Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiast. I contact each person who send me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up what happened after what we see on their video. Voice over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

Only if thats Tesla's own plug. Plug from EV station can't be locked.

I was going to ask the same thing. Type 2 cables usually lock on both ends, apparently because some people thought it was funny to unplug EVs just for the heck of it...
You can buy a little locking ring that goes around the J1772->Tesla adapter that prevents this. You can only disconnect the J1772 plug if the adapter is released from the car. Good for public locations.

7:17 It’s not just a Prius thing. It happened to me at a casino. Where a Model 3 pulled up next to my Model S. Unplugged me and plugged themself in.
A hour later when I left, I simply unplugged them and put the charger away. Luckily I had enough charge at that point. Still made me mad, upset that someone would do that. Granted, it’s free charging. But they don’t know at what state of charge the car is in. As for payback, well it’s payback.
Cutting the stems off their tires would be payback.

Shove a paper clip in his charge port latch. He won't be able to plug in until he gets it repaired it's hard to remove without scratching the crap out the sides.
@Antonio Zamudio If it was a Tesla charger, yes it will be locked into the Tesla. However in this case the J1772 adapter was required. That part is the part that gets locked into the Tesla. Which is fortunate, because that’s a $90 item.

I designed and 3D printed one that fits the chargers around my area. I wish I had more variations available so I could adapt it to other chargers.

Shove a paperclip inside of his charge lock latch. He won't be able to plug it in until he gets it repaired. It's really really hard to remove the paperclip without disassembling the whole thing.

Now that I think about it, I may have been frightened by the “Tesla Laser” a while back...🤣 Tesla’s at the time were very uncommon for me to see and I definitely wanted to check it out, and I honestly thought the owner was around and they were the one flashing the lights! Definitely works for what it’s meant to do though.

dont hate but on 7:04 afaik you cannot unplug the charger unless the owner is nearby or if the car is unlock. how could the guy easily unplug the charger?
Public non Tesla chargers are J1772 and Tesla's need an adapter. The adapter stays locked to the car but the J1772 charger will be able to be unplugged.

Tesla should (optionally) play that laser sound through the Pedestrian Warning speaker when Sentry Mode activates.
The "Tesla laser" should be optional. Some people take it as an accusation and find it offensive, even those who had no interest in the car. We've seen that happen here and it's not the first time I've seen it aggravate someone who decides to vandalize the car.
I specifically turn my sentry mode OFF if I expect my car to encounter a lot of innocent pedestrians, such as in a crowded parking lot. I wouldn't do that if it would just record quietly, alerting only if the car is physically touched.
It never occurred to me that Teslas would lower car theft for them AND others... another benefit unknown to most!

6:59 This is a problem with the type1 connector, where the lock/release is in the handle of the plug.
Using type2 in Norway/Europe, the lock/release is controlled by the car.
It is not possible to release a type2 plug without authorized access to the car.
These connectors can be locked into the car. A pin in the inlet port prevents the release catch from raising.
@@BogeyTheBear J1772 doesn't require the vehicle to lock in the connector, but some vehicles choose to employ some form of locking, and others don't.
I've heard about J1772 being unplugged at public chargers, even other EV drivers stealing the cable to charge their own car. (Never had J1772 myself, and I don't remember the models in question).
There's no J1772-CCS in Europe. I would expect those models to probably have locking mechanisms, because DC charging is higher current and more risk of arcing if unplugged with current.

The J1772 to NACS adapter supplied from Tesla doesn't have a locking mechanism.
This can easily be rectified with a locking ring.

I was at my doctors appointment yesterday, and I walked in front of a parked Tesla Model Y, to get into the building, and the headlights flashed. Of all the Tesla's I've seen, this was the first Tesla I've seen it's headlights flash, indicating that it was recording.

Anyone feels this laser flash might violate others’ personal privacy
What may be more irksome is that the cameras are recording all the time, and sentry mode is actually saving video prior to the warning flash. It's one thing to flash a warning to folks to inform them that they are now being recorded-- it's another when the flash warns people that their previously recorded image is being preserved.

I really can't blame the lady at 5:40 I would be pretty pissed off to somebody invited themselves to my charger with out my consent.
Her husband gave his consent. She should have texted or called him before beating on someone else's car.
I feel like she intentionally set off his alarm to summon the owner. I mean if she wanted to damage the car, she could have easily keyed it or punched off a mirror. Still bad communication between the husband an wife though

7:19 The plug has a lock but because of the J1772 Adapter to Tesla plug, only the adapter get locked.
You can find on e-bay a special collar locking the adapter to the plug.
This prevent to have someone unplugging your Tesla when using a L2 charger.
