I had a Turtle Beach set of headphones which after 3 months just fell apart right where the screws attach to the cans. I am still using my Z68 MSI motherboard with an i5-3570k, it still keeps up with even the newer AAA games. I started with a GTX 660 2gb and switched to a GTX 770 4gb for a better performance boost. I just turn it down to normal during the summer and then overclock to 4.2 during the winter. My last Asrock motherboard lasted me about 10 years with buying a capacitor kit and replacing 3 bulged ones. Keep up the great vids and enjoy.
Cheers for the idea. My old x58 EVGA Classified is still going strong and didn't want to get rid of it. I'll grab one of those Xeons and upgrade it for my youngest. Looked at the higher end i7's but none of them offered good enough performance for the price.
A big yes! Not a hardcore and overclocker here. Mine is Gigabyte x58a ud5 paired with i7 980x Extreme. I just recently upgraded its GPU from GTS 450 to GTX 1060 and its main drive to Western Digital SSD 500Gb. It's running Windows 10 Pro without any drivers issue. And now she performs sexier than ever!
All of these parts remind me of when I first started building my first PC. Not too long ago since I am fairly young, but it was good to see all of these awesome Intel chipsets again!
@ 6:26 Brilliant. I had a pair of Galaxy GTX-680's 4Gb in SLI on my X58 moving into then new X79. The pair of 480's I replaced was a mini heater, was bleedin boiling. lol

Can't wait for these builds and your threadripper review, being my favourite tech tuber and all. Still rocking dual X5680s but nstill curious to see threadripper performance.
I still have My Asus P8Z68-v LE motherboard with an I5 2400, 1600 Ballistic Ram.. I just upgraded to Ryzen 1700/3.9, Tiachi, And God what a difference I'm loving Life.. But I'm planning to thro a Hard drive and GPU back in my old Intel set up and get it back up and Running.. It's going to take some Time because I work for a cable company, and we get paid next to nothing and every time I want to buy something of value I have to save.. It was the same with my New Ryzen system.. I started saving 6 months before it even came out.. Anyway love what your doing with the used stuff and showing people what they can get on the cheap...
I get stuff like this every single day free at my local dump. Not to mention my friend who is an electronics recycler. He gives me boatloads of awesome stuff.
yeah. I would say rage was the cause of death to those headphones. Ether he grabs them off his head and throws them across the room or twist them up in a fit of rage. Just my thoughts on the matter lol.
glad your back safe brian.. cant wait to see all those awesome parts come together!!! awesome deals in Japan, almost worth the airfair from u.s. to get amazing deals!!! well i be watching and waiting for all the new content!!! GREAT CHANNEL THANX!! say hello to dad man for us!!!

Still using an i7 950 on my Gigabyte X58A-UD3R rev 2. Thank you for the heads up about the Xeons, for some reason it didn't come to my mind to use them, and now I've gotten one because way cheaper upgrade.
first six minutes of the video shows how much this man knows about "irrelevant" motherboard and cpu architecture. id never be able to even know to look that stuff up , props to brian!

daw. i liked the power button gag.... back in the old days you used multible different items in one video like "deal with it" ........the suit days were so funny XD
Haha did you get any weird questions at the border with all that? x58 is definitely still relevant :) I'm running it now with an x5650, but looking to upgrade to threadripper!
STOP with this X58 mobos... i wanna cry bad... I cannot find any lower than 150€ in Italy, and I want a X5670 so bad! I see also that as mee you like x58 a lot... could you please consider of doing a video reviewing one of those X58 chinese mobos avaiable on Aliexpress/Alibaba. There are also some x79 mobos that seems to have some overclocking features enabled. (I saw some russian review but... i cannot speak russian...) Anyway it could be a great value for us if you could be able to get one and review them. Maybe also, given that your channel has so many views, you could get one for free/testing. Hope you will take this in consideration. Best regards, Dan.
