    Here is my in-box review and after action report of Dragon's Tiger I 6700 Mid Tiger I with Zimmerit. Good kit, with some interesting features compared to other Tiger kits I've built.

    Hi Adam. At 55 yrs. of age, I've picked up the model building bug again after many years. Your reviews, both kit and "after action", are excellent. Because of these, I have started searching out higher quality, more advanced kits. Once I finish my Great Wall Hobby P-61 Black Widow, I plan on starting my foray into Tigers. These kits look amazing and look to be quite challenging. Between Dragon and Rye Field, I have my future work cut out for me. The information you have given me will save me a lot of wasted time and money. Keep up the good work! I have watched almost all of them. It has been a lot of fun starting up again!!! (even taking up airbrushing - why did I wait with that?) Take care... Paul

    Great review. I built this kit about 6 months ago. Everything went well except I decided to be bold and use the PE parts for the tool mounts.... OMG! Never freaking again! I'm going to start building 6383 very soon!

    this is excellent, Adam. This is a truly useful and in-depth look at a kit that anyone can make use of it if they're interested in building it. And… It makes me feel a lot better about the length of the review segment I just completed on the Dragon 109! ;)

    Hey Adam, The easiest way to paint the rubber tires is to paint them separately. Use a small 3/4" piece of Plywood and a nail the size of the torsion bar axle. Tap the nail into the plywood just deep enough to hold in place. Use the nail like a peg and put the road wheel through the nail to keep it stationary. Use a fine round sable brush and pallet your paint to get it the right consistency to flow easy. Use one finger to turn the wheel while you use your other hand as a stationary platform to paint the tire. You shouldn't have to move your hands at all, just one index finger. Hope that helps. Painting road wheels made easy.

    That deep wading turret vent cover was only used when fording or peeing dow with rain they would throw it on or it leaked like heck

  • @thearsenalmisfit2414
    @thearsenalmisfit2414 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The gun barrel cradle was put on the back because when the tank was put on a train car the tank would not fit with the gun facing forward so the turret was rotated to face backward. I was told this by a German tourist who was a tiger drver in the Schwere Panzer Abteilung 503. He was a passenger on my tour bus when i was driving tours in the 1980s.

You see what I mean!

    That's interesting to see 311 abt 503 1944 I'm building RFM full interior of 311 503 kursk 1943 with the rare turret basket notek light bracket on front plate what's completely different for a tiger many weird and wonderful things on it all from original photos! I know it went on and was stripped and 311 later then had this square basket but was taken out very fast it was definitely cursed lol alot of people say the abt 503 Eastern front RFM kit is heavey flawed whare it's not but it really should only have the decals for 311 and it does say in the box ausf E whare as 311 was an earlier H1 with no S mine brackets etc same as 503s RFMs kit you can build 311 to a T from everything out the box! Everything is on the sprues anyway if you wanted to build the ausf E so never seen what people moan about! It was a 2015 release my inst do have at the bottom page 2018 and has everything in the box as the first 4 of there kits did! I've just bought Whittman's Newer kit from RFM with the clear turret and hull etc but again it's the exact same kit as 503 with a new clear hull n turret throw in and alot more PE for the S mine mounts! I have alot of good books very old ones on original photos and detail diag off each tiger and panzer devision when and what was changed from 501 to 505 detail to the max! The book is now 100 bucks on ebay insane just yesterday I bought it many moons ago at a show for 12 bucks! The modellers guide to tiger 1its fantastic

    Oh.... and the odd few sets of Friul tracks for them.... so I'm waiting with baited breath to see your vid on just how you get on building those! No pressure, then! 😜

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a few links together, i think I just need to find a tool with a very small tip to jam the pin in and then i can cruise along. I'll try not to take too long.

