I've got an '06 rubbermount and selecting second gear was dificult when I bought it when going up through the gears.
I bought it from a H-D dealer and there were a few other problems - the rear tyre pressure was 65psi and the clutch was badly adjusted.
Put the ture pressures right and adjusted the clutch but it still didn't like hoing into second... so I took the primary cover off, draining the oil out first and found out the problem... there was 3/4 of a gallon of trans fluid in thete !
Sorted that and no more problems !
Wow that is 3 quarts in there. Way over filled. You are correct for sure. That would certainly cause a shifting problem.
In this case fluid is correct and clutch was adjusted spot on. I really think all the shifter pawl hardware needs to be replaced but I am about over this bike LOL. Thanks for watching and for the helpful input.
@@NoRulesLifeGarage I don't blame you for 'passing her on' - the trap door gearboxes were OK for lower power bikes but they can't handle serious mods to the engines at all.
