Oh wow interesting. Just came back from Nam and saw a bunch of beautiful old Vespas. But they’re known as bodges there and poorly made huh? Good to know.

Haha you should see mine, it’s an absolute dog compared to this one! patches welded on it everywhere, foam falling out of the seat , seat frame split in half, Stella can shim on the headset, auxiliary battery powered bicycle lights for when the main lights blow. does have a new petrol tank though.

Bad weld jobs? Ok. Theres a difference between how youre scaring people with things you say you e seen vs whats on that scoot. Someone put wings on the front… and?! Did they think they were getting a 100% restored Vespa? Then yes they didnt get that. I have a Motovespa that is a legit licensed Vespa from spain with 10” wheels, according to you its fake? Yikes… dangerous parts, bad welds OK scaring people out of context seems to serve you more than the client

It’s a term for a Vietnamese Restoration. A lot of these old Vespa’s have been around the South Pacific for decades. They have been used up and there are restoration shops that put two or three of them together to make one, in unsafe ways. I have seen bad welds, extremely bad rust, soda can pistons and other things that are dangerous, all covered up with shinny paint and chrome

Find an old, original looking Vespa. They are usually, nice scooter’s. Avoid overly shinny and chrome. I know good people which are into Vespa’s and can get you a nice example 208-620-0769

@@emppowersportsandmarine6270 no, you didn't. you just copy/paste same bs that keeps rolling on internet. yes, there there is/can be bad body work from viet/india scooters (mainly piaggio vespas and lambretas) and can be fixed with cheap parts etc. but this doesn't mean all of them are just same crazy death trap and same crazy stories that keep flooding forums (most of them are related to same story of rusted tube lambreta frame cracking in half etc), most of them are rooling the streets for decades. for sure, if you want perfect resto, you need to invest a lot of work into it, just you would need to with any other "real" vespa with bad work done on it. same thig hapeening with all other "star" odltimers, porsches etc included.
all this "viet bodge" nonsense is being hyped up too roof, mainy from old, "genuine" dealers which now are under pressure when new blood is getting into businnes etc.

When is a tool not a tool lol .. if Piaggio licensed indians to make vespas they are vespas. They didnt make them all in Italy .. Douglas of Bristol in the UK made licensed vespas in the 60s etc . Does that mean there not vespas? They didnt make a Lambretta in italy after 1972 but they were still produced all over the world after that and do you think the owners dont own a .. Lambretta! .. ps brown seats are very handy when being overtaken by a truck in the rain!

Your are talking rubbish mate most or all those items you've shown and mentioned are called aftermarket accessories some are not. They have been making and selling those plus more for over sixty years do your research, it will embarrass you when you have the proof. You are talking rubbish you don't have a clue. That friend that's advises you doesn't have clue either.

I have been riding vespas and Lambretta since 86. I have/had 6. Since I was 16. I get it. But dude, don't be a gatekeeper. Your just parroting. Most vintage bikes are refurbished. Yes? Yes. Never assume. You end up making an ass put of you and me. Vespa are about as complicated as a lawnmower. Tell me when I am lying. They are not difficult to work on as far as motors. Most scooter mechanics , with your attitude are failed car mechanics and are a bit prideful. There typically self taught or apprenticed under the supervision of someone who was self-taught who never went to school for motorcycles. Every motor cycle mechanic knows this. There lazy and don't want to take on a challenge and overcharge. They don't want a challenge. We both know that. That is one reason why they are typically broke. I have dealt with Scooterville , Go fast Scooters * run by Bruce and Eric fro. P.O.W club , South Bay scooters, Scooter West etc...God bless p.s I still ride. I have a 2020 Royal Alloy as well as a Vespa 150cc 1956 .
