Hi guys, thanks for taking us around this show, some incredible vehicles! Great to see RV Matt!! Kids did a great job filming for his vlogs. All the best Julia and Gary ❤
I’ll be honest, I think you are still trying to ride two horses at the same time with the proposed new van. I think for it to make a notable difference in the tight spaces and rough roads abroad, you need to go quite a lot smaller and more rugged. Maybe consider hiring a separate van for the boys if they want to come with you on future trips?
Seems like you guys have had an awesome trip. I managed to catch you for quite some parts of the journey. Many, many thanks for bringing us along! I'm still waiting for the genie to ' come out of the bottle' to solve the conundrum of fitting a 9m motorhome into a 6m panel van😂. When you solve that one, I want to be the first to know! Thanks again and great to see ALL the family happy to travel together. Congrats to you both - you're obviously doing lots just right!
My wife and I have always had swift motor homes and like you got stuck but in Paris then I bought a converted van , no more noise , park anywhere love it . Only 6. 2 m long ❤️
Hi Guys just my opinion, sell the Buzz while you can demand a good price before it ages regardless of how often you have used it and capitalise on the fit out etc, put the rev to a better ice motorhome that you want that covers your needs now and forward. 👍🏼
Once you buy a Frankia you won't ever go back. Beautiful vans, we have the i8400 Platin Plus on Mercedes chassis and love our rear lounge. Its an absolute quality motorhome. You will love it ❤
I'm with you Lyndsay need comfort. To be able to put your feet up is a necessity for me, only 5 foot tall, most of the time my feet don't touch the floor from the seats ! I think as the boys are at that age of branching out in life ( not George though yet !) Wouldn't it be better to go for something for 3/4. The boys could always have a tent to tag on occasionally? They could be wanting to bring along friends/ girlfriends etc. And would possibly have their own wheels too. When we were looking to buy our 1st motorhome we told the salesman we needed at least 3 seats to accommodate our grandson who we looked after once a week. He told us not to do that because for the rest of the time we wouldn't need that facility. At the time l thought he was a bit harsh ( or hated kids 😅!) But within 6 months plans had changed & we then didn't need the layout we'd bought for that occasional use. Needless to say our other vans have been bought with just us two in mind.
We recently changed our Knaus AClass for a Dethleffs Grand Alpa coach built and we love it - perfect layout (there’s just 2 of us plus a dog) and feels smaller to drive than the 7.5m A class. I can only agree with all of your comments on the Dethleffs!!
Stayed at that aire mid-September. Only place I paid for in 76 days: but best to have camera/barrier security that close to the port. Had a good time wandering around Calais Plage. Great look around the show 👌💙❤️
I know what you mean about dilemmas when choosing a motorhome or camper. We much prefer our LWB Sprinter over the coach built we previously owned. We can take it anywhere. But there are compromises with space. Our favourite saying when trying to pass each other in the galley is 'think skinny'! But it is still a squeeze. Our next van is a Vario with a little more space and more payload. We hope to also gain a larger bathroom. But the compromise is driving position etc as it is older....no cruise control etc but also no electronics to go wrong...oh what dilemmas to have!
The huge windscreen gives an amazing panoramic driving experience. Also the use of space at the front is far superior than an MH with a fixed overhead compartment. Nothing beats an A class in my view but I would never pay that amount for a MH we hit too many things lol 😅
Hi. Another great vlog! Just adding my thoughts on your next van just based on experience....we've had caravans, big ones, basecamp, big 6 berth motorhome, vw transporter and now have reached my favourite outfit ever!! The big motorhome restricted us massively for what we wanted to do, so did caravans.....we absolutely loved our vw but we wanted a bit more luxury and a washroom. Sooo having thought we wanted the big space, our kids are now grown up and there's just the two of us and 2 labradors. We have bought an autotrail v line 610 with rear lounge at 5.99m long from Oaktree. It is a complete game changer!! We can go anywhere but still have our washroom, oven, microwave etc. I love to relax in the rear lounge which then makes up a super king bed. Paul can stay in bed and i can sit on the swivel captains seat. I just love it...we can Campsite or go off grid and go to van meets. Lyndsey seriously do not rule out a panel van 😊
One factor you haven't taken into account is the Frankia has a Mercedes engine and the Dethleff is Iveco I think. I'd always prefer the Mercedes option for reliability, quality and fuel consumption.
