4:29 I just love the way you explain everything so easily. I’m old and haggard and, I’ve cried way too much in my life so my eyes are crepey and hooded. Following your gorgeous tutorials has given me confidence in my makeup and, I no longer despair when I look in the mirror. Thank you Risa; you’re brilliant!
@@RisaDoesMakeupI just discovered you today. You and I have similar color and tone and eye color. I’ve clicked on your links to the eyeshadow and eyeshadow primer among others but those are my top priority right now. I’m glad for the young women of toddy who have makeup tutorials. Wish I had had them back in 1981! I’m a wee bit older than you (57) but I think it’ll work for me if you have a 60 y.o. commenting! ❤
Luv how many older ladies are commenting. This is a feature that becomes more pronounced as we age and having a solution makes a huge difference. Thanks for an easy to follow and easy to do option.
Jeez do I appreciate this tutorial! The close up makes all the difference, and your spoken directives are on point. And THANK YOU for acknowledging mess and things that might seem counter-intuitive. Perfectionists applaud you.
Wow, Risa! This really works! I followed along with you as I did my eyes this morning and took your advice to ignore the mess along the way. My shadow looks so well blended! Amazing tip! Thank you! Also, now that I’m 60, I feel eye shadow is more important than ever to combat the droop and define the eyes. 😊
@@andreahs8608 I also followed her direction this morning and my eyes look pretty good... I usually never use the really dark browns but now I will get some use out of them.... Thanks Risa!!!
I have started using this method for a couple of months now and it works every time. I'm 76 yrs old and have worn makeup for many, many years and the way you apply makeup must change with not only trends but age too. Great video and lesson!
I love this tutorial, Risa! At age 70 with lifelong hooded eyes, my drooping lids have become really problematic. I can’t wait to try this application method! 💖
Freaking genius! The timing of this for me is perfect as I have my son’s wedding next month and was wanting to find an easy way to do a smoky, glam makeup look.
I am 56 and have been doing my make-up since I was so young I had to sneak it to school and put it on in the bathroom! Haha. This is hands down THE BEST and EASIEST tutorial to follow for this look! I am shook! Bravo young lady!
THANK YOU for including the brushes used. For those of us outside USA, we at least have a reference to compare for something more affordable in our own countries. I'll definitely be trying this method.

I'm 40 & my whole face has completely changed. My eye's are so hooded how. Can't wait to try this technique. They days of winged eyeliner are long gone.
Great! I can't wait to try this tomorrow. I particularly appreciate being "instructed" to get messy. What an opportunity to have fun with makeup, which it is as it should be.
This is EXACTLY the video tutorial I have been needing, wanting, looking for...no longing for ever since my mid 30's! I swear I've watched and tried every method there is and this has to be hands down the best and easiest of them all!!! Thank you sooooooooo much!

I've been doing my makeup like this for as long as I can remember. I've watched and tried a lot of other hooded eye videos over the years and haven't found any that fit me. I remember when I was first learning to wear makeup and all we had to go by were Teen Magazines and the tiny diagrams on the back of the eyeshadows. I'd get so frustrated because I looked like a clown trying to pack all those colors where they instructed. Eventually, I put down the magazines and my inner artist came out. After a lot of trial and error. I'm glad to see someone else validating the "slop-on, swipe-off" method. Just go with the canvas, the color will follow! 😊
I tighline my water line first so I don’t mess my shadow up. I literally have to use my finger to lift my lashes and pull my lid off my eyeball or else it tickles or I poke my eye lol. Thanks for all your tips Risa. I do have that downturned fold at the ends of my hooded eyes and making a mess just happens but cleaning it up at the end has made a huge improvement to the overall look. I can not pull off an eyeliner wing at all cause of my shape but using shadow for the effect is very real
I tried your winged liner method and it was GREAT! Not perfect at first, but I loved it because it’s the closest I have ever been to a winged eyeliner since I was in my 40s. I am 62. Next I will try cluster eyelashes. Also-I appreciate how you give an honest opinion and vocally acknowledge what is sponsored or not. That makes a real difference to me. I will continue to watch your channel!!!
Thank you Risa for zooming in and showing the actual texture and nature of the tricky skin that some of us have at the outer eye. I have similar texture and hooding but I love eyeshadow so I’ll give your method a try.
Thank you Risa! Your hooded eyes tutorials were the reason why I started watching your channel in the first place - I did not even know what hooded eyes were. I appreciate the reminder - and for this in particular, quick and easy! Your tips are always so helpful to me! Love ya!! 😊🤗💕
THANK YOU RISA! 👏🤗 I just started wearing more than eyeliner and lip gloss, last year, at 54yrs old. I wanted focus on my best feature; my eyes, so I’ve watched tons of hooded eye videos, tried all the methods and was still frustrated. Although I enjoy dressing my eyes up, it’s been dang difficult, imperfect and time consuming, until I landed on this video🤗. Your method is EVERYTHING I was looking for: simple, beautiful, fail proof and quick! This is now my daily go-to for my hooded eyes!! 🎉🏆
I did this technique this morning and found it so quick and easy, loving the way it turned out. Your videos are so well done and thought out, thank you
This just made my life so much easier! If I can make myself fight my perfectionism, and make the mess, I really think there's hope for getting that look! Thank you so much!!!
Mine were hanging so low I could see my eyelashes when I was reading! At 68, Medicare paid after me getting the test showing what I could and could not see. There was an extra part of the procedure that Medicare wouldn't pay for (because they consider it cosmetic) and the doctor told me right up front about that but he said if I don't do this part of the procedure you won't be happy with the result! So we paid the extra and I was glad!@@dizzieblonde2010

Risa this is genius 😃 I will try it no doubt! Now that I’m 60 my eye makeup has become more challenging 😝 thank you for sharing this amazing tutorial ❤
Although I disagree with needing to build up your color (you can simply begin with the darkest shadow you're going to use & then apply/ blend in a lighter, complimentary shade above, and that's all you need), I applaud your simple method and love how you explained it. The rule of thumb is, most of the time, the fix is a lot simpler than you think it is. It only looks & FEELS more complicated because you're failing to accomplish something. I appreciate your time, advice, and knowledge.
Risa, you nailed this tutorial. It is perfect! The close-up view is amazing!!!! And the step-by-step instructions are perfect. Thank you for this video.
Thank you SO MUCH for this quick and easy, but very effective, tutorial. I’ve always had hooded eyes, but now that I’m 50, the skin is also becoming loose. This method works so well and makes me feel like I look less old and tired. ❤
Thank you for continuing to show hooded eye ideas. I’ve always loved to do my eyeshadow but was about to give up on my hooded eyes. Gonna try this method!
Love this! Amazingly, I don’t really have hooded eyes at 71 but I do have that proverbial sag/hood at the end so have to be careful how to lift my eyeshadow so it ends up in the right place. I can see that this will work for that! Thanks Risa! This is so helpful!
Chef's kiss 💋! I don't even have hooded eyes per se, but they do turn down at the outer corners and I therefore have problems creating the simplest winged eye shadow look. Having essential tremor in my hands doesn't help Am definitely going to try this tomorrow! ❤xoxo
I really appreciate these videos geared hooded eyes. I’m someone who has given up on eyeliner and it used to be the one thing I had to do before stepping out of my house.
