I just made the decision to chose this freaking Mos right now at about midnight in my bed. Trell, thank you for doing videos like this. I also have the same exact problem my parents and I wanted me to do a technical Job but my buddies are doing infantry. I have never been so certain of anything in my life, whether utilities or not (I would prefer combat engineer though).
To give you an idea of what combat engineers usually do nowadays when deployed, it’s a lot of FOB improving. This means filling hesco barriers, building and improving posts, em placing obstacles and a lot of building. If you’re lucky and the mission changes, you will be out sweeping for IEDs and if you’re really lucky you’ll be breaching with explosives but the world is very different than it was 10 or so years ago. This all being said, this is if you’re lucky enough to get stationed at a CEB and you’re platoon gets attached to an infantry battalion. By all means I am not discouraging anyone because this was the best job I will ever have in my life but don’t get your hopes up too high. This way when you get to your unit and you’re not doing what you thought you would be, you won’t become a total shitbag and discredit the rest of the combat engineer community. Remember, this sgt is a recruiter so there goal is to get you to enlist. I can’t stress how much I am not trying to discredit everything he is saying however, your situation will vary drastically from the next Marine. If you guys have questions, feel free to hit me up and I’ll do what I can to help you out.
@@gustavogutierrez3281 Combat Engineers can see combat but gotta remember that most of the Marine Corps infantry won’t even see combat in our current world. When we were in Syria, some of our engineered received small arms fire while on a convoy which lasted all but 20 seconds. That was about the extent of their combat. Best bet to see combat as a combat engineer would be to go to either 1st or 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion and pray your platoon gets attached to an infantry battalion that is deploying to CENTCOM.
I’m currently in the schoolhouse for combat engineer, what would you say life as a combat engineer in Japan? Because that’s where I’m hoping to get stationed
Is the infantry worth it ? Is it fun and worth it Is basically what I’m asking. What do you think from your personal experience as a infantryman.
From what I’ve read so far Infantry isn’t worth it because once your contract ends and you’re back in the civilian world, your experience in the infantry will NOT translate well into getting you a decent job. That’s why there’s a recurring joke about Marines ending up homeless after they return to civilization.
From what I've researched and a bunch of interviews/podcasts you do mostly a bunch of dumb shit. Cleaning, sweeping, maintaining weapons. If we're not at conflict infantry for both Marines and Army just do mundane shit.
If I join the delayed entry program and put 1371 as my number one does that mean that I have the same potential of getting bulk fueler as I do combat engineer
Fuck no they don’t combat engineer are ahead of infantry I am a combat engineer we are infantry but more we deal with explosive building obstacles and everything infantry does
I think they help construct and repair things like airstrips, bases, bridges, etc. during wars and also help blow things up and destroy areas to build on or help other units be able to pass through areas previously blocked by things like buildings.

You still have a chance getting into the Marines but you will be considered a Tier 2 candidate you will need to talk to a recruiter and see if you can get in. The USMC only lets a certain amount of GEDs in per year. But if you are good physically and do well on the ASVAB you will have a better chance.
Why is he talking in the perspective like he chose combat engineer thought it’s the needs of the marine corps he could’ve gotten any job in his MOS field like bulk special which no one wants.
