)
The Emperor protects. Sometimes
Those Deathwing Knights we're Beastly!!!
Lion needs a 100 point price drop
Is Titanic really true LoS? Can't find that in rules..?
Woot Woot DA Chris is back in da house :)

John Deere Necrons Vs. Protractor Marines.
Bloody brilliant! Time to crack open the custard creams and zen out.
Lokhust Lord gets full rerolls against below half strength. Almost never comes up but would have here.
Terrain Goals. Good lord the tabletop is beautiful.
If I may ask, where did the model you're using for the Nightbringer come from? It's much nicer than the current GW one.
I mention it in the army intro. It's gem Den of Imagination
@@wintersSEO thanks. I saw. It's a great replacement model. I plan to check them out.
Holy Emperor!! That C'Tan Nightbringer, where and how... Take my money 🤑

some very green 90 degree angles i do say so myself
Gladiator lancers maybe. Over the Preds.
41:21-41:40 best part of the game :(
