Hello sir! Just wanted to give you an update.......got the MoJack 550 at Tractor Supply for $250 minus tax and it works great! Folds up nice and easy. Got 2 of those 70 pound capacity wall brackets from Harbor Freight and screwed them into studs to hang the jack on my wall so that it takes up no floor space. I will say, I pulled the plug out of my old Harbor Freight jack and filled the jack with hydraulic fluid and it fixed the problem on the jack not going up all the way. I took that jack to my moms so that I can work on her mower whenever I need to instead of transporting my jack. Also, to any Military Veterans out there, if you want to purchase one of these you can sign up at Tractor Supply and they do have discount days at Tractor Supply where you can get a percentage off for being a Veteran. I didn't feel like waiting around for that so I bought mine outright but it's nice to know they have discounts out there for police, emt's, veterans. Thanks again for your video!
You’re welcome! And thank you for sharing this information for veterans and service workers. Great price at $250! Good job on repairing the old Jack, it’s always satisfying to fix something rather than getting rid of it!
Very good video. You may want to place angular wood blocks behind the rear wheels once you have the front of the mower to the height you want. Otherwise, an excellent video.
Thanks for this video! I have had the cheaper, 300 lbs. jack from Harbor Freight for 12 years or so and have worked on my mowers(I have a 46" Cub Cadet and a 60" Exmark Radius E), my moms mower, neighbors, friends, in laws mowers in that time and have used it 70 plus times. It's kinda falling apart and I am looking at this jack. They have it at Tractor Supply for $230. Funny because it's $300 on Amazon. Might be a different brand but I was shocked to see it more on Amazon! I like that it picks up 500 lbs. as apposed to my 300 lbs. Harbor Freight and I see that it folds up and takes up less space. I did look at another video and a guy worked on mowers and had it for 1 year and he said he used it 50 times and had to refill the hydraulic fluid in it. Didn't seem too hard but just curious if you've had any issues with this jack like leaking fluid or anything? I am planning on buying this jack this month and have been doing some research. I love these jacks though! No more putting a wood block and busting your knuckles! Thanks for the video and would love to hear your thoughts.
You’re welcome! Wow, I can’t believe the price differences at all the different stores! They all are advertised as MoJack and they all look like the same product. Funny that there is slightly different descriptions though. I got mine at Home Depot and it says MoJack HDL 500. Shockingly, Home Depot is now selling it for $379!!! I can’t say for sure, but it seems like I remember paying $250 for it a little over 2 years ago. Amazon describes it the same as Home Depot (HDL 500) and as you said, sells it for $299.99. I see the Tractor Supply describes it a little differently as it doesn’t say “HDL” but says 550 lbs instead of 500 and advertises it as lifting 26” as opposed to Home Depot listing as lifting 24”. Other than that, it looks identical and they sell it for $239.99. Go figure, I would imagine it’s the same manufacturer making it for different stores like so many other manufacturers do with their products. So if everything is basically equal, I would jump all over the $239.99 price at Tractor Supply if I was buying today! Now for how it’s holding up and other thoughts. I absolutely love it. I use it frequently for sharpening blades and occasionally for other things. However, a few weeks ago when I last sharpened the blades, I did notice a little fluid leaking on the hydraulic cylinder. Not a lot, and it still worked ok, but definitely something that I’m going to have to keep an eye on and like you said, possibly refill it eventually. So thanks for watching and thanks for sharing your price search! Hopefully, others seeing this can also take advantage of the better deal at Tractor Supply!
@@DIYBoomers I plan on going to Tractor Supply this weekend to buy it. You are right, the one at Tractor Supply is black and says it picks up 550 lbs. There's a DeWalt jack at Home Depot looks the same and I think it has the same stats as the MoJack but it's yellow and says DeWalt on it and it's $300. I was just curious about the jack itself. Didn't know if it was a known problem to leak and loose fluid. You may have already seen this video but it's buy a guy that has a channel called "Otto's Small Engine" and the video is called "Mojack Wouldn't Lift Anymore! Here's My Solution" and he's the one that showed how he fixed it. I don't recall him saying that he visually saw fluid on the ground though. You seem very mechanically inclined and you may have already seen the video but that's one of the many video's I looked up about this jack. I do love how it folds up compared to the Harbor Freight kind of jacks. They take up a ton of space even after you break it down. I also like how the arms that come out on the MoJack are stationary. The Harbor Freight ones have pins that adjust to front wheel size but I don't really need that because my Exmark has huge front caster wheels almost the size of the front wheels on your mower. Thanks for replying to me. It helps to talk to people that own products that you want to buy.
