I am very pleased you made this video as just by chance I uploaded a video on Red Earth on the exact same day - causing people who watched this video to search Red Earth then watch my video. So thank you for that haha!
It was a fun game! There is also another similar arcade game, called Metamoqester, fans of the "boss rush fighting game" genre should check it out too!
You get to suplex the Brain from Life Force? That's fuckin amazing. 90's Konami did some of the coolest shit with their properties. Also, the music is redone boss fight music from Life Force. It was tough to hear in the video.
Man i wish companies would HD release these on modern systems like Capcom did with there Beat em ups and D&D Chronicles of Mystaria collections. These need to be accessible to more people to experience. Another awesome video Drunk.
You know, I've been waiting for a tower of doom and shadows over mystara forever.... I'm going to build my own arcade machine this year and use an emulator...... D&D on the switch!!!!!!
Shadows over mystara was available on ps3 and Wii U but konami removed them along with the Simpsons and x-men arcade games. Probably because of licensing issues.
I LOOOOOVE this kinda series of forgotten games you've been doing! It's been infinitely interesting! Keep up the excellent work and amazing content! :-) Another kind of topic that's similar and would be unique and insanely interesting would be LOST GAMES... You've highlighted that emulation is the only way most of these arcade games still exist, and I think it'd be an interesting topic to talk about... Games that are COMPLETELY LOST and being searched for. Also, forbidden games/banned games is an interesting topic... But unlike lost games, this topic has been covered quite a bit... I've been watching your content for YEARS now, and I think you're more than qualified to take on such a fascinating and wholely interesting topic! Keep it up buddy! :-)
One would be Banned Memories, the horror game homage to Silent Hill 1. I don't know the story of why it was never finished, I would guess Konami sent a water ghost after the creator.
to be fair, I'm not surprised they do. Konami isn't a company typically associated with fighting games, and for good reason. they have a rather spotty hit or miss record with the genre. for a Monster Maulers, there's a Martial Masters. for a hidden gem like the SNES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters game, there's also the average NES game and the bad SGMD, not ports, but separate games of declining quality by comparison. also, they'd make a pachinko game from Castlevania, but not this?
I don’t know why I love watching videos about arcade games I’ve never heard of and will probably never play, but I do. These arcade reviews are going to convince me to finally get a SNES Drunk shirt.
It's crazy that Top Hat Gaming Man released an in-depth retrospective on Red Earth today! These are the 2 channels I make sure to catch their new vids on each Thursday!
when I first looked at this, I immediately thought of Red Earth I'm glad you gave that a shout out I loved Red Earth, so now I have to give this a try as well
I really like that you're bringing some of these forgotten games to light. I love your SNES reviews, but with your style, I like that you've branched out to other retro titles. Keep it up! 👍 OH! Can you also do Knuckle Heads by Namco? If not, that's cool, lol.
I'm sorry bro... Did I just see freaking Blanka with horns, Johnny Bravo with a Hamburgler visor on pulling Zangeif suplexes, and a build palate of Chun Li dude doing Bison Psycho Crushes!?? 😮😂 Awesome!! And that brings back memories... after I got done with my bowl of Cap'n Crunch, I ALWAYS went out and pile drove missiles in the ground before school.
Cool stuff, I never heard about this game before. I always dreamed about a co-op fighting game back in the day so I can't belive I have missed this one out
I knew about Red Earth/Warzard more than a decade ago, but unfortunately never heard about this game until now. Looks really awesome, I'll definitely try!
For two players combination move You two must be close to each other, and when facing the enemy Kotetsu + any (Double Soutenhou) : both must perform qcf + attack / qcb + attack Anne + any (Double Sparking) : both must mash attack buttons repeatedly Eagle + any (Double Hurricane) : both must hold left for 2 secs, then right + attack / hold right for 2 secs, then left + attack
What's really interesting about this game is the sheer level of references that either don't translate or barely translate to Western audiences. So much so, it's sometimes hard to see the difference between homage and straight up ripoff. The villains are clearly supposed to be the Doronbo Gang villains from all the Time Bokan shows, right down to their theme music. The tokusatsu references are fairly obvious, including that battle music that actually has lyrics. Most obvious is that a certain someone in the game bares a pretty damn close resemblance to Goku.
Warzard/Red Earth never received a port either. A game that never left Japan neither was ported is Fighting Layers, made by Arika, the same guys that did Street Fighter EX. That games shares two characters with SFEX but the rest of the roster is new, and it has really bizarre characters and some bizarre fights, like fighting a shark, the las boss is a vampire so go figure. Also has branching paths depending how do you do in early fights and you get different sub bosses depending on the path. That is truly a game to play however you can. There is a somewhat recent game called Fighting EX Layer made by Arika too, but that game it's pretty much an assemble of the original characters from SFEX 1&2 (i.e. no Capcom characters, only Arika's) but it is pretty bland and has none of the craziness of the original Fighting Layer.
You release this today, top hat gaming man releases one on red earth today... almost like an insidious plan to convince me to play 2 similarly awesome games
Yeah. Capcom at least still kind of cares about making games now compared to a few years ago. Konami......doesn't even seem to care about making console/handheld games anymore. At least they still make arcade games which is something, though mainly for Japan?
Bought this pcb about 6 years ago and was really pleased to add it to my collection however unfortunately it was faulty so had to return it. Not one that comes up too often so still waiting on a working pcb to this day 🤞
You should try JJ squawkers it'd a short sweet but very trippy run and gun. I mean it's really triiippppy to keep up the obscure arcade games ! It's like the developers smoked a lot of dmt and made an arcade game. First level starts out normal then it gets weeeeird. It's not a great run and gun but the psychedelic nature of it makes it a worthwhile experience. Love your obscure arcade games recommendations
Rumor is that -if you say “play it any way you can” three times -SNES Drunk will appear to judge you in three minutes or less. Although his delivery will drip with snark, he’ll be quite fair in his assessment.
To get the alternate ending, you must 1CC the game. Then, instead of watching the normal good ending, you watch the heroes get their butts kicked by the various bosses.
It would be nice if Konami released a collection of all of his games that never came out of the arcades, such as this one, Metamorphic Force, G.I. Joe: The Arcade Game, Aliens and Violent Storm. Just to name a few.
The Japanese version, Kyukyoku Sentai Dadandarn, has a sentai style theme song with lyrics that plays during the fights. That makes it the better version for my money... er, "money." It feels way hokier in a fun way.
I really hope that someday Konami alongside with Hamster make a rerelease of this game as a part of the Arcade Archives Series for the Switch and rest of consoles, like they did with some other titles.
I am very pleased you made this video as just by chance I uploaded a video on Red Earth on the exact same day - causing people who watched this video to search Red Earth then watch my video. So thank you for that haha!

I did say it with you.
It was fun.

Is that the SNES drunk slogan now?
"He's like the '90s version of Brock Lesnar"
So he's like Goldberg then? :D
Goldberg actually had charisma
Or Peter Molyneux...
Why r u in everyone's comments
Hello u
Brock Lesnar was an amateur wrestler. Goldberg wasn't. They're styles are different. Overall, they're not really that similar.
Man, this is definitely a game I never heard of, and looks pretty awesome to boot. Thanks for the review!

It was a fun game! There is also another similar arcade game, called Metamoqester, fans of the "boss rush fighting game" genre should check it out too!
I agree! Metamoqester is a pretty awesome, and beautiful, game! Freakin' BRUTALLY HARD though...
Dang, beat me to it.

As always a great rewarding and interesting review from SnesDrunk. Great game, great narrative, great script, great opinion, great video. Keep on!
Red Earth is great. Never heard of this one.
