There's a hobby shop boss in Hong Kong told me that that kit had been sold more than 300 boxes. He said that most modelers don't really care about accuracy because they just want to have fun. As a business man point of view, he is right. But if accuracy is not important even wrong, then I should keep building my favorite science fiction models Maschinen Krieger.
+chun hung hardy mung I think accuracy is important to some far more than others. I think American modelers like myself tend to be a little rivet county and accuracy obsessed whereas from what I've seen Asian modelers seem to have more fun. I get a lot of enjoyment out of this constant pursuit of the perfect model. I know it'll never be perfect, but knowing that I'm accurately recreating something that once existed really seems to spark my passion. And that's what's important. If Maschinen Kreiger inspires you, than that's what you should build.
I have never built a Tiger before, but have decided to build one in 2016. After this review, I think Ill go with this one - just add a metal barrel. I really like the tracks - has me interested and I think that is what sold me on this one.
+Adam Mann - so the metal barrel and the model showed up yesterday - and I finished my ISM Jagd SIG build just this morning - guess that means I can start on this now.
Adam, I love your reviews. You look at kit reviews in positive way and show the pitfalls and highlight's to any kit. The tracks look great as you say, I have just completed two sets of Fruimodel tracks one for a Dragon Elefant and the other for the Tamiya T55 Enigma. Its time consuming but I feel well worth it, but the price is high as you say. Keep up the work
Ah now I understand why I have 4 different types of side plates in this 503 kit they have obviously fixed that fender issue now with that being there next kit! I'll definitely watch out for that and what one I'm using that's a good bit of info there! If you want to a do a more accurate one now get the Early Eastern front 503 kit it's the same kit everything has been rectified by what you have said in this full video it's been very interesting! I've just edited my comment after testing the 4 side armour plates fornthe hull fenders and they now fit correctly with the angled fenders the square bolt hole fitments are in different places now when lined up with the original one's in this kit so anyone who wants to do a DAK I would got with the 503 Eastern front kit to build this kit now! Just don't buy this kit if you get same updated parts in 503, only thing you don't get is them front PE fender plates!? Where they added from a dragon kit yourself?
Thanks for the great review Adam. You have convinced me, if that is worth anything, to give this model company, or at the lest this specific tank model a shot. As always, your reviews are well worth the view, Kutgw dude! Gilbert
Adam, very correct on the gun barrel, it is not just off, it is way off, the mantlet is off as well according to the book I haveWaldemar Trojca Technical and operational history, it has 1/35 scale drawings , while I am not a every nut in the right place guy, I did correct it with a RB Productions barrel, with a small mod to the mantlet, in my opinion though, unless it is sitting next to a tiger model with the correct size barrel , most would not notice, Just thought I would pass it along.
+Tony Quinn I agree about the barrel. I have it sitting next to a number of other 1/35 Tigers so it's pretty noticeable. The mantlet as far as I know is a possible DAK initial mantlet but not the only one seen in Africa, and incorrect for some marking options.
A great AAR Adam. You just sold me on this kit. I also like that even though you are bringing up points that are "rivet counting", you point out that they aren't huge deal breakers. Like you said, if we want competition which will only make the manufacturers produce better kits, we need to support companies like RFM. Excuse me now......I have to go to scalehobbyist and buy this kit......
+Ian E (That 1 35th Scale Show) Thanks mang, I know it's what is most important about a kit. I still like to do in-boxes, but I think this is way more relevant to someone debating on a kit.
Thanks Adam for sharing. I enjoy watching your reviews. The DAK Tiger is one of my favorite tank models. These kits are great, when compared to the Tamiya kits I built in the 1970's. I have a ton of kits and will start building soon. Your work is very appreciated by people like me so I know which kits to buy. Thanks again, I look forward to your next review! David
