  • How Good Does Drop Tuning Sound on the Whammy DT
    Today let's see just how good the drop tuning sounds on the Whammy DT. I bought this pedal because I'm a huge fan of the classic Whammy as well as drop tuning and I really wanted to see what this baby could do differently. The drop tuning on this pedal sounds very tight and natural, it's hard to really tell that your guitar is electronically being drop tuned. The new effects as well as the new momentary switch really help broaden the capabilities of this new Whammy iteration. With the momentary switch you can really lock well rhythmically with your music now, you can even switch tunings on the fly. The limits are close to endless with the Whammy DT. How good does drop tuning sound on the Whammy DT? Great! I love it. It's my new favorite pedal.

However I think it best blends in progressive bands/artists style. E.G. Dream Theater, Rings of Saturn (hate space metal). What do u think of down tuning with Whammy? How does it behave with additional pedals in the signal chain?

    • @DustinAlford
      @DustinAlford  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The old Whammy used to buffer the signal and give your pedals an extra boost in juice, this new one however doesn't. From my experience I always have it as the number one pedal in my line to get a pure clean signal and it just works as an extension of your guitar and really doesn't effect your other pedals as much. It does sound cool when you do combine pedals with this such as a flanger, chorus, or delay.

    I just sold a Whammy DT. I wanted to use it as an electronic Capo to sing in lower registers of songs that were too high pitched for me and for female singers when I play the guitar, trouble is when you shift the pitch up or down at low volume you can hear your guitar out of harmony with the Whammy and it's irritating. If you're playing loud in a band you probably won't be able to hear your guitar out of harmony and you should be alright. I'm not in a band anymore so I didn't try that. It also changes your guitar sound, it doesn't sound as good as it did but it's not bad. The dive bomb effect is pretty good but doesn't work too well as a whammy bar vibrato effect when playing surf music etc. I found only 3 useful things on it which weren't that great and not worth the price they're asking; the dive bomb, the 3rd octave and the 4th octave I think, listen for the only two octaves that are in harmony with your guitar, the rest are out of harmony and you'll need to play louder so you won't notice. These are not worth the price they are asking. I payed $245. to get 3 mediocre effects and not the effects I have hoped for. Don't buy it, you will be selling it soon!

    • @DustinAlford
      @DustinAlford  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your perspective. I definitely agree with you on hearing the dissonance between the guitar tuning and the whammy tuning at lower volumes.