Tu come ti sei trovato? Che RAM consigli? Ah, e che dissipatore usi? Io adesso ho quello stock del 930 ma mi fa 50-60 gradi idle sul desktop e appena inizi a usarlo va subito a 85-90, che non è proprio ideale.
What the heck... I've been trying to get a cheap X58 mobo for like a year. Online I can only find them at about 125-150. Good on you for getting a heap of them at 70 a pop.
Slapped 3x8GB Ripjaws along with my old 3x4GB Ripjaws set....36GB running smooth as fuck.Upgrading from i7 960 to an X5660 next. X58's are dope, i'm not selling mine once i get a new build together.
I enjoyed the spawn movie for my part. But I did like spawn in general back in the day. The spawn animated series that was done for HBO was also pretty excellent..
My first proper gaming PC was built with a Core i5-750 and a GTX 670 on a Gigabyte P55 motherboard with 4 gigs of RAM. Great little combo back in 2012, and probably more than capable of playing games today if you don't mind reducing some settings and overclocking the i5 up from the 2.66 GHz base speed (and those i5's did indeed overclock really well). The i5 is now in my dad's PC, and the GTX 670 finds some use in a slightly more modern i7-3770 rig. Nice pickups with those X58 boards though, funny to think we've had good Intel six-core processors for nearly 10 years and yet it took us until now for AMD to give us some good eight-core chips because Intel wouldn't dare mess with their carefully made market segmentation strategy... Also, it's pronounced more like "shao-me" ;)
Nice, I also got myself an MSI X58 Pro-E bundle for 124€~$138 and sold the 950 on there for 20€-2.65€ fees and ordered an X5660 for 23.20€~$25.90. So I got myself the mobo, CPU and included 6x 4 GB DDR3 1333 MHz for 129.85€~$145 which is good value if you ask me. Would have gotten it even cheaper if the exchange rates would be better at AliExpress. Also sold the X5650 I ordered alongside for a few Euros more than I paid for it. The important thing is to keep the mobos alive, CPUs are plenty available and very cheap, so no problem if one dies.
Yea i bougth my setup at my mom a while back from 125 euro. It included the following: i7 950 Asus rampage iii extreme 3x 2gb 1600mhz all the parts for watercooling (wich i put into my home build.) And i run all of that with a gtx 970 all fine! x58 is still a great platform!
That is also decent since the Rampage III Extreme is usually way over 100€ all by itself and also it can unlock two more multis which makes it a great pair with X5650/60, since those are like 2/3 the price of the X5670 and all above are only worth if the board does not support overclocking or multi unlocking since 200x23 or 209x22 already equals about 4.6 GHz which very little chips exceed comfortably.
Well i paid 25 euro for the x5670 wich on ali express is 35/38 euro so i think thats a good deal. The only thing i don't like about my build here is the case its sitting in a Antec darkfleet 85 (i had a diffrent case for it but the noctua nh-d14 didnt fit in it.
That is of corse an amazing deal, but unnecessary for all boards with multi unlock feature because even at 200 a 22+2 multi would equal 4.8 GHz which most chips don't achieve under 1.6V unless you're lucky.
Am prob gonna be happy with a 4ghz overclock, the 5670 had a 1 day shipping time and if i would buy another chip at ali express i would have had to wait for almost a month for the same money
Fsp power supplies are bulletproof af, my rig is supposedly taking like 600W, and I have a 400W fsp power supply, my cpu is oc, and it's been running fine for like 4 months. And it has been running like a year on my past cpu and mobo combo which supposedly took like 500+W So I guess the 400W marking is an understatement.
Love x58, still gaming on one with an overclocked xeon w3690, wish I could score some more x58 mobos for cheap do I can put together a few more x58 rigs!
I just picked up a H67 Zotac mini ITX board from ebay with intecreated WIFI. The guy wanted a box of bear or 17€. I payed the 17€ and damn its working and it's in almost new condition.
Big plus in my book for the xeon processors... Well let's just say that Intel didn't make any backdoors to their enterprise level hardware and compromise their whole lineup of products, in the form of a second bios on the i3-5-7 chips with a remote boot in.