Great review as always, This kit does have it issue's , BUT like you said, with just alittle TLC it will turn out fine, I don't think there is a Dragon Tiger I out there that does not have its issue's, So for the price it is hard to beat this kit, But this is just myhumble opinion , and I am no expert, With the New Dragon DAK on the horizon and with what I heard about the corrections they made, we shall see, I really wish they would put corrected Magic Tracks in the kit, I do know some people like the DS version's but with the sloppy packing and them getting crushed, what's the point, I say put both " Corrected " Magictracks and DS and let the builder decide which version to use, I mean the kits are hitting the $80.00 mark anyway, :)
I really like this kit, it is Tamiya like but better, I wish they would have given us the engine fans for both sides though or something to fill the void on each side under the screens, Oh well. Tank work shop to the rescue, Just so you know theresin ones for Tamiya Tiger's fits like a glove . good thing I kept my Tamiya after market stuff. LOL.
stopped buying Dragon along time ago because of the price! here in the U.K Tamiya is just as bad re-issuing old kits but at high prices! so Miniart and RFM are the ones I'm in favour of.
Loving your videos. Question, which brand and version would you recommend for a good early production 1/35 Tiger? I mean most accurate in scale and relatively good details. I just build a Tamiya one, but don’t really like it due difficult to align the suspension arms perfectly coz cut points of the parts on the sprue are right at the joins between arms and the hull.
Adam another great video I am a tiger addict and love the DAK tigers don't ask me why. at u gonna do a kit review on the dragon DAK tiger when it comes out.
+F.W. Sauerteig I think one side might be but I can always push the idler further out when I actually glue the suspension in, right now it's dry fitted.
your so right, some kits just drive you nuts, with all the little bits, I have the over engineered tigers from dragon, just don't know, if I want another over engineered tiger. my build knowledge of all tiger kits, except this one. just gets you thinking, NOT ANOTHER ONE. in your opinion, is it worth getting to build, or is it just a stash queen? BTW I really like your feifel air filters, you ever think about making them in resin? cool review.
+Clayton McClain I have thought about printing Feifels and then casting them in Resin, but when Dragon put out the 131 kit which had great styrene ones I lost my drive to do that. I think this is actually a decent build, not a shelf queen, but does require some love. If you have lots of Dragon Tigers you don't need it. I just have a compulsion to build all things Tiger.
Love your videos! Do you think it would be possible to place these tracks on a Dragon #6252? would it be worth it ? (Not too concerned whether they are mirrored or 100% correct , but they seem to be better than what Dragon comes with ...)
Hey Adam I found a few inaccuracies with the possibility of doing the 121 tiger. In a photo I found the tow cables are laid out in the “post initial” manner with she shackles at the front where as the kit has the dak layout of shackles at the back. I’m confused as to how this is possible because the photo also depicted the front fenders as dak (smaller rounded). Is this an anomaly or something? I’m assuming that the cable config couldn’t have been changed as it would require re welding the guides on the deck of the tank. Please advise! Thanks!
Only about 17 Tigers had the thin cable with its ends at the rear of the tank. Tiger "121" of 501 in Tunisia already had the thick cable with its ends at the front. p.s. although Rye Field lay out their cable in the "thin" way, the cable parts in their kit are for the "thick" cable, that is, they're too big to be the "thin" cable.
+Martin Collmer I thought about that, which is why I didn't fix them. I'd cut off the bolts on the hull that were wrong and correct them, and I think you'd either have to use another companies Fenders (Tamiya maybe) of after market brass ones from Voyager, In which case you'd get PE for the hull bolts as well. That is an expensive option, which is why I didn't bother. If you did though, the dimensions match Dragon better than Tamiya, so aftermarket meant for Dragon would be better.
+RandomCanEHdian No, that's all dry fitting. Everything comes off and goes on sticks for painting. If you watch carefully I'm constantly pushing the sprockets and wheels back on during the video.

