I love how Greg explains everything. It’s almost like he’s really talking to u, taking it slow, step by step, and explains each step in detail so u clearly understand what’s going on before he moves on. It’s really nice. I’m glad I came to YN NAIL SCHOOL today! Thanks Greg!
I really liked this video because I've been a nail tech for years, but this was a different technique than I've done before. It makes sense to do it this way so it cures all the way through from top and bottom.
Wow!! Beautifully done maestro!! I’m a newbie manicurist and I absolutely love your videos. They’re very informative and educational. Thank you so much!!
Thank you for a Synergy Nail!!!!! Appreciate the demo! Now I know what to correct & do better! Think I missed what you mixed the glitter with. Going for a rerun. Please keep Synergy demos coming.
What type of gel is used in the overlay? I haven't started using gels yet, so they are completely foreign to me. I noticed that the tip was sculpter gel, then the base gel on the nail plate. Then the glitter mix, then...? Base gel again? Also, I'm assuming that some filing happened before the finish gel coat?
Thank you so much for teaching us all your techniques. Im learning how to work with gel now . Yesterday while practicing I built the perfect thin free edge but as soon as I took off the form it cracked And now I know why because I did my base coat before I built the free edge lol
I have just now found your channel. And I'm in love. You explain everything in a way everyone can understand why certain steps are critical to have a sturdy nail.. I've just started trying to do my own nails at home. I'm disabled and live on a scary haunted budget. $780.00 a month. (Enough to barely pay my light bill). And do without everything else. So I'm trying to do everything cheap but not waste the few spare dollars I have on products that are useless. I live in NC. Do you have any very cheap but good product ideas you can pass my way. I suck at everything but doing gel. Any help will be absolutely appreciated and listened to fully. Thanks for your great videos.
When doing a reverse application gel pink and white do you clear sculptor then white then a clear build over both the pink and white? THANKS FOR NAIL SCHOOL SERIOUSLY LOVE EVERYTHING YOUNG NAILS!! #stayingloyal
With your new products does this still apply or do the new sculpting in a tube allow u to use over the entire nail. I’m getting my nerve up to do my first sculpted nail with a form don’t want to mess up if I don’t have to find out the hard way
Im just back at college for my second year learning gel extensions ..thanks for the info..I do struggle with sculpts. I notice you use paper forms here, we are taught to use the clear gel forms.which I cannot get the hang of!! They always open when under the lamp and they never fit snug under the nail, I am always left with a ledge when I place my white at the free edge..Do i need to use the clear gel forms or is it possible to use the paper ones I use for acrylic?
Nails by Krissy hey there I definitely prefer paper forms for gel, those plastic ones are so impossible! My favorite forms are the Nail Harmony forms- they're more expensive than the basic gold ones but cut my sculpting and filing time in half ;) Check out ebay I think they're about $10 for 100.
Hi there- just curious, are the Nail Harmony forms thicker/stronger and have larger tabs underneath? I never understood why I always have a ledge under the nail with the gold ones grrrr. x
Would I be able to sub build for clear to create this look?. I just purchased protein bond as well as the base gel and build gel, thinking I could use build gel to create free edge and sculpted looks new to the products thankful for the video
Best gel tute ive ever watched. So informative! Ps is Greg getting a cold? Get him to drink boiled water... as much and as hot as he comfortably can. Works wonders!😁
I know this video is a bit older, but the protein bonder is being cured while creating the extensions. I’m assuming that is ok? Since usually I use the protein bond and then apply base-cure then make my extensions ? This Video is awesome but keeps missing the absolute small but IMPORTANT notes
The amount of heat can be a result of either what product you are using or how much product you apply. For example, our Synergy Base has more resins in it to give better adhesion. Because of this, it has more heat during the chemical reaction. If you were to apply a thick layer of Base, you would get an extreme amount of heat with it, so we do not recommend building structure with it, just use a thin layer to get the foundation of the nail. With the rest of our gels, they are designed to build structure and thickness, so they can be applied thicker and not have as much of a heat spike. However, as with any chemical reaction, there is a certain amount of heat, so if you apply a large amount of product, you will feel that heat. This is why we recommend using the "low heat mode" on our UV/LED lamp. This will slow the curing process so you don't get that "spike."
1. hard to put a number on it because some techs use it multiple time in a service, some nails are longer than others etc etc. 2 no it does not come in a larger bottle. 3 because when manufactured in a larger size it looses some of the quality of product and starts to run into issues so after extensive testing we have came to the conclusion that this chemistry in this size has the best results
Question... kinda Wouldn't you put the base on the nail plate first and cure it so the tiny bit of the extension that connects to the free edge has something to adhere to? Love, this overthinking Aussie 🙂
Ok. So you addressed it at the end... but I'm still a bit confused. Isn't the base gel to help the other gels adhere? Why would the free edge come off with base gel then? Love you Greg... hope you still love me 😎
Base has the most resin in it to anchor onto your nails. Base is your foundation for your nail. Never build with base. instagram.com/reel/CqBeBO-O1xv/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= You can definitely apply it first if you choose, but sometimes we like to apply it after to help anchor the free edge. The gel on the free edge will adhere to the natural nail just fine as long as it is prepped correctly.
Thanks for that video. I love your videos. I have learned sooooooo much from you. I have a question through. If you did those nails on a client, and then they came for their fill (rebalance) you would have to file down past the glitter color. By doing so, would the clear gel underneath be stable enough or would you have to fill the whole thing off? I just ask that because it would be sooooooo much faster this way if so
I have troubles seeing the clear when I place it on the forms ... should I apply more or is this a sign that I may need glasses lol bc it's my main problem and doing coffin with gel and pinching it
Try sculpting your free edge with the Clear Sculptor in the Precision Tube. This way, you can see exactly where you are squeezing the product out. You can also sculpt your extensions using the Concealer colors so you can see them better.
Second video I watch but I still can’t figure out what gel is mixed with the glitter. Another video it says flex but I can’t find it online at young nails 😩😭
You do art on so many Long nails. Can you show use some short one?? I ware short and know a lot of ladies that also wear short and its harder to do the art work on short nails.
please give some average as to how many full manis will protein bond give as i have to plan my purchases. its not available for purchase in India and i have to get some from my US trip this month. Thanks
I love how Greg explains everything. It’s almost like he’s really talking to u, taking it slow, step by step, and explains each step in detail so u clearly understand what’s going on before he moves on. It’s really nice. I’m glad I came to YN NAIL SCHOOL today! Thanks Greg!