I have the ASUS P6T SE with the i7 990x running at 5.0 Ghz. Officially this board supports up to a max of 24GB of RAM. But this motherboard actually can even support 48GB of RAM.
Still rocking my EVGA Sli 3 motherboard with an X5670 at 4ghz and 24gb of DDR3 1600mhz patriot ram. It still works great even with a GTX1080. It's an all black motherboard, ram and graphics card. No rgb for me! Been playing Destiny 2 at 85 - 115 fps. I could probably get another 20 - 30 fps with an 8700k though.
Awesome! I love x58 motherboards. My friend almost got a really good deal at his local FreeGeek for one, but he didn't have the money for it so someone took it before him. Rip
Yes man, can you make a video, x5660 at 4.4ghz, uncore 3.8ghz, paired with high speed ram, against ryzen r5 1600 and Intel i7 7700k? It would be a blast!
I love your Channel I love to see all that kind of hardware motherboards CPUs and new GPU on the graphic card I used to build my own computers I'm getting rusty but washing your Channel I'm I am getting into it thank you
Am about to replace my old i7 950 with a x5670 for 25$ :) What i will have then is (and it still runs fine with most games.) x5670 Asus rampage iii extreme 12gb @ 1600mhz Gtx 970
Hi Brian, I was in Melbourne for one day in January, but I was with my cuz and her relatives overnight before a holiday with family who live in N.Z. I would have loved to have met up with you, but such is life. I'm a Scot who lives in Manchester, England. After watching your shows for quite a while, I invested in a second-hand rig. Asrock Extreme 3 X58 mobo. 12 Gb a data ddr3 ram 750 watt A Data PSU SSD boot drive 2 HDD Bios Version 2.8 A decent graphics for casual gaming. In the last few days, it started playing up, win 10 updates, BSOD, occasional crash blah blah. I took it apart and gave it some of Jimmy's TLC, AND HEY PRESTO, ITS NOW F%$&*!. The SATA ports (3.0 Gb), no longer show my hard drives, the SATA 3 ports. (6Gb) are fine, I have them running my SSD boot drive, and optical drive. Don't worry, I didn't wash it! just a hoover out, stripped down the PSU to get the crap out. A wipe down with alcohol. Any hints, ideas? Do you have a decent X58 I can buy? Its very difficult to source them in the UK, apart from some dodgy-looking things from Korea, or China, for which I have no idea of their pedigree. I seem to remember that you did a show recommending an X58 offering from our old pals at Ali Express. Any comment from you would be great, as I am stumped at present. p.s. Running a Zeon 5680 on this. Cheers, Jimmy . . . .Buyee :-)
(Edit: yeah the voltage is standard at 100v Japan still uses both 50hz and 60hz mains electric systems with 50hz(originally European sourced) in the North and 60hz(us sourced originally) in the south divided at Tokyo ) Can forget that Japan uses 240v power in the north and 120v in the South, right after WWII the us developed a military bases in Okinawa And they helped create the infrastructure in the southern half of Japan, while in the north the UK suppled most of the parts hence the 240v, fun fact the two power types are actually connected so if a few plants go down they can pull power from the other side
Tech YES City but anyhow did you give him a normal power supply? Anything that isn't oem made for a specific market should either have a 120/240 selector and most own supply's have auto voltage detection
Tech YES City sorry that's slight miss information, i believe it use to be a 100v(120v)/240v split shortly after WWII but at some point they adopted 100v standard across-the-board, but they kept the 50hz/60hz frequency used by the two systems
At 10:05 I dont see any PSU cables. 10:05:050 maybe, being like halfway through the 5, but you can only do 10:05 or 10:06 but just pausing the video and clicking the 10:05 hyperlink will not show PSU cables.
leave it to your siblings to use your things only to break them in the end. i lock my stuff up and if they ask i stuff a bar of snickers in my mouth and with a muffled response i say, "i gotta go to work, not right now" *exit* lol
About the power issue thing your friend had in Japan... I'm actually surprised at how picky some computers can be just with cables. When I got my newest PC I tried to plug in my old power cable to the PSU but it wouldn't even boot. It would start the fans and lights, but never try to boot. I changed the cable, and bam - worked. I can't figure out what the difference is, they have the same ratings.
