God okay so Biz is 100% a mega creep and awful and Adaine was so right about him, but I'm so glad that they didn't leave him dead. Especially with them finding out that his memory had been modified. I love the complicated and layered characters Brennan creates so seemingly effortlessly. Because I bet you Biz really was on their side when they were first working together and was happy to be their hacker, but then his memory got modified so he thought that trapping the girls in crystals had been his scheme all along. And it speaks volumes that he didn't question it and went forward with it and kidnapped more girls, but it also doesn't erase that he still felt he was on the team's side before and after the memory mod. I feel like that wasn't acknowledged by everyone in the group but then again Biz is a creep who needed a HUGE wakeup call so it doesn't really matter lol
I don't think him not questioning his "new plan" should reflect on his character. The spell is extremely potent it seems, especially as it's shown in sophomore year. It's way more insidious than being dominated or charmed, because how often does one question their own memories without them being challenged first? Adaine telling off Biz for being cringy (which was as far as it went until he was memory spelled) was mostly warranted, but ultimately unhelpful for correcting that behavior. You can't tell someone that they are awful and unappealing and leave it at that if you want them to change, because without direction they'll fall into their old behavior or become even worse out of bitterness. In the end it came off as her just being mean to him instead of actually trying to help him (which I'm sure is what she wanted). Somewhere there's a world where they got Biz to talk to Jawbone and improve his attitude.
@@Cmbtsnpr Well said. I also sympathized with Adaine, but the way she approached him didn't seem constructive. (Although, that was very in character for her.) I hope they find Biz the help he needs.

@@voidify3 exactly, why is it adaine's responsibility????? i get so annoyed at these takes. yes, we can feel bad for biz in this situation, but that doesn't mean we have to blame adaine (who has done nothing wrong), or even the gang's more extreme actions as they were UNDERSTANDABLY horrified given the information they had

Brennan is such a wordsmith! Even without the (absolutely amazing) minis and terrain, I’d still be able to picture it perfectly
I’m posting it on this episode to not spoil the last, but Riz taking the crystal by acting on board was such good a good performance that not making him roll a deception check seemed completely fair
i KNOW i thought exactly the same thing. murph really did bury riz's reaction under glee
Best part about that? Earlier that episode Riz found out that his father acted as a spy, infiltrating the armies of evil people because everyone assumed that of course the goblin would be evil. Riz did almost exactly that by pretending to be on board with Biz, thus following in his badass father's footsteps.

In love with the idea of Fabian expressing fear by saying, “Are you terrified? I’m quite terrified,” at an above-average volume.
Lou's complete shock and disbelief at the amount of dice Brennan rolled to attack Gorgug is one of my favorite parts of this episode
I like that he took the hangman to the surprise (I assume) of brennan but hes just such a fucking incredible D.M. that it became a pivotal part of his arsenal and didnt affect the game negatively
The Hangman has been such an essential character this season and we have Brennan to thank for it
I love that Brennan seems to have made it a “Hangman arrives 3 rounds after Fabian calls for it” kind of thing, so it almost always shows up “in the nick of time”
After I noticed the regular calling for the Hangman, I was worried that it would start to interfere with things and I wondered if reasons would be contrived to keep it away. But it has definitely turned out just fine.
@@BradTheAmerican I think it would definitely be problematic if the party were powergaming but it's just such a nice flavourful artifact to have for a party doing their first campaign and getting a taste for fantasy RP. I'm glad it stuck around because the character in the bike is such a gem.

I gotta point out my favorite moment in Fantasy High, Riz just losing it and full on torturing Biz. Cause I for one can absolutely see how Riz gets so close to saving the girls, has to say goodbye to Penelope like that, and he feels like he was so close. I feel with Riz where he has all this knowledge of how interrogation works, and when he was put in front of Biz, which is another factor you really can't deny, who likes that guy, and decided "The Ball is current on break right, you'll be dealing with Bad-ss Goblin"
plus he was being protective of adaine. it's so sweet (in a dark way) 😭😭

@@Cmbtsnpr I mean you can't exactly expect a 14yo girl with an anxiety disorder being creeped on by a 17-18yo (he's a senior at the school) fedora tipping proto-incel to constructively be his therapist and deradicalise him. Would someone constructively being his therapist have helped him? yes. can adaine be reasonably faulted fro not doing it? no. Also when she was like "actually you dont have much to offer" she was cancelling the team's tentative plan to exploit his crush on her to manipulate him, and that plan would have been much worse for his ability to trust people and have positive relationships in the long run
