I have had that happen, I have also had sims dislike baking for kitchen renos. I've had sims like both cooking and baking on a bathroom reno before. I remember it was bob pancakes and I stuck a stove in the bathroom just like he wanted and they hated it and didn't pay me. Now I just build what I want and get paid half the time but I feel like the objects you use make no difference with their likes and dislikes for the dhd pack. (I still love the pack tho)
I wish the clients gave you suggestions that matched what your trying to renovate 😭
if you keep talking to them their interests will change, i did it all the time as an interior decorator 😂 i’d need ti renovate a bathroom and they’re talking about hip hop

The problem with large households like this, is you can only “see” so many likes/dislikes but ALL the likes/dislikes of ALL the household members matter to the final verdict. So say one sim hates gray, loves violin, loves yellow, and fitness, another sim hates cooking (always fun for a kitchen Reno), loves gray, hates yellow, and the 3rd sim likes mountain climbing hates violin, hates brown, and the 4th sim hates white, loves jazz music and hates basics. But your designer sim only sees loves gray, loves yellow, loves violin and mountain climbing based on who they talked to and in what order. Basically all those conflicting background things will make you get a negative verdict unless you strictly balance them out.
So, go get in CaS and take a look at the like and dislikes before starting. That way, you can avoid things that are disliked.

I think the biggest problem with DHD as a pack was that the career uses the then new Likes and Dislikes feature, but no Sims up to that point HAD likes or dislikes, so it would assign random ones. I one time did a Whole Floor Reno project for the Goth family (before they got their update), where Bella told me she didn't like red and Mortimer didn't like black. Like.... My WHOLE RENO plan just poofed away.
This is EXACTLY why I don’t play the DHD career. I had fun being able to go all out and edit everyone’s homes, but no matter what they always hated it so I never got paid. It really ruined the mood and fun of doing the career, making the pack basically a $20 glorified stuff pack.
I’ve noticed that a lot of the reason people end up not getting paid and sims hate the reno is because no one pays attention to the part that says “no new floor tiles allowed” thats in almost every renovation. So we put new floor tiles and that’s what ends up making us not get paid. Simsie def did this here which is what the issue was.
@@KaylaWeasley what new floor tiles tho? like re-doing the floors or was there a certain amount she was only supposed to build on? because she definitely didn't go anywhere beyond the kitchen
@@KaylaWeasley no, this is a common misunderstanding. 'new floor tiles' actually means 'room tiles' as in you can't build more floor space the same way you can't build walls. changing what the 'floor tiles' look like (to wood or carpet etc) is allowed the same as changing the wallpaper. ea really didn't think through the wording on this one.
the reason she 'failed' was because of the sims' likes and dislikes. the ui is awful because it only shows some of them but all of them are taken into account for scoring. we knew that luna likes grey but she might also hate yellow and simsie used a lot of yellow for example. hugo might hate grey but how are we supposed to know and please both sims? it's another big problem if one of them dislikes cooking, cause they'll be upset about the cooking appliances even though they asked for a kitchen renovation. it's not well thought out gameplay mechanic.
@@amidnightblue all i know is every time I’ve changed the floor tiles in the room to a different swatch or different floor i’ve failed the job and every time I leave the floors as is I get full pay and tips and increase job performance.
for me personally the stuff makes up for the career being horrible lol

I wish we could make and/or delete walls. Sometimes the shape of the room is awful and makes it so hard to renovate it.
I think this should be a series. Find a really cheap gig and see what you can do with it.

A few things going against them not liking it were Stanley was uncomfortable, it was raining outside so they were all in a bad moon and there wasn't anything from their suggestions represented in the room.

I did a renovation of this house a while ago and I swapped the kitchen and dining areas the same way Kayla did! feeling a little proud that we share the same perspective 😂

I mean, they did say they like grey and there isn't much in the build. Besides that, it's a great build overall.
Maybe you should renovate some of those premade rooms in the sims. Either individually or by putting all of one style into a house first
Well... since you didn't follow the info they gave beyond grey colored metal for the lights, kitchen appliances and a rug... 🤷Or maybe it is just the game being busted. I probably would have grilled them harder about colors and decor preferences. With that you got... I would have just made everything grey, avoided black, put in knitted stuff (like the rugs and plant holders from debug), a violin and checked to see if the violin painting counted as well. At the end, I'd have pointed out the violins and knitting stuff to Jacques and the grey to Hugo. Luna and Max... Uh... try to put them in a better mood?
I think switching the kitchen and dinning room space was genius! It was a way better use of the space. I really liked the final result :)
Please do mor one off renovations with DHD! They're so fun to watch. I think it's a perfect combo of your love of budget/build restrictions as well as the sims likes/dislikes and reactions which keep it entertaining.

This give me flashbacks to the only time I tried my hand at interior design. Client liked pink; I gave them a really cute (in my opinion) pink kitchen, and they HATED it. I was over it after that 😖. I do find it fun to use a random number generator to randomize my sims interior design preferences and then design the house to that style.
I think I'd like the pack better if they only gave you interior design based likes and dislikes; like they would in real life. I mean you may in passing tell your interior designer you like painting but it isn't put down on their clipboard as one of the 3 primary facts they are going to use about your renovation 🙃!

For the record, I really loved what you did with it! The space was used better and the end results made the whole room brighter.. Amazing as always, Kayla!
It could be a good idea to talk to clients about interests, decorating styles, and favorite colors with the normal, non-gig dialogue options. You can write those down as additional notes about the gig. If you wanted to cheat though, you could go into CAS and look at their likes and dislikes. It's so weird how few things they will like and dislike. Just one like and one dislike chosen at random from each category... unless gigs can give them more... yet you can still fail miserably with what little official information the gig sidebar provides. It could be that people who fail use too many colors and/or styles, but it seems _so weird._ Maybe they get mad if they're not shown everything they told you they like.
The secret of a a good job is that you need at least one item or color they like so they approve your project. If you put a color one sim like but the other doesnt the will pay you but one sim wont like because they hate the color.

But with all the budget/pack restrictions she uses lately, it's getting redundant. And let me stop you-my solution is not to "stop watching." I don't understand why the people with less packs are the only viewers she makes content for anymore. I feel like she doesn't even read comments. It makes me sad

You cracked the code with that reno. I have had to do this one before and could not decipher that weird room. Congrats! The build is great even though the sims didn't like it.
I love putting outdoor trash cans inside😂 It’s so much easier for gameplay because they never need to empty the trash but only a couple of them work inside and they don’t work very well sized down or alt placed, but the Trashe Cann from Get Together is my favorite to use. It’s even covered which is rare for sims and just seems nicer.

I once took a low budget reno in the Landgrab Mansion, thinking that I could just sell all their stuff and have a great budget. When I got there all of the furniture in the entire house was gone. I used the budget to buy a cupcake machine and they loved it.

I once made a character specifically to play the DHD Career. He showed up to his first job and the client was simply not there. They left him a toddler to care for (despite them not having ANY toddler care items such as a potty or a bed), but the client was no where to be found. I did a bathroom reno, they showed up, hated it, didn’t pay him and then he went home and had a heart attack from being so stressed.
It was legitimately the most absurd day of sims gameplay I ever had.
I really like what you did with the space, boy was it awful to begin with it. That's hilarious, though, that they're angry with an awesome renovation, but were happy last time with a zero effort attempt.

The colour is not what they ask for...this happened to me one time that I renovate a kitchen and I wanted to do quite similar to the house decor but he sims did not like it.

DHD is truly my favorite pack
I used to use the dishwashers but they were more trouble than they were worth. Half the time they didn't use them and when they did it broke
