      It's perfectly reasonable for him to be "subpar" as he's not actually an interviewer funnily enough. He's the wildly talented frontman and guitarist of Manic Street Preachers who's sold nearly 25 million records worldwide. He's also a lovely bloke. He uses those sorts of nicknames as a term of endearment, he does it a lot, I can assure you he was not referring to any connotations that name might have.

      Michael did a very snakey move against Paul. Sure he did pay to buy those Beatle songs, but he was given advice and tips from a guy who was in the music business longer than he was and used that information against him. Paul has every right to be angry and call him Jacko.

Saw Paul in Kiev in 2008, when the gig was almost cancelled due to heavy raining, he got on the stage risking his life and did a 3 hour set! We should be happy such people are still alive, never gonna happen with today's "stars"! And btw no respect to MJ after the copyright scandal, though his early Motown stuff is really great.

    just in case people are wondering who is calling jackson "jacko", the interviewer is james dean bradfield, the frontman of the manic street preachers. they are renowned internationally, they've even played cuba. james has an amazing vocal range, and real chops on the guitar. if you're ignorant of the man, that doesn't make him unworthy to call jackson "jacko". btw, if you play the original gran turismo and hear the intro, the "everything must go" song that plays is james dean bradfield's band playing - a remix of their single from their 1996 album of the same name. try listening to the likes of "she is suffering", "judge y'rself" or "nobody loved you" and judge james' abilities as a vocal artist. they're considerable.

      The 'Interviewer' is not an interviewer, he is James Dean Bradfield, singer and guitar player for the Manic Street Preachers - he generally comes across as being quite awkward when interviewed himself, so can you imagine how he felt interviewing Paul McCartney? Cut him some slack, plus Paul died in 1966.

    To those talking about how their voices are not that similar. They are talking about certain moments when they are singing in unison. Paul actually has a little bit greater vocal range than Michael, but Michael hits higher notes. Paul still hits very high notes and very low notes. Of course they have different accents and different voices, but he was speaking of singing high notes and moments of singing in unison. Their voices compliment one another so nicely. They sound great together in the three songs they did together.

    • @lostparlour
      @lostparlour ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i dont know how each voices sound to your ears, it's subjective and we all have personal choices towards music, however, on a technical level, i think both of them shared a 5 full octaves range, but paul can sing a deep baritone that mj couldnt, while mj can sing much higher notes that paul cannot, i love both voices personally, i think mj is a little more skilled on singing, while paul is better as a songwriter (yeah, both are serious songwriters and singers, i just thought that paul is better at writting songs than mj and vice versa)

    This comment section is so hilarous. Literally most of the comments are only there to defend MJ because of the fact that James Dean Bradfield called MJ "Jacko", others simply because they adore Paul. Maybe JDB, just like anyone else, was also reading the newspapers around that time about MJ with the name "Jacko" on it and thought that it is cool to say it that way. Being myself a JDB fan and also his band Manic Street Preachers, I honestly think he is not a MJ fan (and that's why he named him that way IMO and didn't know that MJ didn't like it) but entirely respect him and his music. And just so you know, JDB (the "interviewer") is a guitar genious, a great musician and a great human being. HE IS NOT AN INTERVIEWER LOL. And finally, talking about Paul, he also had his things with MJ, as far as I know.

    *As the story goes, Paul McCartney made a big mistake sharing his investing advice with Jackson. After he told his two-time duet partner how much money could be made by buying the publishing rights to hit songs, the “King of Pop” turned around and bought the company that owned most of the Fab Four’s catalog. “I think it’s dodgy to do things like that,” was McCartney’s surprisingly measured response, “to be someone’s friend and then buy the rug they’re standing on.”*

      Referring to Michael as Jacko or Jackal is rude and disrespectful and Michael does not deserve that kind of reference. Michael was always a gentleman who was well mannered and polite to everyone. He treated others with respect and he deserves the same respect for himself. He has spoken about this publicly saying that it hurts him when he is called Jacko, and that he doesn't like his children to hear him referred to that way. Fans of Michael are offended by such references too. I could tell that Paul disapproved of JDB using that word Jacko and he politely corrected him by saying Michael. Please show some respect.

    When Paul approached Yoko about paying half the cost, she said she would try to negotiate the price down. She ended up causing the price to go up because she's such a bad negotiator. Paul then refused to pay the full cost out of principal because he didn't think it should be so high. That's when Michael came in and purchased the catalogue out right.

      I think none of this would have happened if John was still alive. John would have probably bought the rights to the Beatles songs. Paul was way ahead of Jackson in other ways, because Mike was a recluse, whereas Paul was social and made friends in many fields.

