- A brief history of every Oddworld game.
Handheld Oddworld games (Oddworld Adventures, Oddworld Adventures II and Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee GBA) Played By Ravenlordth-cam.com/users/WorldofLongplayswww.longplays.org
It occurs to me that I probably should've also used original footage of Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath when talking about the original versions but oh well.
Oddworld was created by Lorne Lanning who founded Oddworld Inhabitants which has produced many games, Including Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Oddworld: Soulstorm. I find the Oddworld lore fascination and hope to bring the Oddworld universe to life by telling the story of it and it's characters, creatures and locations so that they can be explained and theorised about by delving into Oddworld theory and the lore of the universe of the Oddworld games!

How would you rank the oddworld games from worst to best?
If you ever do more war of the worlds videos, heres some suggestions as to what adaptations you could cover:

They should definitely attempt an animated Series, i haven't played any Odd World game but the Art style, Lore and the World itself is quite fascinating to watch.
Oddworld Inhabitants has had its ups and downs. Even if sometimes the intentions were to do something completely different in the end as happened with AE you still get a beautiful game even if different from Lorne's expectations. it's as good as OWI Gets failures, but amazing successes by accident almost just like Abe himself :'). After the release of Soulstorm we saw a slightly different, but still beautiful style of Oddworld. Now I would like to see a new game, something new that brings back the old style of Oddworld inhabitants, that makes us say: "Yes... these are the ones who created AO and AE"
I would love to see the whole story line complete this was a amazing game I grew up playing and to see it complete is something I BREATHE FOR!

Just kidding: Great video. I am a fan of the game since day one and I never stopped loving the series. But I still think Exoddus is the best Oddworld game for me. Soulstorm was well made, but unfortunately its really frustrating and I didnt enjoy the changes they made for the story and the levels and puzzles.
Anyway: I am really exicted what comes next for this odd but great franchise :D

Just would like to say hope you're having a good day today! And I haven't watched the video yet but I've been walking down memory lane with your lore videos and so this is quite a treat :3
The 2D games worked so well because of the screen transitions. Removing these to make the movement fluid was a poor choice.
Munch's Odyssey was my intro to this world so many years ago. It's my favorite in the series
I once visited Disney Hollywood studios. And I was wearing a soulstorm brew themed shirt. One of the ppl checking my families bags to make sure nothing dangerous was inside noticed my shirt and saw the slogan for soulstorm brew. And the guy said “why does that line sound familiar?” I told him it was oddworld and he said he played it when he was younger. And also when I was in Florida when I was getting a microchip for my phone to get WiFi from the US on my phone. A guy saw my oddworld wallpaper and he remarked over it as a good franchise.
I'm hoping the current quintology is able to continue with its third game in the next few years and doesn't end as soon as the original quintology does. Perhaps since its oddworld inhabitants anniversary this year, we might finally see the announcement of the next game which i have dubbed "Oddworld:Nolybab".

They already kinda messed the quintology up considering Exodus was never part of the original quintology and they made Soulstorm, an Exodus remake. I wonder if we'll ever get to Squeek's Odyssey

My biggest problem with Soulstorm was the high percentage of good quarma you need for the good ending, and the added difficulty of the sections where you can accidentally kill the Mudokons you're supposed to protect.
getting 80% on 15 out of the 17 levels isn't that hard if you either go for it first try, or come back to it later through replay.
@@mozipuggamer maybe that's easy enough for you, but not all of us are good at shooting. I suck at those parts. 😮💨
@@Hack_Man_VII u don't have the reaction time to press R2 for less than a second? Or do you mean the parts where u have to protect the mudokons from the sligs? Bc if it's that, that's only in like 10% of the levels
@@mozipuggamer I suck at protecting the Mudokons from the Sligs. My vision sucks, even with glasses. I always kill the Mudokons by accident, and I don't kill Sligs fast enough. 😮💨
@@Hack_Man_VII there’s tutorials online if you need those to help. Keep trying, you’ll get it eventually.

The Oddworld series/universe is very important to me, since childhood in fact...
It inspired me to be an artist, and keeps inspirin' me to keep at it.
I own a lot to this franchise, and I only pray it grows!~ 💛💜

Wow. Munches odyssey was one of the first games I ever played. I was too young and unfamiliar with 3D environments to finish it. I'm happy to still see its around. And to learn about this franchise

People Always forgot a key point:
Abe discover his own lost culture erased by consumerism/glukons in his journey, this is a point that every review miss.
He call the shaman "big face" he really dont know anything about his own culture.This is genius cause we relate to him that way.
You say it yourself, at the start he is blissfully unaware , "employee of the year", so proud of using the vacuum.
Was abe born in rupture farm or a breeding ground? Is a legit question.
Just wanna say you are the reason I bought New n Tasty and Soulstorm. Appreciate you for getting me back into this series after so many years
did soul storm make money or did they loose money, that's a good metric for if they can make the next game

Here is my personal rating of the Oddworld games I've finished:
1. Oddworld Abe's Exoddus - 9.5
2. Oddworld Abe's Oddysee - 8.7
3. Oddworld Soulstorm - 8.5
4. Oddworld New 'n' Tasty - 8.0 to 8.4
5. Oddworld Munch's Oddysee - 7.5 to 7.9
6. Oddworld Stranger's Wrath - 7.0 to 7.4
Maybe the next oddworld game they make will be a reimagining of Munch's Oddysee.

Oddworld Abe's Odyssey was something so different to what was out at the time. I remember playing it in 99 or 00 and no one knew what I was talking about, it was so awesome!
this franchise has had an unfortunate streak of bad luck for the longest time
Im just sad we went from 3d to side scrolling and seem like its going to stay side scrolling.
But I suppose the studio cant really do more to be fair. Munches odyssey was at their hight.

well this one's gonna be a great one
Soul storm was just okay. That bloody crane section was too much. Quit the game and tried it again, couldn't get back into it... the trellis sections became too hard (having previously done them with ease).
Plus all the clipping machinery in the tank farm really annoyed me... shame really
Oh, and the sleeches are the worse designed enemy in any game. Zero tension, easily countered with a spent flare and a real down grade from the fleeches!
I really hope we get a legit continuation of the story in the form of a completely original brand new game sometime in the near future

Exoddus (the original) was always my favorite out of the series. Followed closely by Oddysee. Not really a fan of New n Tasty nor Soulstorm.

i played this on PC even before ps1 even produced
I'm pleased to hear Soulstorm did well because I couldn't play it, even after patches and mods I disliked the gameplay so much. However, the cutscenes were amazing. I wish Oddworld would branch out into animation and release an anthology series of short stories.

idk if i can call myself fan of odd world. ive always know of the name although never played it cuz the visuals were off putting to me but i saw Strangers wrath one time as a kid and immediately knew i had to get it . i remember seeing the Odd World title on it wonder for years if they were connected of if someone just used the title but i never cared to really look lol , like i said i was aware already of the oddworld series and just thought it wasn't my thing. so fast forward i learned that I'm a hardcore fan of the Oddworld spin off only being one of my favorite games and I've never played the other ones yet lol

I really hope that they figure out what the next one will be. I wonder if they will remake strangers wrath at some point. I loved that damn game, i was one of the people that played it om the original Xbox.
