Makes me wanna go right now Mr Gene. My dad passed away 5 years ago and this was our favorite thing to do together! Your channel brings back many memories of the good times I had fishing with him and I hope to continue the tradition with my kids. Thank you for this channel and allowing me to see someone else enjoying it as much as my dad did!!!!! (and I still do too!) Brad

I admit. There is something really fun about using lighter line. I have learned from the videos the machine posts that light line is far better for crappie and panfish. Not only that it’s satisfying to fight them on really light tackle.

Really enjoyed this video.Me and my Granddaddy use to go and he also love them shellcrackers.Remember this he always told that when you are fishing crappie and then all of a sudden start catching strip and white bass it's time to move.He said that they run the crappie out of a hole cause they are so aggressive.Keep'em coming

You had a little too much coffee this morning. I thought you were gonna fall out of your boat with your signature dance. Every spring, when the water temp gets around 50 plus degrees, we look forward to the white bass run [limit 12 per day] up the creek from Raccoon Lake. Many times we will catch crappie at the same outing.

Impressive finding Crappie in this cold water. I tried a few days ago when ice covered the creeks, and I couldn't get a bite - after 3 days was proud of finding a half dozen bluegills, I saw an otter on Guntersville for the first time and he dove down and caught a huge shad - his fishing skills were way more successful than mine LOL! I like to fish for white bass in August / Sept when they are schooling on the surface -- always used a silver spoon on a bass rig but this video makes me think it will be fun this year to try a natural minnow crappie jig on light tackle. Thanks RG!

Gene even though I love to bass fish, I thoroughly enjoy this video. Love your passion for the crappie. As I get older I'm going to have to switch to crappie fishing, it doesn't seem as hard on the old body! And I have fished since I was a lil fella. I have fished for trout, walleye, bass, smallmouth and the bluegill. And saltwater fished too! Love it all.

Moderate retrieve, then pause 1 second and raise rod tip slightly will get you bites too. What a big bass bit my 1/16oz but sadly lost due to brush and rock. Bass crushed white crappie jig with white grub worm, and sadly, my line broke when Big Bass rolled on its back as it bit. 😢
