We wanted to adopt but the process was lengthy and it was so expensive; about $30k to $60k depending on the country. I was super open to having a surrogate but my husband did not feel it was right to "exploit" a woman. After our own pregnancy journey and the many health scares, we decided that if ever we were to have another child, we would definitely adopt. My aunt has adopted two children, who are siblings, through the church. They were 1 and 3 years old. I think what I have learned from their adoption process is the need to really getting to know the family's background and health history. The biological parents were users of drugs and alcohol. The mother denies using alcohol or drugs during her pregnancy but if you're familiar with fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), you can see the physical defects and see the other issues relating to FAS. Early recognition would be beneficial in ensuring that the child gets all the help they need (e.g. speech therapy, behavioral therapy, etc.). As far as diapers (LOL), if you're starting at the newborn stage you're looking at 10-12 wet/soiled diapers a day. As the baby gets older, they may go days without having a bowel movement. What about feeding the baby? Breastmilk through donors? Or formula? If you're looking for breastmilk, you can find mothers who donate through Human Milk 4 Human Babies on FB (just add your state while searching). I'm a breastmilk donor and I'm so glad I'm able to produce enough to feed another baby. I wish you two love birds the best!! You two will make fantastic parents!!

Guys, I had a baby boy roughly an year back through surrogacy; my parents have helped immensely and are continuing to do so. I have moved back to India from UK just because of my boy and my parents. I hadn't shifted to India till earlier this year as I went back to UK last year in Jan when Neil (my boy) was a month and half old, to sell my house and wind up things in UK, then Corona happened and lockdowns followed. To cut the long story short, the house didn't sell and finally the house was put on rent, however the beurocarcy and paperwork moved really slowly and though I was supposed to come back in Aug 2020, I have been able to return to India only on 20th Jan this year. Thereafter, it was 7 days mandatory quarantine at a hotel in Delhi, and it was only on Jan 27th when I was with my child, finally. He is a joy to be around as he is such a naughty and active kid. Parenthood does something deep inside you so I would advise that as soon as you work out the hows, just go for it. God bless and good luck to both of you. x

Some of the information may be outdated because it is from a while back. But it was so empowering to read and understand their entire journey. Highly recommend checking it out!
i would say adopt because like you said so many kids need families and children get split up and a lot of children are not accepted being gay so they are in foster care because maybe the parents don't want them. I think the biggest reason tho is i think it is weird when the parents don't even know each other and when the kids goes "how was i made" then you go that their bio mom is not their mom and just carried them, but if you adopt a child i think it will be easier for them to accept and comprehend it because they know their parents or something but honestly it doesn't matter whatever you chose you will be great parents & both ways are great ways. :) good luck!

I too have the same thought of surrogacy- this is lengthy risky expensive and also it might get failure after some months- we cannot handle this things dr, also adoption will give life and future for the baby who is already present in the world.

I don't think it's a good practice to separate a child from a mother just for convenience. There are millions of kids waiting to be adopted. Biological child or adopted child doesn't make any difference. Surrogacy is also banned in some countries

My husband & I have through this. Our adopted son is now in his mid-20s. I suspect surrogacy is likely a faster route. Adoption, while enormously moral, is a long process here in USA. Is adopting in India an option? Siblings? A cousin, living in Israel, I believe adopted from India (I think)...the adoption process, is driven ‘locally’ - you guys are in NJ (I think) so reaching out to your local social services/adoption program is best. They will guide you, do home study, training programs.

My husband & I have through this. Our adopted son is now in his mid-20s. I suspect surrogacy is likely a faster route. Adoption, while enormously moral, is a long process here in USA. Is adopting in India an option? Siblings? A cousin, living in Israel, I believe adopted from India (I think)...the adoption process, is driven ‘locally’ - you guys are in NJ (I think) so reaching out to your local social services/adoption program is best. They will guide you, do home study, training programs.
Well, yeah, having a baby vs having a cute Adam are completely two different parenting. Adam doesn’t have to go to school, though formal education is one of the most important part of a baby’s life. 😁❤️
