I find myself coming more and more to see y'all on youtube. You are such a breath of fresh air and I'm thankful I found your channel! Have a blessed day!
Love to watch your daily life on the farm. Your children are the best well behaved I have seen in a long time and your guys have so much patience with them. Good luck with your vegetables.
@wvhickchick for any type of meat stock I get a large jug and put it in there..put in frig overnight and the fat will come to top ..skin off next day..reheat and pressure can for 20 mins for pints
Brown Swiss/Guernsey cattle are famous among cattle breeds for their cream content, you chose wisely! You can make yogurt If you whisk in starter culture; plain no-sugar store-bought yogurt around 4oz per gallon (possibly half or less but first time more is safer, whisk the starter in a little milk so it's finely dispersed then stir in with the bulk milk) let sit on the counter at around 70deg room temp until the next day (winter time I've used a warmed oven turned off to get it started) check for done and refrigerate. Make simple cottage cheese with the just lemon juice like you used in heated milk. Saturday mornings as kids we'd turn the crank on the old paddle butter churn while watching cartoons.
So happy I found your channel the other day (watched your pickled eggs vid). I'll be watching the older videos along the way til I'm completely caught up. Those onions you planted are pretty neat! Growing up (back in th 60s), from the time I was just a little girl, it was "my job" to plant onion sets each spring. We'd always have 2 big long rows of them. I always loved helping to plant garden. Not so much harvesting, but enjoyed planting. And as I grew, I got to help plant/harvest everything. Now I'm 70 and unable to have a garden where I live. I do put tomatoes alongside a chain link fence.
I grew up and lived the majority of my life like y'all live now and I'd never heard it called homesteading until TH-cam . We always called it farming lol. We raised our own meat, plus the hunters in the family supplied the wild meat and birds. Always had a big garden and our own fresh milk.
I have had green onions for years, and all I do is go back to the store, buy another bunch and plant them. I am good for another 5-7 years or more...🌱🌱🌱
I remember when I was little we would catch tadpoles on a jar ,then sit and watch them swim around. Before we had to go in we would take them back and turn them loose.Do again the next day 😂.This. Brought back those good memories .
My husband of 43 years drives me crazy. He either automatically says he can't do something or barely tries once then gives up. Me I try and if whatever fails or isn't as good as I want I step back to access the whole thing, figure out what can/needs to be done and keep trying until it's right. To me if you go in with the attitude/fear that you will fail then you're defeated at the start.. Whereas if you just remember that each failure is a learning experience and try again adjust as you go you're going to get it right eventually. Heck, when I was paralyzed I was told that there were things I'd never do, I took it as a challenge, adapted my way of doing things, no most things I can do like walk, cook, sew etc etc aren't done the way I used to but they are done and that's all that matters overall. It's the same with most things you attempt, it may not be exactly how the person, recipe etc says to do it, the ultimate goal is to get to the end and have something you're happy with. There are many ways to do things all that matters in the end is finding a way that works for you
Since discovering your channel a month ago I’ve found some wonderful peace in following your gentle real life. Your membership is growing fast it seems and I can see why! God Bless and I’m glad I found your family. 🙏
One year when I was younger I had a bunch of tadpoles in a container in the house. Came home from school and they were all gone, jumped out. We never found those frogs. 🤣🤣
Y’all live the great life, I use to live that way, raised my kids on a farm. We never bought store bought food, for that matter clothes either. But we had no electric or running water in the house, until 20 years later. That was the best time, I been watching your videos, brings back such great memories. I just wanted to say thank you. I really enjoy your videos. Stay strong and life is great, God Bless you all. Thanks again Megan. By the way I have a grand daughter named Megan, and a son in law named Andy, lol
❤ I just love watching your family work and play together! I didn't have that a lot as a child, and I tried hard as a single parent to do it with my children. I for sure do it all with my grandchildren
I just found your channel and love it! You two are such a delight to watch. I love your complete honesty and tell it like it is. Your kids are so cute and sweet. I stumbled across a video where you two were shocked at your (5,000?) viewers last year. You were honestly so grateful, it was heartwarming. Now you have thousands more and you will be amazed how your channel will grow I am sure because of your genuine honesty. This world needs more people like you and your family. I live in western Colorado and just love hearing “y’all” talk lol. Bless you both!! And thank you for continuing your channel and sharing your life.
