Scott just has such a way of putting together a show, such rich references to culture and history that for many may be their first exposure to these concepts and Scott is doing them in a very creative way to boot. It's always so enlightening hearing what he has to say about- not just this show- but shows and how they're put together in general. As a growing and learning designer I always feel like I learn something watching these. So excited to see the show live this year! I SMELL SMOKE!
Holy shit. This is real. Behold the exquisite artistry- the underlying meaning and immediacy of Chandler’s drum corps productions. This is drum corps’s finest hour.
I love how Scott is describing different parts of the show. I can’t wait to see the beginnings of the show next Friday and it will be awesome to see how the show progresses throughout the season and into Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium.
I didn’t get the show but I love BD. And you know what, as I learned about the show and the story behind it all…I grew an extremely deep admiration for what this show communicated. I kept saying it needs to be more digestible, but now I take that back. I enjoyed having to work for it. By finals I was screaming at the scream because those performers performed tf out of this show. I think we don’t know it yet, but BD pushes the boundaries again in drum corps.
somewhere the design team has fallen down occasionally. Tempus Snooze bored the hell out of so many people, no matter how beautiful or brilliantly executed. Just because you *can* do a certain thing, doesn't mean you *should* do it. I'm veryhappy that this year had so many elements that really did engage people. THe gaming music tie-ins really helped, as did the reminiscences so many have of a merry-go--round as a child.
just a minor detail that the Cabinets' front side design just HAPPENED to resemble the infamous Hellraiser Box designs, tying in with the show opening with "And The Heavens Shall Tremble", the opening main music from Diablo III game. Now I have to admit to being hella (hahaha) confused as to how the Diablo 3 music ties to individualism...
I hope the Blue Devils win because I’m a sucker for romance and the classical music from the Romantic Era is some of my favorite because it talks of a story with a climax and then the decent of the piece of music. I know the music may not be classic music but there is a build up to a climax in the show to a decent in the show.