nice to see the weaknesses exposed, you can only tell that as soon as you actually built the thing. thanks for showing adam!
+Hamilkar Barkas I would do it for me anyway, so why not share right? It's good though.
sure, but still, it is generous :)
I have never built a Tiger before, but have decided to build one in 2016. After this review, I think Ill go with this one - just add a metal barrel. I really like the tracks - has me interested and I think that is what sold me on this one.
+Troy Fullmer It was a fun build, I think you'd enjoy it.
+Adam Mann - so the metal barrel and the model showed up yesterday - and I finished my ISM Jagd SIG build just this morning - guess that means I can start on this now.
Great review. Excellent way you compared several different kits.
Outstanding !!!
Thanks Adam!!!
I am about to start on it
This kit!!
Lol
Cool review !!!!
Hope your well, have not seen anything from you lately ?
Looks great seems to be a very good Tiger and a gutsy model to produce as the first one. Great informative review.
+michael green It was very gutsy move indeed. They did pretty well, I just hope they tweak as they continue to make new ones.

+Paul Inge Thank you very much. It means a lot to get the endorsement of other modelers.
I think they are so much better than Dragon tiger .I have been buying them up as fast as I can . They are so much better

They now sell this dak as 5001u, updated w fixes.
Great review. I will have to check this kit out in the future. Nice job.
+Shawn Streeter Thanks very much. It's worth what they're charging for sure.

+Red Dragon ModelWerks Thanks very much Gil.
I got all the rye fields. I agree. I like the tracks. Still a Tamiya guy. But love this kits

The gun is 3mm longer and the mud flaps on the side have issues there is a resin correction set from new tiger designs to fix the problems
+Glen Harlow I mention the gun length issue in the video.

+Doug Hotaling Thanks very much, I appreciate that. It's certainly worth the money.
I love this after action format, it's really fantastic Adam. Regardless that it's a Tiger 1 ha ha your zoom ability is on spot with "Submarine" kutgw
+Ian E (That 1 35th Scale Show) Thanks mang, I know it's what is most important about a kit. I still like to do in-boxes, but I think this is way more relevant to someone debating on a kit.

it looks like a nice kit
+dalton vickers It's not bad, not for that price.

Probably Dragon 6730 or the Tiger 131 kit, 6820 I believe. Really nice kits to build. Tracks need replacing though.
Adam another great video I am a tiger addict and love the DAK tigers don't ask me why. at u gonna do a kit review on the dragon DAK tiger when it comes out.
+Phil Bonaffini Yes, yes I am. Should be within a few days of the release.
Tracks look a little loose to me. I would remove one or two links to get a tighter fit. Tracks that loose on a real tank would fall off.
+F.W. Sauerteig I think one side might be but I can always push the idler further out when I actually glue the suspension in, right now it's dry fitted.
Is there a sequential build..I can not find one..though nice work Adam ..I am assuming you are doing weathering
Unfortunately no.
When will we see her with paint?
+Steven Piper Soon I hope.

Is the gun mantlet too thin?
What's your go to Afrika Korp Colors?
Brand ?

If you fix the fenders, how? Or would you leave them?
+Martin Collmer I thought about that, which is why I didn't fix them. Adam Mann Ah, alright.
Did the tracks come in the kit if not where did u buy them? What company?
The tracks come in the kit, the company is Rye Field Model.
Thanks.
+Adam Mann where do I buy it?

Hey Adam, I managed to fix the gap on the back of the turret. You can see the process here: th-cam.com/video/Re3UMTNqHnE/w-d-xo.html
+Encuentros Cercanos del Tercer Mundo I sanded it similarly when I built the 503 with interior and Fehrmann Tigers.
Oh, I see. Well, I guess I still haven't seen all your (awesome) videos :)

Hey man, no worries. I like your editing style.
I'm glad you like it! It's very time consuming though, but the result is worth the effort.
Can IT drive?
It could move correctly, but not on it's own power.
Ok
A lot of things wrong, its not an initial production model.
Is that so? What exactly is it then? And are you saying I did things wrong or Rye Field did?