Call the fire department before you use that PSU!!!!! Who needs x58 now, almost 7700k in cenebench, but under the level of any game, Arcade simulator? Its as old as my Striker II build! That's the only old RIG i still own and keep.
Sky Walker Old i7 CPU's are the best, X99 and Kaby! Keep using that old GTX 1080 too! If you bought your PC last summer, you paid less, and got better shit then now
You see that son, they don't make those anymore.... that's why it's a Legendary Board. And i'm happy to still be running it with a Core i7 920 @ 3.6ghz :D
Super jealous of those x58 boards. I've been looking for one to overclock my x5670 for ages and I can't find one for less than like $200. Not paying that much for a used 9 year old board.
@TechYESCity My Dad let me watch Spawn for my 13th Birthday. Gave me nightmares for a year. lmao but it was a great movie that I watched many times over.
Hey bryan, when you go through customs do you go through 'nothing to declare' or the declarations section? I'm thining of taking a load of used parts back from Serbia and I'm not sure if I need to declare them or not.
HydraHead9 I don't know which country you are returning to; but, as a general rule, the airline you are flying on will give you a form that tells you what you have to declare and to fill out if you do have to declare.
I pick up the off brand x58 motherboard from China it will to post with the RX Vega 64 install. It work with R7 260x and old ATI 4850 graphics card. I try booting up the computer with 1000w PSU and 750w PSU. The RX Vega 64 works in my other system which is AMD FX 8370 with Asus crosshair V formula Z motherboard.
Back when I had my x58 board and did some research on it I found some people were able to get more than 24GB recognized on board by the Xeons. It'd be really interesting if those boards supported (at least ran) the cheap ECC DDR3 from ebay. If you had some lying around it'd be interesting to see a build with that and a 1080ti comparing to modern builds.
thes vlogs are my favorite. Takes me back to your original Japan vids years ago.
same here
My first build in 2010 had the P6X58D-E mobo, absolute beast of a board and only upgraded this year.
I loved the Spawn movie at the time, and the nostalgia factor still makes me watch it again every now and then.

TFW 9 year old X5650 is more powerful than your i5-4690K... 1024 cb vs 572 cb...
TheBcoolGuy
Your iPhone runs it better then that old board.
4690k only gets 570 cb for real ? because my 3350p gets 430 i believe it was
My 771 server that I picked up for $20 does 631 cb...
Aaron Henderson bruh and my ryzen 5 1600 only has 1280 CB wtf!

why x58 motherboards? simple, x5600 series xeons are the shit!!!
infact i have an asus p6x58d-e too and it overclocks like a champ!
jordan lewis NONE of the newer Xeons overclock like these x58 Xeons can!!!

"it's a very pacific case, it flew all the way over the specific ocean" AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ly brian you are my favourite youtuber :)
pacific case that flys thru the specific oceans are the best cases IMO
It's a very pacific case that flew all the way over the specific ocean
Slapped 3x8GB Ripjaws along with my old 3x4GB Ripjaws set....36GB running smooth as fuck.Upgrading from i7 960 to an X5660 next. X58's are dope, i'm not selling mine once i get a new build together.
Sorry about your headphones, Bryan! That sucks!
Manny! How you been man?
Damn all those x58 mainboards…I wish mine was at better shape. I had to jump to ryzen because it's dying…I miss that special flare of the platform.
Was it a sabretooth? I fucking hate those, had 3 so far and every one had a diffrent problem...
No, an asus rampage 3 extreme. It still works, but I wouldn't put it in a system to actually use it.
I enjoyed the spawn movie for my part. But I did like spawn in general back in the day. The spawn animated series that was done for HBO was also pretty excellent..
Thank God that someone can shave without making a section about DOLLAR SHAVE CLUB, their new sponsor.
