  • Just got this synth a couple of days ago and haven’t had any real time with it yet so thought I’d just get a jam recorded and see where it went. This synth really reminds me of the ARP Odyssey in the sense that I can’t predict where it will take me, this one was fun!

    I love the picture. And the use of the Edge as a drone synthesizer is effective and unusual. 😊

      Thanks dude! Yeah I’m a big fan of that movie and the jam was my second day of owning that synth so I was kinda feeling my way around it for the most part, it’s a nice piece off gear for sure!

    Dude, awesome use of envelopes and tempo in the beginning to create that ambience. Great blending into the rest of the jam. I love that you used this instrument in a unique way.

      Thanks dude! After this jam I understand it a lot better now that I've watched it back a couple of times, like why am I working the FM dial when the first oscillator frequency was set at neutral therefore not affecting the sound 😂. I've always been a fan of running LFOs as hard as they go to kinda create harsh voices and the step sequencer here does a similar thing, really cool effect. This is one of those synths where it's different every time you sit down with it, I really like it.

    Absolutely one of the best two hundred bucks a synth can deliver, in terms of versatility.

    • @streetdoghanoi
      @streetdoghanoi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think so also, it’s use case is very focused to percussive noises but it can be pushed much further than that. I’m looking forward to the last of the Moog Stufio clones being released (the Spice) as that was always the most interesting of the trịo for me.

      @@streetdoghanoi If you get the opportunity, I highly recommend trying it in combination with a Eowave Quadrantid Swarm. That thing blows the Subharminicon out of the water, in terms of what sounds it can produce.

      Thanks dude! I didn't keep the Edge for long, its a great piece of gear but in practice I found it too unpredictable for what I'm doing just now. I see it's appeal though, the sound that can come out of that thing is really cool!

    Amazing. Really interesting, how you use the Edge. This way of playing it is new to me, and its totally awesome. Ive never considered using it for a drone that blends with a sequence. It sounds dark and suspense. great. Thank you :)

      Thanks dude, I was really just messing around and wanted to see what it would do at full speed 😂 I'm very new to it also, I'd only had it for a few days when I made this. It will be designated to more techno orientated duties for a while but it's nice to know where else it can go musically.

    Wonderful jam! I was alway wondering about getting a DFAM (or now the Edge), also to push the machine into these wonderful drone/ambient territories not so many people are aware of (another example is the Korg VOlca Kick: despite the name, this is a wonderful and super-powerful bass synth able to generate some mayhem drones). Only problem DFAM are a bit too expensive (I always look at the second hand market) and Edge is sold out everywhere at the moment (with waiting times of weeks or months in some cases)!

      Thanks Josh! When I put it in a mix I’ll probably play it more normally and play to its strengths but when I use stuff solo I like to see where an instrument can go. It’s also how I learn the gear so in most solo jams I’m new to it and don’t really know what im doing. This thing just makes cool noises huh.

      Hey dude thank you for that! Honestly this was a day two of owning it jam and you can see me turning dials that aren’t affecting stuff because I don’t fully understand it when I recorded this. I actually sold it on because I keep a kinda gear in gear out policy so the hobby doesn’t cost me too much money but I did really like the Edge, I just can’t see me using it in a live scenario. My only intention for this one was to max that bpm clock and see what noises I could get out of it, I dunno, I just felt it maxed out at a high enough speed to do some cool stuff, the rest is pure exploration. Check out my other stuff if you like this though dude, I make a lot of unnecessarily long jam videos 😂

    Thank you for the interesting video!!! : ) I want to get my first Behringer synth and I'm wondering if I should get the Crave or the Edge ... What would you recommend for a fist synth?

    • @streetdoghanoi
      @streetdoghanoi  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@BPEMETO actually my favorite is the model D, is just a monster synth. The Crave I had and is good for melodic stuff and the Edge for noise/techno.
      Honestly if it’s your first synth buy used and save for a Minilogue XD. It’s amazing and it’s polyphonic. That’s where I started and the logical layout of the panel plus the fact is has great onboard fx just let me get lost in noise and understand synths. But if you must chose between the two you listed you’ll learn more from the crave but you’ll explore more in the edge.

    • @BPEMETO
      @BPEMETO หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@streetdoghanoi Thanks for the reply! The thing that I want to do with the synths is mostly without an external keyboard so I'm not that interested in cords and polyphony that much. I want just to turn knobs and make interesting patterns and sequences and rhythm... Like in our video. : ) I just bought Arturia Keylab Esential 49 mk3 and it comes with a lot of software synths so I'll get this kind of sounds that way. : ) By the way when I get the Crave and the Edge and may be the TD-3-MO ... should I look into buying Model D or Neutron?

    • @streetdoghanoi
      @streetdoghanoi  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BPEMETO can’t speak for the Neutron (heard it’s awesome) but everyone should try the Model D, it’s just one of the best synths and you need good bass which it delivers so it has a place in your list.

    • @BPEMETO
      @BPEMETO หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@streetdoghanoi Hi. Sorry to bother you again, but I just found out about Arturia MiniBrute 2S The price is less than the Crave and the Neutron together. Would you say that it is the better choice to start with semi-modular synths?

    • @streetdoghanoi
      @streetdoghanoi  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BPEMETO wow I’d never even heard of it hit a brief skim on google tells me it’s wild. I think it’s a good option but I’m speaking based on looking at the panel, you have to decide if you like the sound because at the end of the day the sound is the most important thing.
