Very interesting concept I haven't seen a dock like this one before but without ethernet port it's a no-go from me thanks for the video good sound too this time.
It fits ok with the modcase stand removed, but the cable is pretty short and so you have to connect the cable first, then dock it. I wouldn’t recommend it as it feels a little too snug, and it could damage the port over time
I was wondering if a USB-A to Ethernet adapter would work with the dock? I used one with my OG Switch dock and it worked fine, so I'm guessing that it would work here as well.
Aww shucks, there's always some compromise with these docks and dongles! It's unfortunate that this one lacks ethernet. Otherwise it would be perfect for my needs. Well, maybe it's not vital because I probably wouldn't do competitive online gaming with the Deck. I want a hub that's guaranteed to be compatible with both Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch. But most Steam Deck docks are not compatible with the Switch (and not only because of the form factor), and most USB-C hubs are quite unreliable when it comes to power delivery. Most issues with some random 3rd Party docks arise from bad power delivery protocols, so they really can fry a chip in your Switch if they deliver too much power or uneven power. So guaranteed-to-work-with docks are usually only for Deck or Switch, or they lacks features like ethernet.
Guarantee is a strong word, but these guys have done a video in response to concerns over potentially bricking Nintendo switches… you might want to go check that out to give you some confidence. Personally I’m just using this a portable USB hub, as I don’t really play in docked mode. But it seems to work just fine.
@@steamdeckguy Yeah, I've seen that video. And after watching it I'm really hesitant to buy any hub because I can't be sure which actually deliver the right amount of power. :D I think I'm going to get the SteamDock with Core Drive Pro, as soon as it comes available.
I assume you mean use a usb hub instead of the core drive? If so, that should be possible since that’s all the core dive is…you just wouldn’t be able to slot it into the dock, so you might as well just buy any cheap steam deck stand at that point.
@@steamdeckguy I mean if you use a usb hub on the usb port. For example the basic version only has 1 usb slot, so i thought of that if it's possible. But i might end ordering the pro version.
That Dualsense stand is cool
Picked it up from etsy. It’s not cheap but blends nicely with the decor. The wife approves 😂

Could you not ad and adapter ? Jw
I have this Jsaux ModCase with 23mm thiccness, will it fit?

are you going to release your steam deck theme? it looks really good
Thanks - I did a video showing what themes I use if you’re interested. The only thing I added myself was the custom background
Can you review the GripCase SD for Steam Deck ? It looks so cool, I wanna know if it fits the Original Steamdeck Case
Do you mean if it will fit the steam deck dock? No case will work will the official dock unless they come with some extender of sorts.
@@steamdeckguy Nope, Skull are selling a new Grip Case. And if you can ask then if it fits the travelling bag that ships with the Steam Deck.
@@gregoriopierola7950 oh sorry. I think it will be fine. The JSAUX modcase fits in no problems, and size wise it looks pretty similar
Amazing video. Do you think it works on the Samsung S23 Ultra ?
Yeah it should do - I tried it with Samsung s20 and Dex worked fine.
@@steamdeckguy thanks 👍

I’d think so, yes
@@steamdeckguy As it turns out, this video review answers my question:

How bout the power delivery?
I like to use this hub with xreal/nreal display output via usb c
how to charge the steamdeck with the dock?
You plug the charger into the dock
Do you think this would work with the Killswitch case?
Don’t see why not
Awesome, thank you for the reply!
Is this compatible with ayaneo?
If it supports display over USBC then it should work.

@@geenaxion ok gotcha. I would just go for the pro since you get 1 extra port, and they are all usb3.0 so will be faster
How did you get the sound to work on the TV? It didn’t work for me
Go to audio settings and select external. If that works, set it back to auto and then it should auto switch next time it’s connected
That build quality looks bad.
It’s not the best