Sure, absolutely helps getting info that makes for better purchasing decisions. I have not seen Otto’s video but I will definitely check it out! One thing worth mentioning is that all of the MoJack lifts like the model we are talking about have adjustable tire brackets. You can see in the pictures on the top of the square hollow tube that hold the tire brackets, the heads of the steel pins that secure the tire brackets. In the description of the lift at Tractor Supply, it says that it adjusts for wheel spans from 18.5” to 47.5”, so that’s convenient to have. It also helps with storage as the tire brackets are removable. Thanks again for the heads up on Otto’s video, I will be checking that out!
@@DIYBoomers I didn't say it right when I was talking about adjustments on the arms. I'm trying to figure out how to type it......both of these jacks adjust for the distance between each front tire. The Harbor Freight jack also has a pin that moves (on the end of the arms) to adjust for tire size. So, if you have a smaller zero turn mower with smaller caster wheels for instance, you can adjust that pin at the end of the arms to keep the wheel in that part that lifts the mower up. Now, mine didn't come with any straps that keeps the wheels strapped into that end piece so I would adjust that long pin at the end of each arm to cradle the wheel bigger or smaller depending on the front tire size. I don't see a need for that pin adjustment because most of the tire sizes are roughly the same on the mowers I work on. Hopefully I typed that right and you get what I'm trying to say!
I bought this jack last fall when I bought an x354 and it works really well, easy to use, move and store. When you fold it up you can wheel it to wherever you need to move it instead of carrying it. Now I change my blades when I should and keep the deck like yours!
Thanks for this. Didn't even realize there is a jack like this! Was going to pay someone to change the drive belt for the price of the jack. Now, I can change it myself and keep the jack!
You’re welcome! Yeah, that’s exactly the reasoning of mine when buying tools for jobs that I figure I can do myself. The bonus is getting to keep the tools! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Very straightforward and to the point. Just bought an x354 and plan on taking care of " the big green" for years to come !
Yes, you’re welcome! Agree with that completely. Really like my new John Deere and plan on doing the same. Well worth the effort. The X354 looks like a really nice tractor!
Thanks for the video here. I just picked up this jack myself. My first zero turn mower arrives on Monday. I plan on during a lot of the maintenance myself. My first project is the John Deere mulch kit and gator blades. Thanks again.
Thanks for all the info. After watching your video two days ago, I ordered the mojack and received it this morning. It will make cleaning under my John Deere so much easier!
Sure, you’re welcome! Yeah, I normally investigate thoroughly before buying anything and the MoJack is another purchase that I’m very happy with. I’m sure you’ll like it.
I have the same model mower but I bought my jack at Harbor Freight, it makes an interesting comparison. My HF lift has some definite advantages while at about 1/3 the price you paid. Mine can be folded but I usually leave it fully assembled, it has an upright component that I store about a foot in front of my car bumper, while the lift part is very flat and easily fits under the car. No boards are needed, it clears everything with no problem at all, it also has a pedal operated jack, very convenient, and a large knob to release the pump pressure. It doesn't automatically lock at different heights it has a hardened pin instead. Pros: It fits the mower, no home made adapters needed, and is quite frankly, easier to use, I paid about $100 for it. Cons, Depending on your situation, may or may not take more room to store, mine takes up no more space than yours if you store it like I do. Made in China, I like to support USA manufacturing too but I have to consider the price difference.
Sounds good! I’m all about saving $$. In my online searches for mower jacks, Harbor Freight jacks never came up. I would have had to take a good look at that price!
You’re welcome. Yeah, I just hated to see the new S130 get all caked up on the underside of the deck the way our previous mowers did. That and thinking I should be sharpening the blades regularly ultimately made me decide to get the lift. Much easier than having to remove the deck!