Well, these FSP and HEC PSUs are actually really good and reliable! Using these myselfs for cheap builds and im really surprised how well they do.
Also, it's pronounced more like "shao-me" ;)
It's funny man, I really wanted to get an x58 board and an x5650, now I see a video from you where you have them.
It included the following:
i7 950
Asus rampage iii extreme
3x 2gb 1600mhz
all the parts for watercooling (wich i put into my home build.)
And i run all of that with a gtx 970 all fine! x58 is still a great platform!
I have the x5650, Even at its default turbo, it games amazingly! Paired with a 1060 6gb.
I'm still running a Intel DX58SO motherboard with a Xeon X5675 @ 4.6GHz and a GTX 1070. Great performance.
Pacific Case, Specific Ocean... Works for me.
Brian please do an overclocking guide on X58 chipset. And do overclock that W3565.
Fsp power supplies are bulletproof af, my rig is supposedly taking like 600W, and I have a 400W fsp power supply, my cpu is oc, and it's been running fine for like 4 months.
And it has been running like a year on my past cpu and mobo combo which supposedly took like 500+W
So I guess the 400W marking is an understatement.
LET THE BUILDS... BEGIN!
SPAWN WAS AMAZING
Love x58, still gaming on one with an overclocked xeon w3690, wish I could score some more x58 mobos for cheap do I can put together a few more x58 rigs!
I just picked up a H67 Zotac mini ITX board from ebay with intecreated WIFI. The guy wanted a box of bear or 17€. I payed the 17€ and damn its working and it's in almost new condition.
+1 for the spawn figure loved it dude!! great soundtrack too
Still using x58 in 2018, it has never let me down, or produced any bottlenecking!
Big plus in my book for the xeon processors... Well let's just say that Intel didn't make any backdoors to their enterprise level hardware and compromise their whole lineup of products, in the form of a second bios on the i3-5-7 chips with a remote boot in.
Damn it! Wish I had bought 2 mobos when I built mine back in 2010!
I have the ASUS P6T SE with the i7 990x running at 5.0 Ghz.
Officially this board supports up to a max of 24GB of RAM.
But this motherboard actually can even support 48GB of RAM.
I saw him and i heard him - Dadman 2017
When it came out, Spawn was probably one of my favorite Marvel movies for a little while.
Rip
All you gotta do is sticky tape the headphones and it will be all good
Yes man, can you make a video, x5660 at 4.4ghz, uncore 3.8ghz, paired with high speed ram, against ryzen r5 1600 and Intel i7 7700k?
It would be a blast!
I love your Channel I love to see all that kind of hardware motherboards CPUs and new GPU on the graphic card I used to build my own computers I'm getting rusty but washing your Channel I'm I am getting into it thank you
I saw him and I heard him - love dad man haha
looking forward to the mi6 & seasonic focus PSU review.
@ 8:04 I haven't seen that film since I was kid.
Am about to replace my old i7 950 with a x5670 for 25$ :)
What i will have then is (and it still runs fine with most games.)
x5670
Asus rampage iii extreme
12gb @ 1600mhz
Gtx 970
That build is nearly perfect, might want to get some more ram though :)
Why would i need more ram? The games i do play on this pc (at my mom) is PUBG and CSGO mostly.
Mobjunk Nighel - Slap an SSD in there if you haven't already, only worthy upgrade I can see
Yea i bougth a ssd for this pc 1,5 months ago the hdd i had it there was on its last life.
I have the exact same CPU
I would buy that z68 mobo / cpu combo. Thats such a steal!
They must be so used to people grabbing tech from Japan in customs,
Spawn was cool, sick soundtrack too
Hi Brian, I was in Melbourne for one day in January, but I was with my cuz and her relatives overnight before a holiday with family who live in N.Z. I would have loved to have met up with you, but such is life.
I'm a Scot who lives in Manchester, England. After watching your shows for quite a while, I invested in a second-hand rig.
Asrock Extreme 3 X58 mobo.
