Mr. Gene, I am new to your channel and just wanted to tell you something. I am 40 years old, and used to go fishing with my uncle and cousin a lot when I was a kid. I loved it. Then I got older and stopped one day... maybe around when I was 18 years old or so. I don't know why really, and I didn't even realize it at the time until years went by and I thought about it. The memories had faded about how much fun I had fishing so I didn't really think I was missing anything. Now I have a 7 year old son, and a 5 year old daughter who went on their first fishing trips recently and each caught their first fish. One was a bluegill and one was a black crappie. They were SO EXCITED and love fishing already. My love for the sport came back that day even though I didn't fish a single bit myself. Just watching them have so much fun filled me with joy. I hope to keep the love alive in them so it never dies out like it did with me. Those will be treasured family memories for a lifetime. I really enjoyed this video, and the others I have seen from you. I have already picked up valuable tips to use on our future trips. The part I think I like the most though is how nature, and the fish are respected in general. We are catching and releasing everything and I am hoping to engrain these rules into my kids at a young age. #1 Always have fun (whether you catch something or not) #2 Respect nature and the fish (treat them well) #3 Hold onto your pole tight when you cast and make sure you know where your hook is at all times! lol Thanks again for your valuable tips, I look forward to more of your videos.
I have a buddy that lives down in south TX where he has lots of places to fish and does it a lot. Crappie is his main fish and I told him about your channel. Don't think I know of a better place to get the best facts of fishing. Thanks for the wonderful channel and you being you. Only person you can be. Keep up the great channel we Love it!!
I grew up on the creek. My dad took me on my first week long canoeing and fishing trip when I was 5 years old! He has taught me so much about the outdoors and fishing. He is 66 and I STILL learn something new from him everytime we're together. I said all that to say this: Outside of my own papa, Gene, you have taught me more about fishing than anyone else on earth! We love your videos because when we can't go fishing, we feel like we're out there with you! And you're such a good teacher.
Again RICHARD. Thank you for letting me mark a thing off my bucket list!! This world needs more people like you my friend!! LIVE FOR THE THUMP MY FRIEND!!
You are world famous Richard. At least here in Kentucky.I was on my local Facebook fishing group yesterday. One of the guys was using a blue tail lizard soft bait to catch Bass. He said that he learned that trick from your videos. The comments filled up with people singing your praises. You make a difference young man. Keep up the good work.
All the Fishing shows I've seen in my life and loved as a kid until now, whether it's Freshwater, Salt Water, Ice fishing or open water. Richard you are My number 1 favorite. Like other people say, it's just good for the soul to watch your videos. I been fishing anytime I can even with everything that's going on in our world right now CUZ It's GOOD FER YA
Mr. Gene, I'm still fairly new to fishing and have been so inspired by your videos and attitude towards the sport and conservation. You and your videos are the best sir!
I love Richards video's so much. they're a breath of fresh air from other popular channels that have loud music and click bait. him and Ndyakangler are my relief from some of those other videos and channel's.
You are amazing!! Just a good ole boy who loves to fish!! I can definitely appreciate you and your passion for fishing!! So inspiring!! God Bless you Richard Gene!!
That is such a gorgeous place to fish . . . Im totally jealous ! Catching one slab after the other is a big plus too ! BUT , I still love it whether Icatch anything or not. Great Video Mr WOOOOO !
We can tell you really love to fish...just as i do..thanks,for shareing your trips, secrets, youve learned...they really help,a country guy-to have more fun on the water...god bless..
Another great video . When I was a young guy on the Texas coast I use to put sewing thread on my Mitchell 300 go down to the marina and catch rat reds. It was a lot of fun.
Learning to catch crappie this year ,Caught my personal best 2.01 lbs just under 16 inches. WHOOO! No numbers yet but bigguns! One here one there but nuthin hardly under a lb.thanks for the channel.
Was great to see another video released. My favorite channel. Always appreciate your enthusiasm and sharing your experience with us. If you happen to think of it next time you’re using a similar setup, can you show how you rigged your float? I noticed you weren’t using a slip bobber, so I couldn’t tell if you’re using it pegged or what. I’d like a better method than using the spring type bobber clipped to the line. Thanks Richard! Take care. I’m up here in a winter storm advisory. Terrific. :(
I'm a beginner so dont take this as gospel but I have watched ALOT of Richards videos an noticed some times he uses a balloon for a float to help keep your fish in good shape.. not sure if that will help in any way but fig id let ya know incase ya haven't seen those vids.. have a blessed day 🙏
Thanks for the video, Richard! Was just on the lake yesterday after a front had rolled thru-was very slow! I told myself I might need to down size and this was a confirmation . Happy Easter to you and your family!
Sure wish I could ride with you just one day, been fishing bout 60 years, but learn a little bit every time I watch one of your videos. ( Most of the time)
I know you didn't show it on this video but thank you for the dental floss / super glue tip. I added it to all my small soft bait body set ups and it has really helped.
Happy Easter Richard, yes I'm from Tampa and caught triple tail before they are delicious, I'm east of Tampa now but have fond memories of my friend and I fishing Tampa Bay , and we fished the Tampa by- pass canal catching nice crappie and giant shellcrackers
I've had the same experience. I usually downsize to a trout magnet and they won't touch nothing bigger than that. Always love watching your videos. Keep up the good work.
Good video! Love watching your videos and seeing what rod and reel combos you fish every show is different. I looked up those rods you are using there I believe it is what is called a major craft truzer. Japanese brand. They can be had on eBay for 300+. For anyone that wants one. See several comments of folks saying they want one.
Dang, i can imagine fighting these fat slabs on the Major Craft feels pretty good Mr. Richard! I only got one 12 incher with it, out of a thousand fish.
Nice outing, good stuff. Sometime you have to down size to get em to bite. They were all posted up on the bank. Way to get after em. Keep the film rolling 🎥!!!
I have been enjoying your video's. Thanks for the tips. Our company is closed, because of this virus. I have been taking advantage of the time, by fishing. Keep up the good work, God bless you.
Ive had several ailments in my lifetime, took numerous medicines, for different things ,im convlnced that being outside and fishing is by far the the best medicine for the human body and its freeof charge.
I have been trying to find crappie on Old Hickory Lake in Nashville. Tried channeling my inner Richard; just can’t find em! It doesn’t help that I’ve got a small boat and often don’t feel safe exploring the lake due to wind or boat traffic and wake. But I go fishing when I can and take a kid. They have fun and so do I!
Your show is “ Soothing for the Soul” . Continue on Dear Friend.
