He slapped his son because he was out of order and wasn't listening. His dad knows what Sonny is all about and he could see the influence that he already has on his son due to the fact that he never raised his voice at him until he met Sonny and his crew. It's called respect your parents because if Cee was that brazen, at that age , to disrespect his father then there's no respect for the law, teachers or anyone that's an authority figure. Parents nowadays reward behavior like this with trinkets or with toys then when that child gets older he expects the same treatment from the world when he or she gets out of pocket. Lorenzo was just slapping him back into reality because he knows the world is cold and they will do so much worse than a slap for disrespect.

Fun Fact: From my understanding........Chazz was trying to sell the script, but no one would buy it because they didnt want Chazz to play the role of Sonny. Chazz was doing a 1 man Broadway show of the script, where he was playing every single role and one night, Robert De Niro saw the play and went to Chazz green room after the show and they made a deal and Chazz also got to play Sonny.
I like your reaction videos and wanna recommend you check out "Mi Familia/My Family" which is a more family centered version of Blood in Blood Out, but its amazing and has half the cast of Selena and Blood in Blood Out, including, J Lo, who played a role in this movie before she played Selena.

This is based on Chaz life. He did witness this murder when he was a kid. Chaz birth name is Calogero. He was doing a one man play back in the late 80’s early 90’s and DeNiro came and seen it and they made a deal to make the movie. The story of how this movie was made is incredible. I’m not going to go into it because it would take a while but there are plenty of interviews with Chaz and he talks about it. The best interview is the one on PBD’s Valuetanment channel.

He told Chaz, I'll produce it make it act in it, as long as u act and direct in it. And history was made! Sad part is, what happened to C. He had the world in his hands, but threw it all away. He did this, Crimson Tide, a couple other huge movies, could immittate DeNiro perfect! But hung out with the wrong crowd, and went away.

Dad was solid in this movie. Sonny wasn’t inherently a bad guy, but you don’t allow a child into a bad place where bad things happen, then try to give them “advice” when you could’ve just let them stay out of that scene in the first place. Dad tried to avoid all of it from get go whereas Sonny only started caring after he got what benefited him. At 33 i am fully aware of where dad was coming from and stand by his decisions 100% minus the dating outside of your race thing.

So many life lessons lol 17:39 growing up in Brooklyn, we were always told, "You'll understand when you get older" cuz there's no easy way to explain to a kid what the mafia is, how they work, what they do, etc. Lorenzo literally said it in the beginning: "It's not what you tell him. It's what he sees. The money, cars, clothes." The life is intoxicating and easily influences a lot of people, especially kids. That's how henry hill ended up working for the mob. Also during the boxing match, you know damn well that when the mafia offers you something, they're gonna want something in return.

I LOOOVE this movie! Chaz Palmenteri , during interviews, admits to the scene about witnessing the shooting, but gets evasive about other details, claiming most of it is fictional. Which is okay, of course. “ The saddest thing in the world is wasted talent “. I will NEVER forget that. And the soundtrack is outstanding !❤

This is top 3 mafia movie. Sonny was great, he helped raise C become a better man getting an education from school & the streets. De Niro's character was a great father & he didn't see how Sonny was helping C be better than him.

Sonny was teaching C not to be a douche, but c's father knows better. He knows what life sonny lives. They both mean well just different methods. And that girl (no matter what color) is so beautiful.

The thing about Sonny and "C" is that there's a dichotomy between these two men talking to C. Each man is not perfect obviously but, you can see that somethings being taught by either adult is good and bad. Just because he's a criminal doesn't mean everything is wrong or all right. You can learn something from ANYbody.

You have to remember that the 1960’s were completely different times especially in parts of New York like the Bronx,Brooklyn and othe predominantly Italian neighborhoods. A mixed couple during those times was very rare. Sammy Davis Jr was with a white woman but was forced into marrying a black woman for a year because his album sales would have dropped drastically. I’m 46 years old and I was raised that love is love and it doesn’t matter what color someone’s skin is. If you’re in love then you’re in love. It’s good that times have changed but racism still exists all over the world which is sad. Nobody is born a racist, that horrible shit it taught unfortunately. Once the older generation stops teaching the younger generation to hate people because of their skin color then maybe we can grow as a society and put things behind us that don’t even make sense. But even in 2024 look at what these political parties, media are trying to do. Separate is because of our skin color, religious beliefs and other differences we have. To me that’s what makes us humans amazing. The difference. Imagine how boring it would be if we were all the same? We humans are capable of such wonderful and amazing things. But we are also capable of such disgusting and devastating things like wars and killing each other. There have been killings and wars since the beginning of civilization. I think that it’s time that we evolve and move forward. Like The Beatles said “Give Peace a Chance “.