Here in north GA we called it a biscuit cake. My mom would get tired of making up biscuits and do the cake. I think it tastes better than the biscuits. I love your videos and learn something new every video
Good morning! Thunderstorm here this morning. I sure enjoy all your videos, feels like I'm with friends! And I learn a lot. Your pone bread looked great - but the pork chops, omgoodness, yeah! I am a little envious of the fine compost y'all made. I do my best but only on a half acre here. Blessings
I wish I lived closer! I’d pay good money for that milk and cream! I do make homemade ricotta and it’s so delicious…especially in the summer with fresh tomatoes! That supper looks so good! I LOVE that you use the term supper! Growing up and still in our house…supper is in the evening and dinner is lunch! Makes me think of when I was a little girl! Try roasting your corn in the oven! I think roasting it at a high heat for a short amount of time concentrates the flavor a little…even when it’s been frozen. I’m not THAT much older…maybe 10 years than you but you make me so proud! My baby is 19 and my sister in law to my baby brother is 23 and they can cook like we do! It’s so important to teach people how to cook a real supper for their family! Keep doing you girl! You’re spreading so much important knowledge that literally can MAKE people’s lives. I couldn’t be more proud if you belonged to me! 😂
Hi Andy and Megan! That pone bread reminds me of Grandma. She used to make 2 pones which she called wheat bread along with a pot of potatoes and dumplings and that was all we needed. Your cheese really looked good. Seems like I remember someone around here that used to plant multiplier onions but I can't remember who it was. Y'all have a great weekend!
Hello from a little further south and west of hoss Brandon miss . Gotta get me some of those multiplying onions next year from hoss . He has the best seed I’ve used from anywhere.
Have you ever used your phone bread for strawberry or peach shortcake? My husband brought home two quarts of canned peaches after helping his dad with some chores, and I had made some shortcake. We ran out of strawberries to put over it, so I opened a jar of the peaches. We enjoyed it more than strawberries with the shortcake!
That brings back memories when we had a jersey. Loved making cheese. We have goats now, Alpines and Boers. We milked for the first time in a year today. We were on your livestream today, I commented on the Irish spring soap for deer. We have a bottle baby Alpine kid in the house that I had to take care of and cut out early. Love your content you guys are the real deal
I so enjoy everything you all do. The eggs are beautiful, the milk is awesome. The cheese looks so, so good. The food you have to serve to your family is the best a person could get. God Bless, Hugs, Rebekah
Most folks give up on making cheese after one try. If you want to get good at anything, you've gotta practice. Never seen a recipe that didn't involve pulling by hand, but have told folks that can't stand touching something hot to use two pairs of tongs, I don't use them myself, but the ones I suggested it to love it now.
My Momma made pone bread for us (4 boys, 2 girls) growing up. We had it for breakfast with streaked meat and gravy. We also had it for supper, it was great for sopping up all kinds of pot "likker", thanks for the memories. My son is a culinary student and he made mozzarella cheese for the first time this week. He said it was hot on the hands, lol. I will tell him about your video. Candy is a real asset to your homestead, love fresh raw milk. I make a lot of milk kefir and flavor it. Y'all are one of my top favorite channels now, because you always keep it real!!
Great job with the cheese.. Prayers for the herbs.. Love the bunched Orion.. l have never seen them before.. Beautiful way to end the day.. Much love and appreciation from Australia God bless you all
Good morning to you all. What a great video, so peaceful and great vittles. Thanks for sharing with us always enjoy watching you folks at the dinner table. Stay safe and keep up the great videos. Fred.
We would catch tadpoles and I took a bunch to a science teacher at my Middle school, and we got little frogs. We took them back where we caught them. Thanks for reminding me of that awesome memory.
We dig our multiplier onions when they die back, divide and replant in September for onions all winter here in western NC. It's nice having fresh green onion all winter.
I seen a video where she used her milk that was about to expire she would save it to pour over her vegetables in the garden. She said it made her vegetables grow better.
Andy, there are many varieties.. I also live in Georgia. Here I got “nesting onions”. I think the real name for them is Welsh Onions. I call them survival onions. I keep them from year to year. I freeze dry them (could freeze or dehydrate). They are the best onions for seasoning anything. I call them survival onions😁. Love, love, love them.
Omgosh I did similar with planting yarrow years ago. I was just getting interested in herbs and I bought yarrow plants because I had no idea what it was. After planting it I realized we have it growing everywhere around our place. lol I did finally get it out of the bed I planted it in. Love your videos! God bless.
Good to see yall, and a great looking supper What did you put in the ponbread. I will bake us some. Hope the multiplying onions make. Enjoy your videos God bless yall
This was a great video. Yay Megan on the mozarella. You did it. I love pone bread too. Looks so good. Supper looked good! Need to try the bunching onions. Have a blessed night.
Always look forward to your videos and thankyou very much for them. Just managed to make "biscuits" ( very close to our scones) after a couple of tries and an eager to try pone bread. Best wishes to all your family from ours in Queensland

Sun tea jars make good cream separators. Use the little spout with a push button to drain the skim until the cream reaches it.
What a great idea..
Thats a cool idea
Great idea!
I'm making stock fight now... wonder if that would work for separating the fat and broth...turkey broth is the hardest to make .
@wvhickchick for any type of meat stock I get a large jug and put it in there..put in frig overnight and the fat will come to top ..skin off next day..reheat and pressure can for 20 mins for pints