Thankyou for sharing such a great show for us! Agree totally, dislike front dining/lounge area for couples! So much a waste of space & uncomfortable! Reimagining is really needed, especially for couples market! Also much more difficult if you’re Australian & want something that suits you, for your time in Europe: less than 6m! Let’s not discuss LH/RH drive 4WD, manual/auto & AC! All toooo difficult! Loved your vlog, great to hear your perspectives! TA! Looking forward to your wrap up!!
Don’t get the waste of space comment. We have a 6m van and using the cab space makes the whole lounge area larger giving us a permanent toilet room and garage at the back as well. The lounge seats 5 no problem and it’s only two of us in it. Plus to get out the main side door you don’t have to squeeze past anyone cooking. Works for us and I’m 6ft.
Really suprised if you are considering a panel van with additional space you haven't considered the Chausson X650. It's got everything you are asking for comfy lounge, 4 berths, garage, decent living space. If you want rugged I think they do an option for a set of alloys and off road tyres. Stick some air suspension on there and you'd be laughing
Great summer Vvlog and great NEC rap up, you will find your next downgraded van soo, but I say you will probably stayed the same and your boys just love travelling with you, so it could be another 10 years before they even think about not travelling with you.... all good, thanks guys. Love your show.
Keep the MH you know and love, trade the Buzz in for a 2 berth 4x4. Speaking from experience our family hols while the children were living at home peter out when they were around 20 years old at the latest. Traded our Burstner IXEO+IT875 tag axel in 2019 for a new Ford Ranger Wildtrack 3.2auto and Tischer 230s (side door) demountable. Have travelled 50;000 miles in this and find it is better for us in every aspect apart from the extra room that I never even missed, despite the small area it’s open and airy. Also cheaper to ship if you are thinking of going to the USA, Thanks for the showround at Düsseldorf useful comparisons.
Hi guys, I thought the Frankie I680 plus is 7.1m long, and therefore only 0.4m shorter than the I740 plus. I think your video says there is nearly a meter difference. But looks a great van though.
Some great vans at the show this year, your food looks great unfortunately we ended up paying 40 quid for two children's portions of fish and chips not chips Fry's ridiculous prices, taking our own food next time.
We've pretty much been everywhere in Europe at this point (self converted 6m Ducato). We only wild camp (campsite maybe once per month maximum) and we're in it about 6 months per year. Unless you can get it down closer to 6m or even 5.5m (at which point a lot more car parks etc will be doable and trickier roads / manoeuvres will be possible) I wouldn't worry about whether it's 7m or 8m. Enjoy the new van when you get it!
Hi to the Eadford family, what make of ladders were they for cleaning the van please? We really struggle to clean the motorhome roof but they looked perfect. Thank you ☺️
Hi Why not look at a new Carthago motor home with all the luxury and have an awning for the boys to sleep because it’s only for sometimes and it is usually hot countries you visit. Just a suggestion.
Just saw Matt's video and just subscribed to your channel. George was funny in the video. When you come to the states, come to Duluth, Minnesota and see the Great Lake Superior. Would love to meet you if you do come To Minnesota. I will be watching more of your past videos and your future ones. Enjoy, My name is Earl Ribaudo and I live in Duluth.
Hi Steve and Lynsey fantastic filming at the show Been following you hoping to encourage my husband to travel to Turkey. Could you please provide a link for the camp near Calais where you stayed before you left for Calais the tunnel. Looking forward to what you two decide to buy to replace your Kontiki. Keep doing such great filming.
Hi Steve and Lindsay, hope you are and the family are well,…..long time no see!! . Not watched it fully yet but IH motorhome a do a slide out version of a panel van..🤔💡
The big Alpa will not be £122k - the 6820 (smaller one which we have) new range on coach built around £150k and A class around £170k the larger 7820 (XL) a class around £185k Good comparison and it’s the first time the A class has been at the show - but the garage is a lot smaller than it’s coach built alternative
We did see how expensive they were in the UK as they had a couple of them at the NEC show this week, however as we showed you at 25 minutes into the video, the base version of the larger coach built Alpa XL was €145,299, and the smaller A-Class Alpa was a very similar price, which is just over £120k, so it’s much cheaper to buy one in Germany.
@@RoamingRadfords yep I think if your a cash buyer and don’t mind left hand drive seems better to buy in Germany and get the extras fitted back in the UK.