Nice! We aren't learning gel in school so it's great to see teaching videos on it!
I really liked this video because I've been a nail tech for years, but this was a different technique than I've done before. It makes sense to do it this way so it cures all the way through from top and bottom.

Gypsy Ginger mostly because its a different brand so their steps are a little bit different
Thanks for this video. I’m planning on attending your OWC gel class in January.
Love the pillow idea! Gonig to try that. Thanks Greg
Thanks for the great tips. I was thinking about trying gel sculpted nails.
Nevermind my last request, I just found this one! 💜 You guys are awesome!
Thank you!!! Always learning something from these videos.
Great tips! I learn so much from these videos, thank you
Love working with gel! Beautiful!
❤️❤️❤️
Did I see that right? No filing at all? Damn!
Jenna Peterson yes I've found that their gels are really self leveling even the sculpture gels too. Minimal filing for me
Jenna, he had to have filed. The shape was more precise afterwards.
Thanks a BUNCH for these video's. They sure help!!! GREAT Form learning video. Tfs
We only do acrylic nails in our salon, but I think gels are beautiful. Thank you for this video.

Thank you so much for teaching us all your techniques. Im learning how to work with gel now . Yesterday while practicing I built the perfect thin free edge but as soon as I took off the form it cracked

Love your videos guys! They've helped me so much!
❤️❤️
Love love your protein bond!!!!!!!!! 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
What do you suggest for people who are alergic to acrylic nails? What would be a good suggestion for them to get their nails done?
You are the master!! 😁👍💅
Please. I would love to know the difference between a builder gel and hard gel and the acry gel?
When doing a reverse application gel pink and white do you clear sculptor then white then a clear build over both the pink and white? THANKS FOR NAIL SCHOOL SERIOUSLY LOVE EVERYTHING YOUNG NAILS!! #stayingloyal
I learn so much every video
Thanks for sharing much needed information
Thanks for posting a gel video! Please do more gel! What did he use to mix the glitter in?
Oh my..You don't need to file the nail smooth!! That's already look perfectly smooth!😶
With your new products does this still apply or do the new sculpting in a tube allow u to use over the entire nail. I’m getting my nerve up to do my first sculpted nail with a form don’t want to mess up if I don’t have to find out the hard way
Do you need to have a different brush for base gel and sculpting gel?
nope
Great lesson today! ❤️💅
Im just back at college for my second year learning gel extensions ..thanks for the info..I do struggle with sculpts. Thanks soo much for info!! I heading straight to ebay!
Try stapling them together.. And if your out don't buy them again😂
haha..good sound advice Boutie24 Borne!
Hi there- just curious, are the Nail Harmony forms thicker/stronger and have larger tabs underneath? I never understood why I always have a ledge under the nail with the gold ones grrrr. x
Yay! Maybe I can try this the next time I break a nail. Lol although I hope that never happens again, but more than likely it will. Great video.
Is it possible to over cure? When you get heat spikes does it damage the nail bed?
would the sculpting gel not need the base underneath it for it to keep stuck on the natural nail? =) the free edge gel i mean
Sorry if this sounds stupid. But, why does the free edge need to cure from underneath? The nail bed does not cure from underneath. Thank you.
Wow so beautiful 😍 I love you’ll guys videos 👌💅
Can you do the base get out the bottle over the sculpture nail...also would you ever train here in St. Louis?
Greg knows his shizz!!!
