@@agedoutpodcast The corps in general. The percussion section overall retained a few members from 2022 along with some UNT students, and the average spread of percussionist from Texas.
Comments based on nothing... 1. I look for Phantom and Troopers to keep taking steps forward with Phantom likely improving the most. 2. Mandarins will push for the top 5. Might not be there quite yet. 3. SCV comes out swinging and finishes top 3 in percussion. 4. Boston and Bloo continue to play dense books that keep them in the conversation but ultimately hold them back from the top. Based on McNutt's interview, I think he's going to keep pushing the envelope. 5. Cavies take a slight dip in percussion but move up as a corps. 6. Crown's musicality and MJ’s writing in year two push them into the top 2. (Hot take) 7. BD keeps doing BD things. Might win Sanford, but dang there's a lot of competition. 8. My hope? BAC takes the Sanford. McNutt’s books have been nails.
Back when I started in drum corps in 1970, our first show was usually the beginning of June. Memorial Day weekend in 1971, I remember three parades, with a standstill performance as well.
Here! Here! on the comment about loving the corps that still run and gun. Been watching shows from the 90s in preparation for the season. I forget how much they moved their feet compared to more recent years.
I went to the BD Preview show in Laramie, and having seen them in person, here are my thoughts: Snare drums are very very clean, but quads and basses had more dirt than I expected (it still wasn't very much, obviously). Obviously it's early season, so they'll get WAY better, but still, they have some work to do. Their hornline is ridiculously clean, though, and they definitely have a shot at the brass trophy
For the algorithm! ✊ I hope fellow fans did their part and got some sweet sweet Aged Out Podcast swag. Now when I go out in public I get confused looks. While BD already sounds really good I have feelings that the VIS GE isn't going to be dominating, MUS GE maybe. I have good feelings about Boston. I think this will be a better realized show than last years. Crown will be good but I could imagine it's another 3/4 place show. Bluecoats to me is the biggest mystery and I've got a lot of interest there as the amazing Jay Davis is finally marching in DCI. What kind of show are they going to put out?!? Troopers I will always love because of western themes. Mandarins doesn't whip my wire - I think that theme isn't going to really pop-out to me. Colts seems solid. Phantom, eh. Love what I see in terms of show announcements from the fledging semis pack of Pacific Crest/Spirit. Crossmen will be different, don't know if its my bag. There's a few open/all age class shows that seem interesting. Of course this is all based on show announcements and a handful of content that has been seen.
Half an hour and not a *word* about Colts. Josh Nelson and team are intact and from all indications are continuing to make strong progress from the last two years. Based on a leaked video and reports from observers at Spring training, watch out!
Should get some good lot vids starting next week. Red Team will be at the Midwest Premiere, Muncie, and Madison within a span of a few days. Not to mention, Whitewater is a big show. Red Team will be there along with Cavies, Phantom, and Bluecoats.
I agree probably way to hard for the Cavies to repeat the success of last year! That line was absolutely incredible last year so to top that would be a miracle at best!
@@Gracie_Rayess oh so that's why she's so young, hopefully she pulls a brandon and marches center next year and beyond. Also btw I was referring to senior in college and not hs but thx for letting me know 👍
I could see that happening. If Crown takes home drums and likely brass, then in my opinion they will also be taking home a world championship. I wouldn't hate that a bit.
Totally with you on the short exercise train. Rennick has done basic exercises with SCV, and last year Cavies did not have a Monarch-esque warm up program. It's the KISS principle.
Thanks for the shout out for the DCCS merch booth. 🙏🏽
Fans gotta get the swag!
Vanguard got quite a few Cadets members. They have a community performance on the 22nd
Oh word. Are you talking just for the corps in general, or for the percussion section?

@@Griffin그리핀that means they’re gonna be sick. Watch for the members who step off right footed 👀

Pretty sure Rennick will win percussion again. SCV took a year off but UNT didn't

The excerise that Coats posted/played is an oldie but goodie called INSYNX. (written by Roger of course)
Short and sweet. I love to see it.

Yea, haven’t heard anything about the red team outside of the show title. Still waiting to see content from most of the groups.

I never counted them out. 💪
Is Mark Hunter still arranging for the Colts?

Tell me more what you think about phantoms rep. I’m very intrigued to hear what they do with the Akiho piece.
Good comments between Evan and Michael plus any hits or misses will be decided by Jeff Prosperie!!!😛😛😛😝😝😜😜😜🤪🤪🤪😎👏🏻👍🏻
I’ll report back from Mandarins Family Day this weekend!
🙌
Keep your eyes on that SCV snareline...👀

💀
yeah Jovi is in her senior year atm so she has at least 25' if not more. Their quads are stacked tho cause its their center quads age out
Center quad marched crossmen back in 2019. I was starting to think he was immune to aging out 😭
@@Mattyfear fr like I thought he aged out like last year but nope lol. Imagine if he still has indoor left after this lmfao
It’s not Jovi it’s, Jodge, and no she actually completed her senior year already she skipped a grade in middle school

I hope Boston “plays the game” as you both mentioned.
Yall are sleeping on the 27th Lancers fr

When in Mason gotta do a stop at Badges Drum Shop
it seems like this year is going to be abattle for best percussion for what I'm seeing...or cavies or another could just yk win everything again
👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Phantoms show is pronounced “Mind”
Are you lads drinking 🍸 when you watch these videos by the way am from Preston uk