Great episode as usual, super to meet you on Friday at NEC, we forgot to ask as You tubers have been on the programme before, which one of you two will be on Strictly?
I also like Dethleffs layout with big lounge in the back .Maybe because i have Caravan which have big lounge so i got use to that and is weird for me with out it .Also having Caravan i always felt cramped in most motorhomes i been in to. LIke in most Europe motorhomes you cant walk in the back becase beds in back are elevated to have a big storage space under bed .I really dont like that ,i like caravans and motorhomes where i can walk from front to back off vehicle so it feel much more spacious
Hi, have a look at the Thor Vegas, sold in UK by Signature RV, special deal on 2024 model. Might have what you're looking for, not too big, slide out and a nice looking Motorhome, we're looking atgetting one of the Hurricane or similar models.
Bought your Surfshark offer, having nightmares with it, virtually stops us doing anything, today wouldn’t let a phone connect to the internet until it was disconnected, can’t pay for goods on Amazon as an example 🤬🤬
It could be just a dead battery. The solar should be delivering a trickle charge to the starter battery or a battery master to transfer extra current to the starter. - if not then I agree it has not been set up as it should. However - they have been driving a lot so no of this should be needed so that suggests another problem.
Difficult choice between the A class and Coachbuilt. We've had four A class vans and now "downsized" to a 7.5 m coachbuilt. I do prefer driving the coachbuilt to the A class vans but.....the 2.3l engine is a real disappointment after 3.0l Iveco's in the previous two vans, even though its been remapped to 180 ish bhp, its a real chore driving the hills in Europe. Thankfully we will not be choosing another van, current one is the last. The Calais Aire is interesting. We've stayed there many times after it was moved from the dock area, often sharing with only a couple of other vans but its strange that now you have to pay to stay, its rammed, but qualifying that, we have found Europe to be quite overcrowded with motorhomes this year. The campsite next door is good, facilities have been spotless and most of the pitches are a decent size but it's closed during the winter. Graet video though and good to see the boys contributing to the reviews. BTW, ever thought of doing a spinoff channel about food?
Hi to you all, I love watching your videos every week. I have had a caravan for 32 years and I love it. But I've always wanted a motorhome. I want to start taking my parents away and the way I want to do it is to buy a small old motorhome and tow my caravan for my parents to stay in. So they can have the caravan which they used to own and I can stay in the motorhome. We then could use the motorhome to go out during the day so we have our own facilities which my mother needs. I would also use the motorhome home as my every day transport. I will only have a budget of around £6,000 so I know i would not be getting anything very new. But I was wondering if you had any advice. I would really appreciate it. The motorhome would just be for me and my little dog. Love your videos every week, I look forward to watching every Sunday. Keep them coming. Best wishes Haiden and Jessie the dog. x
The campsite opposite the Camping car at calais is lovely. Great shower blocks and only about 1 to 2 euros more per night with ACSI card. Would recommend 😊
Matt and you guys Go Carting Just remember when Lewis Hamilton was Go Carting round tracks at the age of 8-10 and look what he ended up making his career!!!!!!!!! Looking at what is available on the market from the very basic van to all singing all dancing where you can spend say £50,000 to £500,000 and more Also tech is changing all the time - it’s like computers and phones. How is the EV industry with regard to RV’s and range - the battery and charging Looking forward to your new journey with replacement RV 😃😄😄😄😃😃😃❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩
The Buzz is still going strong as our 2nd car and occasional Campervan. I went away in it last month and made a video about it on my Steve Radford channel th-cam.com/video/P7UJPjau30M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zB4K49c_Kq2JbzSH
So you've put it out there for your New Van, so looking forward to seeing this develop on your journey 😉was nice seeing you at the NEC show on Thursday, as Deborah said, I like to catch up with your vlogs in the morning, and was great to see you looking for your next MoHo. looking forward to your round up video, all the best Chris & Debs 😊
Absolutely, but let’s be clear, we have no plans on selling the van anytime soon as it’s perfect for us right now. This is purely an exercise to show you the process we go through whilst looking for a new van, and to show you our favourite layout for when it’s just the 2 of us. It’s a shame Swift doesn’t currently offer this layout in any of their vans.
stick with the comfort and luxury,,do not go for off roading,,,you enjoy more comfort then you do off roads,Also if your paying the same price then go for the bigger and better one
Hi Guys. HELP!! We're struggling weather to keep our Bailey 2019 Unicorn Cabrara or move over to Motorhome and its driving us nuts deciding 😅. Whilst we like the flexibility to be able to use the car on site we feel a motorhome would be better use in the winter months and using Ayres gives more movement and staying power etc... Can I ask, what made you decide to change from a caravan to a motorhome in the first place. How long did you have a caravan and would you ever go back to a caravan and if not why? Do you feel restricted not bring able to drive around when you are parked up? Appreciate your guidance. Have a wonderful week! 😊
We changed when we wanted to do road trips, aires and wild camping, rather than just staying at campsites in a caravan. We had our caravan for around 2 years. We’d never go back to just a caravan, although I often say I’d like both if I could.
