What the ultra smurf didn't know at the time was everyone of those men would not just stand by him no matter what they faced but would give their lives to save his or anyone else not a Krieger. They do value human life just not their own as they believe they need to atone for what happen to their world but will fight tooth and nail for other IG regiments and civilians to escape to safety.
@InVinoVeratas if the Lamenters survive long enough to meet Krieg, it will be a battlefield of insane proportions. Lamenters reinforce and protect Kriegsmen as Kriegsmen lay down their lives to protect Lamenters like living sandbags. By the throne, blessed be the commissar appointed to thee.
Not 100% true, they see other regiments as cowards and less than them because they dont have the same loyalty as they have. In the Book Dead men walking this becomes even more clear when they draft the populace/PDF to fight for them as a meatshield. they would lay down their lives for a space marine, but not for a fellow man. why spend more lives trying to save 1

Let me just say the death korp of krieg would be a nightmare of took a group to team up with the salamanders. They're constantly trying to die while killing the enemy while at the same time the salamanders would constantly be trying to save them
That already happened man the kriegsmen began shelling a hivecity whilst the salamanders were evacuating civilians naturally the salamanders were pissed at the blatant disregard for life and of course the shelling of their battle brothers if I remember correctly the forgemaster for the salamanders demanded an audience with the kriegsmen general and tore him a new one it was the first and only time a kriegsmen was scared and of course command for the battle and sieges were given over to the salamanders for the remainder of the campaign
I always find it funny how the Death Korps of Krieg seem to unnerve everyone around them man and xeno alike. As someone pointed out. Imagine if the Death Korps were turned into the ultimate Primaris army. You'd have tens of millions of super soldiers giving even the Necrons some serious trouble.
Space Marines are costly, precious, and hard to make, the lost of a single battle brother is a tragedy, the lost of ten a disaster to be taught for years, the lost of 100 a crippling blow to any chapter. The kriegs on the other hand know and accept their own expendability, not only that, they take pride in diying for the Emperor, because only in death you can find attornment for the past sins of KRIEG.
If there’s anything that I would want to see cross from another universe into 40k it would be from halo, give kriegers the spartan 3 gamma augmentations and sit back grinning as they go feral
The Krieg mindset is simultaneously its greatest asset and its own ultimate liability; with enough regiments, the Imperium would reclaim the stars, but doing so would render those same regiments redundant, because there would be no more worlds to conquer, no more enemies left to grind into dust. No more lines of gas-mask clad guardsmen needed to lay down their last drop of blood, their loyalty to Him on Earth at last proven beyond question. For the Emperor!
well yes and no. one the chaos gods will always send their forces out of the warp to fight so you would build a massive thing outside the eye of terror and other permanent warp storms and have the death korps defend it. like cadia but bigger and more like a giant battle station and less like a planet. the death star on massive amounts of steroids. two you can constantly send the death korps into the warp to fight endlessly. it wont matter if they win or lose because you are just giving them something to do and keeping a fighting force always ready for anything. they wont get dull from peace or need to disband as there will be no peace for them.
@@s0hlless Not necessarily; the Chaos gods require worshippers to maintain their power... remove the Traitor Legions, and you only have the renegades, lost and the damned to fill their ranks, it's why the Horus Heresy was a thing in the first place: If the Eye of Terror simply opened up and spewed forth daemons it would have totally united the Legions and Primarchs against a clear enemy and would have exhausted the Warps' soul reserves. Instead, they twisted half the Imperium against the other half and ensured their place in the Cosmos.
Its not exactly a liability to the Imperium. After every single war is over, those regiments will not turn against the Imperium because that would be literally Krieg 2: Electric Boogaloo to them.
"Shells are valuable" proceeds to bombard the hive city of Derondii for 10 years straight when capitulation was at 5th year yet still continued for 3 years and all sign of life have ceased but the bombardment still goes on for another 2 years.

The high lords of Terra probably have imagined it. Then they thought of a space marine chapter made of cold blooded fanatics so extreme that they creep out space marines and then said "oh hell no!"
(breathing in and out) We inherited the sins of our ancestors in the past and this was given to us when we were born and only when we die will we be freed from our sins and forgiven. On that day, we will be lying on the battlefield with our grandfathers, grandmothers, mothers, fathers, brothers, sons, daughters and grandchildren, but I will shed as much xeno and infidel blood as I have been given before me and when I take my last breath, I will die for the sake of humanity and with the knowledge that the emperor has forgiven one more of us. (I did not take it from any book or other source, I wrote it completely myself)
I think thats because they were CHOSEN to be there to send a clear message to whoever intend to defy the Imperium...while here the kriegers are just small part of a bigger operation with other units. Oftenly Kriegers are known for being neglected whenever they were sent to work with other units due to their unsettling mindset
A space marine sitting in a leather chair. Like why? Why would a space marine ever sit? And in armor? and in a cushioned chair? Space Marine art so often makes space marines appear weak. I saw some animation where an average looking orc boy ripped the arm off a space marine in armor, pretty casually. Like, what? Why wear armor at all then. Games Workshop isn't protecting their IP correctly.

They're not men... Just munitions.
I often think Lamenters and Kriegers would find their self-sacrificing ways to be admirable in each other, if a Lamenter ever met a Krieger.

Good artillery shells are extremely valuable in a war especially when Krieg lives are cheaper.