Thanks! Likewise on yours. Looks like you’re off to a great start with your channel. It takes a while to get traction, but I think your content will eventually pay off. Thanks for watching and good luck!
I love John Deere’s...had several over the years. End of last year I sold my 3 year old S240... was in perfect condition but I like new stuff...however this spring I tried to buy a new John Deere and found out they are basically not available till August! There are a few S100’s 27 HP... I was lucky to find and S120 at Home Depot and grabbed it. I called all the dealers in Ct. along with all the Lowes and Home Depot’s...I got lucky to find an S120... I wanted an S130.
Yeah, I’ve noticed a few new Deere’s at Lowes, but not at Home Depot. Didn’t stop to see which models were available at Lowes. Looks like the supply chain disruption continues into 2022! I got real lucky at the end of last summer to find one of a couple S130’s that were just getting delivered to a local dealer. Everyone else was completely out.
I bought a S130 and love it. I used DuPont Non-Stick Dry-Film Lubricant Aerosol, 10 oz to spray under my deck and it is amazing very little grass sticks under the deck. And what does stick you can wipe it of easily!!
Question... Will this jack be able to lift a mower that has 4 flats and is low to the ground? I can't fit a floor jack or a scissor jack under it to lift it so I can change tires out.
Well, there’s a couple of problems with that. For one, you need to roll the mower onto the jack so that the tires are on top of the lifting brackets of the jack. Then, when the mower is on the jack, the tires are held in place since they are the point of contact between the mower and the jack brackets for lifting, which would make it difficult (and dangerous) to remove the wheels. Sorry, but you’ll have to figure out another way.
Perfect video for my small issue. I looked at the HF lift and was told the newer version no longer folds up like the Mojack 550. I found the Mojack 550 folds up against my wall perfectly. But I ran into the problem you did with my John Deere S100 having that center deck adjusting rod. My first go-around I notice it was semi tight against the Mojack front bar. I remember seeing your video and looked it up again. I've made two blocks of wood out of 2x4's. Tomorrow I'll try it again. Curious what size width were those two boards in your video. Otherwise the lift works great and is quite heavy duty.
I just used a couple of 2x10 scraps that I had laying around. The actual width of a 2x10 is 9 1/4”. So mine are 9 1/4” by 3 1/2”. The wheel brackets are just over 9 1/2” wide on the MoJack that I have. If yours is the same, a 2x4 that is 9 1/2” long would work just fine, however they don’t have to be that long since they don’t have to fit tight in the wheel brackets. I just lay them on a diagonal against the front bar of the bracket and roll the tire up against them to hold them in place. Yeah, I really like the MoJack 550.
Have your blocks ever popped out while using? I have the same jack but it hits the underside of my Kubota GR2120. I tried the blocks (2x4) and it raised and cleared the bottom.
No, I’ve never had a problem with the blocking. When you think about it, they really can’t fall out with stable and even pressure on the tire side even though the contact on the bracket is not wide. Mine have stayed right in place.
I looked at that one, but at $300 I opted for the Pittsburgh high lift I caught on sale for $99 Harbor freight 2 years ago. Works the same, no easy storage though. Love it
I had that one for 12 years. Still have it. It's falling apart but for the price it was a good jack! If I was only doing my mowers it would still be in great shape. I also work on a lot of other peoples mowers so I have put some wear on it. Maybe they make them different now but the welds for the handle broke off after 7 years. Maybe put some heavy duty zip ties or good hose clamp around the frame and handle to take some of the stress off the handle. I was looking at this jack because it folds up easier. Great jack for the price though!
It’s too late now, but if you would have looked further you would have found the CAT mower lift that tilts the entire mower to the side rather than lifting from the front. It leaves everything unobstructed underneath for service or repair.
The CAT lift is actually the first lift that I saw that got me looking at them to begin with. Looks like a great lift. I guess I ultimately decided on a front lift for a couple of reasons. First reason is that I’m somewhat of a penny pincher, the MoJack was $50 cheaper. Not to say that I wouldn’t spend a little more if I thought it was warranted, but the front lifts give you access from both sides which is nice for blade sharpening/changes. Also, using the pressure washer from both sides allows you to see and access the opposite inside edges of the deck for cleaning. Initially, I was about to pull the trigger on a CAT, but like I said, I’m a little bit about saving $$ anywhere I can that makes sense to me.