12 Gb a data ddr3 ram
750 watt A Data PSU
SSD boot drive
2 HDD
Bios Version 2.8
A decent graphics for casual gaming.
In the last few days, it started playing up, win 10 updates, BSOD, occasional crash blah blah.
I took it apart and gave it some of Jimmy's TLC, AND HEY PRESTO, ITS NOW F%$&*!.
The SATA ports (3.0 Gb), no longer show my hard drives,
the SATA 3 ports.
Cheers, Jimmy . . . .Buyee :-)
(Edit: yeah the voltage is standard at 100v Japan still uses both 50hz and 60hz mains electric systems with 50hz(originally European sourced) in the North and 60hz(us sourced originally) in the south divided at Tokyo )
Can forget that Japan uses 240v power in the north and 120v in the South, right after WWII the us developed a military bases in Okinawa And they helped create the infrastructure in the southern half of Japan, while in the north the UK suppled most of the parts hence the 240v, fun fact the two power types are actually connected so if a few plants go down they can pull power from the other side
Really? Never knew that! Damn
Tech YES City surprised a local didn't know that?
Tech YES City but anyhow did you give him a normal power supply? Anything that isn't oem made for a specific market should either have a 120/240 selector and most own supply's have auto voltage detection
Tech YES City sorry that's slight miss information, i believe it use to be a 100v(120v)/240v split shortly after WWII but at some point they adopted 100v standard across-the-board, but they kept the 50hz/60hz frequency used by the two systems
Tech YES City the part about the us helping create the southern electric grid and the parts for the north being suppled from the UK is true though
X58 gets so much love
I'm sorry I'm probably crazy but does the huge bundle of PSU cables at 10:05 look like a xenomorph to anyone else?
At 10:05 I dont see any PSU cables. 10:05:050 maybe, being like halfway through the 5, but you can only do 10:05 or 10:06 but just pausing the video and clicking the 10:05 hyperlink will not show PSU cables.
leave it to your siblings to use your things only to break them in the end. i lock my stuff up and if they ask i stuff a bar of snickers in my mouth and with a muffled response i say, "i gotta go to work, not right now" *exit* lol
lol, the good ol' avoid method, love it.
The TSA would love this 😂
About the power issue thing your friend had in Japan...
It's xiome
The sound in the beginning of the company name is sh
Soo it's like shoami
13:10
Call the fire department before you use that PSU!!!!!
Who needs x58 now, almost 7700k in cenebench, but under the level of any game, Arcade simulator? Its as old as my Striker II build! That's the only old RIG i still own and keep.
Gabe_N it's more like "shi-o-mi"
lucas rem for the price it'll beat any similarly priced Ryzen/Intel 4th+ Gen CPU on the market
Sky Walker
Old i7 CPU's are the best, X99 and Kaby! Keep using that old GTX 1080 too! If you bought your PC last summer, you paid less, and got better shit then now
glitch
It's about right
You see that son, they don't make those anymore.... that's why it's a Legendary Board.
And i'm happy to still be running it with a Core i7 920 @ 3.6ghz :D
Super jealous of those x58 boards. I've been looking for one to overclock my x5670 for ages and I can't find one for less than like $200. Not paying that much for a used 9 year old board.
ya back! see ya soon mate
Yeah nothing to declare, Japan to aus seems really relaxed, though the GC Airport is quite small compared to Sydney for example.
Tech YES City ah okay thanks Bryan
I would love to go to JP and find a nice X79 board for my 3930k for a price that isn't ridiculous. US used prices are nuts!
All I see is like 10 servers =) So much potential.
Pacific case flew over the specific ocean, LOL
Back when I had my x58 board and did some research on it I found some people were able to get more than 24GB recognized on board by the Xeons. It'd be really interesting if those boards supported (at least ran) the cheap ECC DDR3 from ebay. If you had some lying around it'd be interesting to see a build with that and a 1080ti comparing to modern builds.
they run 2rx8 ecc on desktop boards, you just have to be careful as most cheap server ecc sticks are 2rx4.
Really love this style of video! very interesting :)
