Je me souviens de l'avoir vue à la télé. Un beau et délicieux moment. La chanson et cette jeune fille. I remember that moment. All was absolutely beautiful, the song and this lady.
The guitar melody alone (or rather, two melodies at once) is hypnotic, then that deep, sonorous voice, those memorable syllable endings, then the poetic, yet somehow perfectly cinematic imagery of the lyrics hits you, then Bridget herself, with that inscrutably serious expression, then the audience, rapt in a forty year time capsule. Was this a moment like never before?
saw brigit for the first time last night in dublin ,ireland and she was incredible. she had the audience intoxicated . leo o kelly was brilliant as well. brigit was a revalation.
I like so much this singer/songwriter, and she plays very, very well. Thank you for the corrections. It's difficult to find the lyrics of Bridget St. John.
The lyric: Was it a morning like never before got out of bed, let the sun through the door went down to the sea, and pick shells of the shore dizzy with laughter, we fall in the sea nothing to laugh at just happy to be race to the shore I'm sure I'll get that long before you do whashed up like waves and blade out in the sun dreaming of things that could never be done the tide sleep again an we made our way home...
Not sure, but I keep a guitar tuned to open G (open A if you're taking a risk & tuning up) and just tried copying her fingering by messing around from what would basically be a C shape in standard tuning, dropping from from 3rd to 2nd fret on the 5th string, etc. It sounds melodic and it might be right, but I have little experience of non-standard tunings... other than that, we'd be into the more esoteric tunings like much of Nick Drake's work. A beautiful song, as you say.

A beautiful song, as you say.
If John martyn and Nico had a secret lovechild......
The tuning is DADGAD
does this mean the open notes are tuned this way, or the notes when the capo is in place?
Does anyone recognize what kind of guitar she is playing?
Thanks very much for this post, so beautiful. Anyone knows the guitar tuning for this song?