Would I be able to sub build for clear to create this look?. I just purchased protein bond as well as the base gel and build gel, thinking I could use build gel to create free edge and sculpted looks new to the products thankful for the video
Yep you can
Thank you excited to practice new looks Using this product.
how many full sets manicures does your starter kit with 7 gms jars give?
Hi Greg! What type of gel did you use after the glitter? Was that Base gel too?
I’m wondering also….
Understandable explanation. Thank you.
I had them ripped multiple times...thank you for the tips!
Great as always!!
Best gel tute ive ever watched. So informative!
Ps is Greg getting a cold? Get him to drink boiled water... as much and as hot as he comfortably can. Works wonders!😁
Can I use clear builder gel on the whole nail?
Extremely helpful, thank you! X
how long does it take to complete a whole set of gel sculpting? from nail prep to finish? Do you have to do a manicure? please help. Thank you
Within an hour is solid, we train to do under an hour... even some in 30.
I know this video is a bit older, but the protein bonder is being cured while creating the extensions. I’m assuming that is ok? Since usually I use the protein bond and then apply base-cure then make my extensions ? This
Video is awesome but keeps missing the absolute small but IMPORTANT notes
So sculpting gel is for the free edge panda base gel for all over?
Great explanation. Thank you
Wait so after curing the glitter gel what did u cap it with flex gel ???
Do heat spikes depend on product or what would it cause to get so much heat on the natural nail?
Awesome tutorials

1. how many full set manis do i get from the little bottle of protein bond? 2. does protein bond come in bigger bottles too? 3 if not, why?
1. hard to put a number on it because some techs use it multiple time in a service, some nails are longer than others etc etc. 2 no it does not come in a larger bottle. 3 because when manufactured in a larger size it looses some of the quality of product and starts to run into issues so after extensive testing we have came to the conclusion that this chemistry in this size has the best results
What if we use a clear form, would you still recommend to build the same or could you build with a glitter mix/pigmented gel etc?
Question... kinda
Wouldn't you put the base on the nail plate first and cure it so the tiny bit of the extension that connects to the free edge has something to adhere to?
Love, this overthinking Aussie 🙂
Ok. So you addressed it at the end... but I'm still a bit confused. Isn't the base gel to help the other gels adhere? Why would the free edge come off with base gel then?
Love you Greg... hope you still love me 😎
Base has the most resin in it to anchor onto your nails. Base is your foundation for your nail. Never build with base.

You can definitely apply it first if you choose, but sometimes we like to apply it after to help anchor the free edge. The gel on the free edge will adhere to the natural nail just fine as long as it is prepped correctly.
What was the clear gel Greg used after he applied the gel? It wasn't sculpter was it?

builder

what product did he use over the glitter, to build the nail? was it the sculptor or the build gel?
the free edge is built with clear sculptor, then base, then build to create the structure of the nail.
What the last product used? Thank you~ 😅
It's our ultimate finish top coat.
Ohhhhh well explained... Thanx .
Thank you for teach us!
You are amazing!
❤️❤️
Thank you👍🏼🙋🏻
please give some average as to how many full manis will protein bond give as i have to plan my purchases. its not available for purchase in India and i have to get some from my US trip this month. Thanks
Really depends on how you use it because some techs use it more than once per set, some nails are long etc. Rough guesstimate would be about a month?
@@youngnailsinc Thanks