    • @markpearce9619
      @markpearce9619 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Adam Mann Top dude, Adam! ... on the pointy stick thing, AND a "How I got on building my Friul tracks" vid.
      I hope you weren't offended by my suggestion, Adam? Only felt inclined to offer the suggestion as your vids are so engaging, educating and informative in every other respect.
      Slightly puzzled at your need for a pointed implement to "jam the pin in". At the risk of teaching my grandma to suck eggs 😈, I take it you are using a micro drill bit (slightly larger than the diameter of the wire) to 'clean out'/deburr the holes in the links first ? Yes! OF COURSE, you are. Dumb question!
      Cut wire pieces a few millimetres (1/8th inch?) LONGER than needed; use tiny pliers on the extended bit of the wire to jam the 'pin' into place; CA glue the pins in place, then when cured, snip off the excess pin length? Incidentally, have you checked out Paul's YT vid on building (and burnishing) Friul tracks? Looks a really good technique.
      Happy track (and models!) building 😎 Mark

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mark Pearce i should have clarified, i was taught a glueless method of making friuls by a guy at my armor modelers club. The pin is cut basically to length, pulled out a bit, bent to have a 30 angle a few millimeters in, and then jammed back in. The tension of the wire holds the tracks together. I'm trying it out but jamming the bent pin back in is a little unrefined, so I need to perfect that part.

    Great review Adam, very informative , all around good detail on catching all the little ins and outs.
    The road wheels look tricky thank you for the insight on that

    Anyway excellent, thank you .

    Awesome review as always! I do really like how you explain the history of the kits and what's based off of what; it's really helpful. I'm a sucker for Dragon's zimmerited kits and this one looks damn nice, though that's more your doing! Superb job on the build. I should really build a tiger lol I've seen that 6252 has a ton of extra goodies in there in metal and pe and stuff, and you're saying 6600 is exactly the same, just better boxart? Dammit, Dragon!

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Panzermeister36 Thank you sir, long time no see. e careful though, 6252 as it was released in 2005 had goodies. 6600 is the rebox without the goodies, and now 6252 has been re-released without the goodies, making it basically 6600. If you want to build a Tiger I say go for a Zimmerited one like 6383 or this one. Or honestly one of the new early kits as they're a notch above with slightly more updated parts. The tracks in all of these kits though are no good.

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adam Mann You should do a tiger GB sometime; the StuG one was awesome! And then I'd actually build a tiger. I love tigers but i just seem to have no motivation to build one....I'd have to find a really badass camouflage

    Are you going to do an update after painting? Did you do Carius' 217? Would love to see it done. Have this one in the stash along with just a few more. That's what the wife thinks anyway. Great review. Keep em comin.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +gmphillips1 I most certainly will. I think I'll try to film the finishing process. I'm going to go for a 101st SS Normandy with it, like 332. I will do Carius 217 with this kit in the future, but it has some special bits like the late front hull extensions and early tracks. I try to get these videos up as much as I can but as I've made them more complex it's harder to get them out. We all hide how big our stash really is by the way.

      35059 is the afv club workables. Kaizen or Friul work as well. Kaizen I just tried and eally like which runs about $20 plus shipping, Friul is about $40.

    So... "I use this thing for cutting down trees!" That must make you an ace arbrologist, or an intrepid tree surgeon, then? 😜
    Just one *TINY* (and hopefully constructive!) observation, Adam. It's not always obvious EXACTLY which part or detail you are referring to when you just tap it with your finger on camera (examining the sprues, for example)
    I noticed at one point in this video that you used a "pointy thing" to indicate where you 'hacksaw into' the side fender/supports, and I am duty bound to report that this worked really well, for this particular viewer, at any rate. Cool.
    I know it can't be easy, playing duck-'n-dive with the dang camera between you and what you are trying to show, but maybe you could consider trying out a bit more of the "pointy stick" thing to help out us (relative) armour newbies? Got any old airbrush needles with bent tips just looking for a new role in life?😜
    Great vid, though, and especially liked the "and here's how the build went" tailpiece.Cheers.