    Ok,I'm just hoping that someone who knows the answer or someone who is close enough to Paul to ask him this question is reading this. Ok question:In the strawberry fields forever video when Paul jumps from the tree,did he really jump from that height or did he hang and drop? Because there's a cut that only shows the drop from just below the branch. And we see him on the branch. Because if he made that complete jump then its very impressive,but if its a hang and drop job with an edit its still impressive but not as much. PEACE ✌ and LOVE

    • @MiggyStyx
      @MiggyStyx 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pure logic is the answer to your question, dude 😂
      No human being, even the musical god that is Paul McCartney, can simply crouch down and jump that high in the air.

    • @craigwarner6156
      @craigwarner6156 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Miguel Moreno I think you miss understand the question. I'm talking about the jump FROM the branch,not a jump TO the branch from the ground. Because if you've seen the video where he's jumping fro the ground on to the branch then your seeing it in reverse. The scene was filmed with him already on the branch,and then we see him drop. I know that its impossible for somebody to jump onto the branch from the ground.

    • @craigwarner6156
      @craigwarner6156 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Miguel Moreno do you get me now? It was filmed with Paul starting on the branch and then jumping or hanging and dropping from the branch and then it's seen in reverse to make it look like he's jumping from the ground on to the branch. So I was asking if he jumped off branch onto ground or if he hung from the branch by his hands so his feet were closer to the ground and then dropped

But yes,I thought Paul had been standing on the branch and then the stopped the camera and just filmed him hanging from the branch and dropping . WOWW people are so PC these days Jesus Christ. James Dean Bradfield, the "interviewer" is a Welsh musician, who plays guitar and sings for Manic Street Preachers. He knows his stuff when it comes to music so let him ask what he wants. Also, that whole "jacko" thing, British people tend to shorten names a lot, for example, James' bandmate is called Nicky and James calls him Nick. It's not an offensive thing to do. People get so butthurt.

    • @neilevans4352
      @neilevans4352 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      absolutely right, it,s common in wales to have nicknames at different times ive had evdog, pws, nobby, and nelly, and people ive grown up with have, spew, deet, snakey, pig, the list goes on , its not insulting just a term of endearment, your irish or could be American (butthurt) lol, but I'm sure its not unique to wales, people need to chill out.

    The best thing about this interview are the ridiculous comments underneath. Out of all the things in the history of time, one half-second abbreviation of someone's surname has really really upset people! He abbreviated a name, of *course* he must be a terrible human being. James Dean Bradfield tends to give people throwaway nicknames when he talks about them, that's just his jokey way of talking. He's clearly not trying to disrespect MJ here, he actually seems quite admiring (even though he has perfect reason not to be). But there's no point trying to convince you lot, Jackson fans tend to be in denial of the most obvious facts. Just thought I'd try to put a minute in to defend someone who I know to be a stand-up guy and great talent (the fact that you guys haven't even heard of him suggests quite a limited music knowledge, anyway...)

    • @marcopiscopo2267
      @marcopiscopo2267 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i agree with you but you can also see how paul himself is a little uncomfortable because when james says "jacko" paul correct him saying "michael" so it was a little awkward

    • @penelopeodonnell4178
      @penelopeodonnell4178 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Mila Ash You must be incredibly naive if you think that he is giving Michael Jackson an affectionate nickname. It is and was widely used in the press as a derogatory name. No one who knew the man would use it (hence Paul's awkward correction). Does it mean he is a terrible human being? No. But it is disrespectful and that is a fact that *you* are in denial about. It's just bizzare to not refer to someone by their actual name, particularly when 1) The name is something Jackson found insulting and 2) He didn't even know the Jackson. I would not like it. Paul didn't seem to like it. What's the big deal?
      I have never in my life been in denial about a fact, I'm a fucking scientist. However what you think is an "obvious fact" may be (unbeknownst to you) untrue, especially when it concerns Michael Jackson. I like the truth and *will* correct those that spread false facts.

    Misconception led by cultural difference then. I like three of them, especially MJ when I was in middle school and MSP now. I think it's quiet reasonable for MJ fans to feel offended because JDB called him Jacko. Just solve the misunderstanding and that's all. No way could JDB said that in a racist way referring to MSP's political opinions. Also, the point is to clear this up, not saying JDB is talented in his rights so he could say anything, is that too difficult for some of you to understand? This is the real bizarre thing. What's more, a band or musician's accomplishment is undoubtedly not really related with the business achievements isn't it? An example which may not so serious, Karl Marx may not that popular in today's commercial colleges and the mainstream economics but it doesn't mean Marxist political economy is any secondary okay? Fair enough for your meaningless disputes.
