    I realized I said bedroom "soot" again in this one instead of "sweet" for the word 'suite'. Does anyone else say it that way? Is that a Texas thing or just a me thing???🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

    • @rachaelkasper5445
      @rachaelkasper5445 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I've always heard it either "set" or "suite". "Set" was for regular people but new and simple and nice and "suite" was super fancy and expensive.

      In the south there’s many ways to say things “Suit” and “Suite” are both correct. I’ve always said Suit, like a suit you wear.

      I think it's a Texas thing, my friend from fort worth told me ( we were going to some lake to go swimming or tubing I forget which ) that if I got into trouble I was supposed to say "hep me, somebody!! Hep me!!" Cause if I said help like a Yankee no one would pay attention 😹 the guys were just so cute. Don't tell my mom I said that.

    I've always enjoy redecorating my dollhouses when I get new pieces or think up a better or more interesting way of setting things up, so I often don't glue things. For the wall fixtures and such, I find a small piece of painter's tape always works decently for me. It sticks for a while, but won't ruin the wallpaper of the house when it's all done.

      @@BentleyHouseMinis It seriously rocks. I haven't dabbled in minis, but I hope to sometime in the near future - I want to do an ongoing Hogwarts with all the rooms. I'm a little nervous, I am an instant gratification person, so I am working on gearing up for a years-long type of project! Also I have a super small house lol, not sure how that will work. But I'll make due. You are an inspiration!

  • @delish2334

    I don't make miniatures but I'm too a very crafty person. So I 100,000% totally understand the emotion and learyness to gluing down and making things permanent in your Addams family home. I feel that same emotion/learyness after making a piece of jewelry, I trust myself to wear it because I know if it for whatever reason it breaks that it was my doing/fault weather it's natural distress or my own shotty craftsmanship. I know I could easily fix it and it's no sweat off my back. However if it was a piece someone was interested in aquaring from me and it breaks in their care, then there's that feeling like "ooooh my baby, I'm so sorry!" and then I have the feelings that they may lose faith/trust that I don't make quality work.
    I love the paintings you've made for lurch! Even the print outs are nice! And the paintings around your work space!💕
    I really think the puffy paint for texture and dimension on the picture frames are genius! I love the extending ceiling lights you use for working on your models.
    How genius to use a keyboard vacuum cleaner!
    I'm a new subscriber and I can't wait to watch more of your videos!

    I want to decorate some miniature walls now.
    Here's an idea to try, using very thin ribbon to decorate a picture frame or mat. I was watching another youtuber years ago and she was framing these huge diy christmas paintings for her church. She used 6in velvet ribbon to frame or mat her paintings. Looked really great. I would like to see if it'll look good in minature. One day I want to just try a bunch of different things in minature. The other youtuber was Garden Answer and Laura did amazing work.

    I glue somethings in, but I love having the choice of changing things around. Most the time for paintings an pictures I use poster tack.. I love your videos, they help me with so much stuff. So thank you for sharing your talent with all of us.. stay safe

      Bentley House Minis mine falls off also, it normally dries out, that’s why I have found why it falls off. But b4 I take my minis to a show I make sure I have a new tack in my stuff. That is unless it’s something I now will never be mover then I glue it in or on.😉

    My witches room box had a billions pieces...bottles, books, candles, skulls, scrolls, critters, etc. I used Aileens tack it over and over to place the items. After a couple months of staring at the placement I was ready to permanently glue items down. Just pulled off the tack it glue and used tacky glue. No damage to item or surface, especially good for items I decided to move to another spot

      I've used museum putty in miniatures before and I ran into the problem of it "melting" after a while and ruining a few of my wooden pieces and wallpaper by leaving behind a sort of oily, sticky texture. I'm not sure if it was user error or the type I used, but it didn't like me very much.

    Ara, museum wax works great. It will not ruin your wallpaper or finish on the furniture. Its similar to poster putty.

    • @elizabethworley7073
      @elizabethworley7073 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was just coming to say the same thing. If it is safe enough for historic objects, it should work here and it lets you reposition and move things as you change or replace stuff.

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will probably use museum was here and there as well.... but for some reason (maybe it's the Texas weather) temporary fixes don't seem to stay put for me. Could also be the finish on my walls? not sure. But everything I have ever put up with putty or wax as fallen. The museum was will be great for keep the furniture in place though... and then I can move it around still ;)

    Sometimes I glue, sometimes not. I have some minis (cut crystal decanters, glasses, hand made hair brushes, toothbrushes, etc) , that were very expensive and I cannot bring myself to gluing them. Of course, they are the ones that sporadically "jump" off their little tables at the drop of a mini hat.

