I put forward controls on my 2020 softail standard right after I purchased it. The dealer was trying to talk me out of it but after the fact I'm glad I did for sure.
I recently viewed the mid control install. I have a 2018 Fat Bob with a lot of mods. I have an extra set of S & S Grand National Slip Ons (all black if interested).

Hi! I know you do this video a couple years ago, i just find it, I’m thinking on the kid controls too, and for the bars, i get the lucky 13’s with a extension clutch (Harley), I order another a longer brake line. You need to extend the cables , cheers!!!
If you need some references for Fat Bob stuff, Being Here Now with Percy has a 2019 Fat Bob 114. He's done riser extensions and some stuff like that. His channel would be really helpful for you I think.
My thought… might be stupid… but it’s my thought…. If you don’t like forward controls…. It’s usually the rear brake that gives people the problem.. right? If you need to break and then get a foot on the ground asap after.. forward controls generally freak out newer riders.. …. Well..if you change the exhaust with some bassanis…or another slimmer profile, you can generally free up the space to put a mid control for the brake…. Leave the shifter where it is and just put a additional peg in line with the new brake position. And if you like.. keep a peg up from where the original forward peg also… no rule on how many foot pegs you have.
sweet set up.. i will be looking into for my 2018 fat bob... let me know how u like mx bars... the thickness on the stem is to big for mx so you will need new risers etc...

I'm 5'6" and I was concerned about the forward controls. I actually like them and I have no problem reaching them. I'd like to try the mid controls, but switching to those is a substantial time and money investment. My biggest issue is that the bars are too far away by and inch or two.
I woulda been alright with the forwards but I wanted a little more aggressive riding position. U r right, the mid kit isn't cheap. I am posting a video today about handlebar changes on my Bob. Basically u can run up to 8" total rise. Either 8" T bars or 4" bars on the factory risers.

I put V&H Shorts on mine so I can go with the normal HD brake mids but would still need to get the "Accessory" mids for the shift side. Are you thinking of changing the seat like you did on the Slim?
I actually already have a seat on order. Im waiting till it comes in to do a reveal, but I can say it's not an HD seat. In fact I still have the street bob seat and looking for a new home for it.

How’s the ground clearance? In comparison to the stock forwards which are right up against the frame, it looks like the pegs are pushed out much further in order to clear the exhaust
I've had a couple softails now and ridden several and I had no issue with the weight of any of them. The feel like they hold their weight low and are very well balanced. I could flat foot my Slim, and similarly a street bob and lowrider etc. My Fat Bob is a little taller so I can't flat foot it but I can confidently one foot it. It seems to sit very stable when stopped. I recommend test riding as many bikes as u can
First of al , great videos, absolutely helpful. I’m a tall rider 6.3 and live literally at the other side of the world (Thailand) and besides that they don’t have mid controls here it isn’t easy to get them here either so I would like to be sure . The fatbob gives me serious backache at my lumbar and I think it comes due to the sitting position , the Saddlemen step up seat didn’t solve the issue neither the handlebar raiser’s so my only hope are the mid controls , I have no problems with my back on my Ducati Streetfighter which have rear controls , how is your experience regarding back strain ?
Jeff, not really any regrets, just wish I had put more miles on the Slim before trading it in. Oh and the color, I miss the billiard blue. The fat bob is an excellent motorcycle. It handles soooo good and (in my opinion) it looks really cool. To be completely honest, after riding the New Chief 111cu, I was a tad disappointed in the power/power delivery of my 107cu. The 114cu is no joke. Tons of power and fun. I am excited to mold the fat bob into something unique. Going in the direction of urban tracker, if that's a thing.
@@aztriumphster I did like the blue and black color scheme the slim had. Never had the chance to test ride an Indian, I do like some of their designs. Its like I stated before, with the Dean Speed parts I have put on my 2020 Softail, I can't even imagine trading it in for anything else, it is the bike I always envisioned !! Looking forward to all the mods you'll be making on the fat bob, keep up the good work my friend, and if I ever make it out to P. Arizona, I'm stopping by the shop!!

I am 5.10 and I still prefer mid controls. All my bikes have been mid control bikes, its just a better and precise riding position

Yes, Percy did a set of 2.5" risers from CJ Motorsports with no cable issues.

I dont feel that its any wider than the stock location but compared to a street bob or lowrider S, they do feel slightly elevated