@@donflash1128 You are very wise to do this. All fasteners have wicking ability do to the necessary close fit between male and female threads. They suck in moisture which will corrode them in short order. Believe it or not anti seize is even recommended for stainless fasteners that will be disassembled and reassembled frequently not for corrosion resistance, but because of its anti galling properties.
It has a 500 lb capacity and seems very sturdy to me especially since you’re only lifting one end of the tractor. It has three position locking bars that take the bottle jack out of the possibility of leaking off.
Hi can you tell me if the front bar of the jack is blocking access to remove the PTO clutch. I need to drop it in order to replace the drive belt. Thanks.
Hello. No the front bar of the Jack is about 4” away from the PTO clutch towards the front of the mower on our JD S130. It shouldn’t be a problem. However, I am wondering why you say that you need to drop the PTO in order to change the drive belt. The middle tensioner pulley on the deck is tensioned with a spring. You can push the pulley forward to create slack in the drive belt and remove it from the PTO clutch. Good luck with that.
@@DIYBoomers What you’re describing is the deck belt, which spins the cutting blades. What I’m replacing is the transmission drive belt that spins the rear wheels. Thanks for your answer to the PTO. I have an E150.
Yeah, I thought it might be something else. I would imagine the E150 is similar enough to the S130 as to how it fits on the Jack in relation to the PTO.
Wow, how much fun is that! I took a look at a video that shows replacing the drive belt on an S130. I had no idea (as you noticed by my first comment). With our S130 being the fourth lawn tractor that we’ve owned, we’ve never had to deal with replacing a drive belt. Out of sight, out of mind, that belt is really buried up in the chassis. Did the belt break on you?
@@DIYBoomers I was having trouble going uphill, which I hadn’t before. So I assumed that the drive belt was either damaged or stretched, which would make the mower lose power. I had no problems going on flat land. Upon further investigation under the mower, I discovered that a bunch of grass and dirt were trapped under the foot pedal mechanism, which prevented me from pressing the forward pedal all the way down, thus the transmission wasn’t getting full power, only maybe 2/3 power. I used a brush and thin stick to clear out the stuck grass and dirt and blew everything out with a leaf blower, and the mower goes uphill fine now. Pheww saved me a bunch of work! I’ve had the mower for 5 years, and I do blow it clean after every session, but I guess the air couldn’t get into the crevices under the foot pedals.
I dont have a jack like yours but I just use a winch to lift the mower and I definitely don't have a mower as nice as yours and I thought the mower I have was a peice of junk but the deck is still solid and it runs and drives so it's a good mower and idk how the deck looks
The winch is actually a great way to do tractor maintenance. If I did more mechanical work than just the lawn tractor, I would have looked into a winch setup.
@@DIYBoomers I found out how the deck looks under neath and it doesn't even look like it's even touched a lawn because there was no grass but that might be because it sat since 2010 the deck was regularly cleaned before it sat

@@DIYBoomers2x4 blocks worked perfectly!
Great!
Can you please tell me the model of your floor jack I would like to purchase that it seems small and compact and it does the job thank
No problem, here’s a link below.

Love it
Yeah, that’s a big savings. Good deal!
Sounds like you definitely got your money’s worth out of it. I always enjoy finding a good deal!
The wood block technique worked with my X350. Thanks!!!
You’re welcome! Always glad to hear that the videos are helpful!
Nice tool.
Yes, very!
I put never seize on the studs for the blades.
Hadn’t heard of that. Makes sense! I will have to look into it.
@@DIYBoomers You brush it on and it is so much easier to unbolt anything. It comes in a small plastic bottle.
Hi is it safe to work on it under the deck to change blades while it is up on that MOJO lift? Won’t collapse?
It has a 500 lb capacity and seems very sturdy to me especially since you’re only lifting one end of the tractor. It has three position locking bars that take the bottle jack out of the possibility of leaking off.
🤡😆
Where can you get that jack?
A few different retailers sell it. Here’s an Amazon link to it.