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand that. I think that's why I could not glue on Gomez's desk ... it's Bespaq and one of the more expensive furniture pieces on there. Might just leave it unglued👍

It’s called Mini-Hold, described as a “wax adhesive for miniatures…will not stain surfaces or dry out”. Just do a Google search. I found it a few places, but not on Amazon.

    Please do a final tour at the end of the month; I know we never saw Cousin It’s furnished room, and would love one last walk through, maybe with Thing as the tour guide. ;0) The mansion is amazing!

    This house is just absolutely fabulous!! Regarding the glue vs non glue: I might glue a small little scene like you did on grandma's table, but I just cannot bring myself to commit to fixing furniture etc in place for eternity lol :D

    Love this! The house really looks more alive with all the art on the walls
    Also, I thought the brush strokes from the mod podge made the pictures look like they were on canvas. However, I also love how *shiny* the uv resin is.

    For things staying at my house and not going anywhere, I usually use museum wax. I've made some gift room boxes where I had to glue - it was so scary!

    This is the most wonderful project I've ever seen. Your process of deciding what to glue and what to leave free to move or change really helped me with my glue-phobia with interior decor. For me, it does depend on the "theme" of the house. For my 12th scale, I left quite a few things movable unless they were super tiny and would get lost. Other things, I used tacky dots that are easily removed but keep things from sliding around as I move the display. I did much the same for my 1:16th scale house. For my quarter scale house, since it has a specific theme, I'll be gluing pretty much everything down. Your attention to detail is amazing and makes me want to go back to look at my other projects to see if I need to add little sensible touches where needed. Thank you!! This was a lovely video.

      Thank you Rachael! I think once I gave myself permission to pick and choose what I got to glue down (instead of just EVERYTHING😮) it got a bit easier! And I def understand gluing down quarter scale... I can't imagine trying to get anything back into place in those tiny houses lol!

    If you're having problem with the working time of hot glue, you might consider something like Gorilla glue, which sets quickly enough to support small pieces without too much holding time, but not quite as quickly as hot glue. Another choice would be rubber cement, which allows you to peel the item back up without damaging either surface (usually, and if you use care).

    Incredible work as always . The Addams caricature in the dining room is my favourite , feels like Gomez paid a cartoonist to do a family portrait as a gift to Morticia . I like the creepy cloth around the movie poster as well . Great video to start the Halloween season .

    Whenever I'm hesitant to glue something permanent, I like sticking a bit of masking tape (the type that comes off easily and the good quality that still comes off easily after a while) as a "base coat" and stick whatever needs sticking to that. Thinking again and connecting it to a dot I just saw in your vid, I find the sticky end of a post-it note would do as well. It may fall off some day, but potraits falling down in my doll house is not too a risk (in my own hobby of building pond yachts, where bits coming off may spell serious trouble, I only use it for temporary jigs during the build).

    I'm glad that you've finally committed to a few things, and decided to glue things down. One of the things we artists have to get over is our fear of moving forward. That can be crippling to achieving our goals. These fears are normal though, and I sympathize with you, Ara, because I still get them sometimes to. With me though, it's usually in regards to inking a drawing that I've done. Inking is always a gamble. Even though I'm a highly skilled inker with decades of experience, I still stress that I might mess some aspect up, and that sometimes makes me want to put the inking stage off. In my business though, things are deadline-centric, and you can't put things off too long. I find that the best thing to do is to just jump in and get started. Once I'm in the middle of inking, I become more comfortable, and any anxiety I was feeling goes away. I'm sure that's similar with committing to gluing thing down for you. Once you've done some of that, it's easier from then on to make things permanent. At least I hope it is for you. :)
    Thank you for another great video! I really enjoyed seeing all of the excellent wall art that you chose and created! You made that "cake icing" decoration look so easy around the picture frames! Really nice work!
    Please allow me to leave you with this, Ara. Perhaps it will help give you some extra encouragement: www.lostonwallace.com/Wednesday.jpg

    Ara, you are absolutely amazing. I am a lifelong miniaturist, (now 83,), and your videos have given me many new ideas. Your creativity is just never ending. One thing I thought of while watching this particular one. (and someone else may have mentioned it or you may be shown using it elsewhere), but have you thought of using miniature or earthquake wax as a secure but temporary hold. I often use this when I don’t want to commit but things keep falling over or when a particular piece is too precious to risk it’s being broken or when I don’t want to put glue on it, like some of my hand blown glass pieces. Over the years I have found it invaluable. Thanks for sharing your fabulous work.

      That is a great idea! I have never heard the term earthquake wax before so I will look it up and see what I can find!

      It’s on Amazon. Look up Quakehold. There also used to be a liquid called Moveable Miniatures Glue. I think it has been discontinued though.