Hi all. The trouble with these shows is that you are looking at someone else design and ideas and your own. Tube has a lot of videos of people that bye a truck and build to their own design and ideas
The extras will go with the van, but let’s be clear, we have no plans on selling the van anytime soon. This is purely an exercise to show you the process we go through whilst looking for a new van, and to show you our favourite layout for when it’s just the 2 of us.
Go to surfshark.com/radfords for 4 extra months of Surfshark.
Another thought. Keep your van which you love. Put off road tyres and if you raise the suspension it gives you the clearance you aspire.

Just like us you've kept changing your minds because luxury and space always wins you over in the end 😅😂❤❤❤

Have you looked into the cost of a custom build? You probably know a good chap to speak to. IMO it's the best way to get exactly what you need.
stay away fro customers build. they do not have the experience of all the issues like a company does.

This is the last part of the holiday
Think you should look at slide outs
Try vanoligy conversions design your own van
Matt and you guys Go Carting
Just remember when Lewis Hamilton was Go Carting round tracks at the age of 8-10 and look what he ended up making his career!!!!!!!!!
Looking at what is available on the market from the very basic van to all singing all dancing where you can spend say £50,000 to £500,000 and more
Also tech is changing all the time - it’s like computers and phones.
How is the EV industry with regard to RV’s and range - the battery and charging
Looking forward to your new journey with replacement RV
😃😄😄😄😃😃😃❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩
5 persons at a push, I’d say 6 would be better, your oldest can then take his girl freind along😉😉
So what happened to the Buzz you never mention nowadays ?
The Buzz is still going strong as our 2nd car and occasional Campervan. I went away in it last month and made a video about it on my Steve Radford channel th-cam.com/video/P7UJPjau30M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zB4K49c_Kq2JbzSH
It seems that you like a bit from different vans so why don’t you just put them together and build your own or get someone to build it for you.
Great vid guys!!, Is your m8 Geeky Phil still on the scene? I would love to get him to do some jobs for me!!
Absolutely Phil is still around, but I’m afraid he doesn’t do any work for anyone else, just a few close friends
@@RoamingRadfords Thanks for the info that’s a shame
Buy a man 4x4 lutin and get coalition to build it too wot u wont.
Very informative and enjoyable video, Very Well done
I think you need to test drive a luxury a class 😉
Well done guys. Great content. What's next? Have a great week! 😊
❤🇲🇦💚
Buy British , RP motorhomes :)
stick with the comfort and luxury,,do not go for off roading,,,you enjoy more comfort then you do off roads,Also if your paying the same price then go for the bigger and better one
Do camper vans have six belts if not why not
Why not buy a 2nd hand coach and design it yourselves
Morning everyone😊
Good morning
Hi Guys.
Hi guys great vid as always ❤ if you decide to sell your current motorhome I'll give you £50,000 and take a chance with it 😊
If you would of waited... fuel price is cheaper in UK than France....
Hi This is open for discussion but do pop tops make the van colder !! Ps enjoyed your Turkey trip. Regards
Hi all. The trouble with these shows is that you are looking at someone else design and ideas and your own. Tube has a lot of videos of people that bye a truck and build to their own design and ideas
🎉🎉🎉🤗💕🇿🇦🇿🇦🎥👍
Just stick to your own van
What’s happens to the extras spent on your van?
The extras will go with the van, but let’s be clear, we have no plans on selling the van anytime soon. This is purely an exercise to show you the process we go through whilst looking for a new van, and to show you our favourite layout for when it’s just the 2 of us.
Considered a 5th wheel option. Slide outs and you get to buy a truck to tow it with.🤣
Maybe in the US, but not as our main leisure vehicle for the UK and Europe.
Saw one if those wrecked in corfe this year not built for uk
