I was just out on a shoot, and using the Mat Box saved my footage, we were going inside and outside a lot, in full sun and then dark rooms. it was so nice to be able to just pull the ND filter out of the mat box inside and then throw it back in when we went out. Of course there is something to be said about the look factor too, our clients were very impressed with the look of our gear, so you know thats nice too 😂

Super helpful, thanks Kofi :) Could you add a screw on filter to the lens, then add the matte box? So you could have a pro mist on the lens, then the 2 NDs in the mattebox

What matte box are you rocking or could you recommended?
Do you have any recommendations for small matte boxes like these which have a tilt function? I'm looking for a compact option that prevents ghosting effects due to bright lights that reflect back to the filters from the sensor. Ideally I have an option that both accommodates a VND and a Black Mist filter.
Love that the color isn't shifting too much on these. Nisi knocked this one out the park

I have a cheep K&F nd filter. it has a green colour cast and also softens the overall footage, and I kinda like it because it gives me a yellow-ish highlights and a soft-ish look. but I do feel like I need to have good high quality ND filters now a days.
95mm cinema lens is exactly the size we need for our xeen cf set. Wish this was out before we got into polar pro!

I've been using the Freewells for years now and am glad to see they hold up in the comparisons! The Nisi filters look great for their cost though - it was awesome seeing them all side by side with the FX6 too. Great vid as always, Kofi!

Sounds like a silly question but would be a good ND filter Mattebox solely for black and white filmography please ?

The Nisi C5 is really good. I've had it for a few months. I always have it on my FX3. I swapped out the Tilta Mirage system with the Nisi C5 because of the color shifting issues (even after white balancing)- which really becomes a problem when shooting with multi cams and collaborating with other filmmakers. Having that extra ND filter to go to 9 stops is really nice, plus mine came with the 1/8 pro mist which compliments my main Sony 24-70 GM2 lens.
@@willvazquez3218 wow.. that’s not been my experience at all. Maybe you had a bad VND unit? I’m editing a piece right now I shot a few weeks back and the colors are amazing.

How does the locking screw fit for the side mount filter? Some reviewers mentioned that the filter might fall out because of the screw not engaging fully.
It’s pretty good on there as long as you’re not crazy with it, I asked Nisi about it and for the most part, don’t make a habit of taking the filter out without unscrewing it
Can you motorize it? Like Tilta Mirage.
Also I will never understand why would people use diffusion filters and ruin their footage in camera while tools like Dehancer or FilmBox exist and can replicate the same effect with precision in post. It's easy and you can always dial it back if it's too much for a particular shot.
You can, it’s sold separately and on 15mm rods
And filtration is subjective, some of the best shows and films you’ve seen have used some sort of filter on it, I wouldn’t say it’s a universally bad thing for footage, somethings it looks good on, some it doesn’t but what looks good to you isn’t everyone’s tastes!
Any idea how this compares to SmallRig's Star-Trail matte box & VND? It's a fraction of the price.
If I’d wager a guess, I’m guessing you’ll have to deal with Color cast , and no 4x5 must filter
