- It's one of the biggest challenges the LGBTQI community faces and we understand how difficult it is to gather the courage to reveal yourself to even a single friend, parent, or family member. Coming out is no small feat, but the weight that lifts off your shoulders is unreal and worth fighting for.
We both believe that there is no right or wrong way of coming out, and we understand every community, family, or religion has its own boundaries and perspectives. Coming out takes time. It takes self- awareness, courage, and a great deal of self-love. Don't be afraid to talk This is our story of coming out.

As much as i don't want to agree but what you said is true most families are kinda hostile due to various reasons, so financial stability is a must.

Im Haitian, my hubby is Indian. We’ve been together 14 years. We had to go through so many hurdles before our relationship was accepted by his family. His mom declared she wouldn’t attend our wedding two days before the wedding. I was in tears. She did attend but,...*sigh*

This was so heart warming. I'm a Black Queer Nonbinary Muslim from New York City. I have come out to three people in my family and they have been very supportive, but the rest of my family (who are very homophobic) I am waiting until I am financially and mentally stable to let them in on my life and identity. I am a girl, I talked to my mother about liking my best friend,who is also a girl...I have been with guys before,it was fine with me,but she was not the same, Something clicked within us,it was mutual...
Aaannnd....My mother,after hearing everything,calmly asked me to not say that ever again...As if what I just said was totally unnecessary and unimportant... "Coming out" is not an option for me, especially where my family doesn't even hear me out...
I didn't suffer from this, but i have a suggestion, you should be finnancially independent and then you can do whatever you want to.

I came out when I was 22 and i was studying medicine my dad kicked me out frm home till now he is not talking to me. he said that me unke drishti me mar gaya hu and now it's been 7 years me ghar se door hu
I was disinherited by my father, and it seems my mother will disinherit me as well.
Somehow that has forced me to be a strong personality.
I try to think of such matters as blessings in disguise.

I am so happy for the couple. I wish my soon to be ex husband had the guts to come out. He is home sexual. ours was an arranged marriage, for over an year I struggled not understanding why i was not able to connect to him and why he was avoiding me as if fire of hell was after him. Only after lots of fighting did he come out that he is actually a home sexual. I have applied for a divorce immediately its still processing. But i wish he would have treated me as a friend and explained to me his situation, I would have supported him. We would have gone out of India if its needed. I would have sorted out it with his parents.

Here's my recent story,
I've been working on my boys love book in which one protagonist has to confront his parents about liking a guy or him being a gay in general. So to get that feeling like how his parents gonna react I lied to my mother that I liked girls; I could literally hear the shattering of her heart and sheer disappointment in her face, right after I told her. So within next second I told her that I'm joking and she said that she knew her children wouldn't do something shameful like this. I asked her again what if I were to be lesbian girl and she straight up told me that she would have abandoned me. My mouth was agape like....seriously. then she said that society and her sacraments don't allow these sinful and unnatural people.
I'm still freaking pissed.

My favorite couple... I'm so inspired by you guys... My parents didn't really respond the way I would have liked. I didn't tell them in person however I wrote them a letter. I felt it was a coward move. Then I realized I don't owe them anything but the love the creator has given to all mankind. I was so hurt when my mother told me I needed to abandon this lifestyle nevertheless I love you. She gave me mixed signals. I feel the uncomfortable vibe when I'm in her presence.

Hi guys, it's so heartening to hear your coming out stories. As I said earlier, I have just finished writing my novel about a group of musicians/ music lovers in the sixties and seventies. One gay couple in Europe and their coming out and an Indian gay couple whose growing up and innocent, transparent is looked on kindly by both families. Their coming out is finally a decision taken by their music guru, the elder gay and their parents. In fact, the families recognise the angst of the couple and decide to take the first step.
When I sent my file to a few intimate friends, they were all disappointed and thought it was unrealistic, for tose days. They expected a lot of drama......and all this, even before they have read through the novel.
It makes me wonder whether I should give my novel a silent burial

I think with a culture of strict boundaries when it comes to communications between different generations esp in India, we always underestimate or overestimate our parent's reaction about the bigger things in our lives. Just yesterday I had the most honest conversation with my father about my depression and my career and I was so overwhelmed with how supportive he was. Just, grateful and feeling blessed.
