    The doll's-eye-view camera tour was a neat idea! It makes me think about videos I've watched of those untouched abandoned mansions and chateaus hidden away in the country sides of Germany and France. They have similar vibes to the Addams style, often!

      I thought the same thing! I love watching those types of videos and they are always a little grainy and blurry because of the low light. I will have to do more in the future ;) Thank you!

    It’s wonderful to see the mansion coming to life in this way.
    Phone cameras make taking photos in dolls houses so much easier than trying to get a full camera inside, something I did in the past. I had to smile when you mentioned the ‘view’ from outside. When I first decorated my dolls house I took a cool photo of the kitchen through an internal doorway and thought no more about it until I printed it out and used it to decorate my notice board at work. A couple of my colleagues were looking at my photos and one asked if that was my kitchen. Before I could respond the second said only if her house is in a giant’s library. That was when I realised that through the side window was a prefect view of the bookcase the house stood alongside.

    Very nice! As I once told you, when I started my dollhouse I thought I wanted to make a dollhouse because I was a weird woman. I didn't know at the time it was a hobby around the World. So I started with the idea of a dollhouse but, of course, no dolls. But the dolls arrived! The first one was just the one I was using only to adjust the size of the furniture. But she began to take life! Then, my mom brought another one. It was a doll that belonged to my sister and me when we where kids, my mother kept her as a regard and, guess what? This doll has a baby. So I decided to make a room for her and a nursery as well. And of course, there has to be a story behind the house and the dolls! Then, it apeared a wood male doll that I kept since was a kid and he became a friend of the girls that visit the house often. They play music together. And so on... There is a family living there with a hole story behind. They have a wonderful live full of music, art, books, games and joy! They have their own preferences, hobbies and personalyties and I satisfied there needs! And I take pictures of the process of building each room and of the dolls working and participating in this process too! It was not my plan but it was the plan of the dollhouse to be alive!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I felt that way at first too and then the whole miniature world opened up to me!! I have found that the dolls can take over very easily as well lol!! It's really fun to have little people for the little spaces we create😄

    LOVE the mini cam tour. You could also find a way to hold that ruler up against the ceiling, and photograph the room from the inside. Just edit the photo to turn it right side up....or tape the camera to the ruler upside down to start with. Tape it tightly with a scrap piece of wood under the front to angle it downward to get the room, but not the stick/ceiling.

    Oh, wow, another really fun video! A hint to something I use when photographing...I use ear plugs, that you get in the pharmacy, to hold things and dolls in place. You just pull off a small piece of the earplug and attach things together or to the floor. I don't like min-wax, museum wax, or mini-hold because I have had some bad experiences with them ruining things (especially wooden objects). But the earplug wax stuff works really great for photos.

I got to meet Felix Silla a couple of years ago, and he talked about them having to constantly sweep the set for dropped cigarette butts for fear he'd walk over one and get it trapped in the hair, because with all of the hairspray, the Itt costume would have gone up like a bonfire with him inside!

After I baked the "puddle" the dinosaur fit in it perfectly and now stands on his own.

    Awsome! I just re watched a whole episode of the very Eary episodes of the Addams famliy (those with Carolyn Jones), as well as some Vampiras attic episodes, this week, still just love them so much!
    I started to collect a few more items for my own dollhouse project as well. Thank for all the great inspiration!

      I love them too! There is something magical about those shows that just don't always come across in the modern shows ;) Collecting is sometimes the most fun part!

    I thoroughly enjoyed your tour. You must have experience in producing movies with the props, light, etc. The video tour at the end was priceless! I did not watch the Adams family and vaguely remember Lerch, The only other thing that I can recall was *the HAND* was that in some other version?

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Lois! I have a tiny bit of experience in theater, but mostly I have experience in dramatic photography lol. It used to be a passion! Yes the hand, Thing, should have been in here but I forgot about him... oops😮😄

    The house looks even better w the family in it and that is saying a lot because your dollhouse is AMAZING.
    BTW. This is a great video and SOO helpful. I want to photograph my house well and details. That weird camera at the end of video took nice details.
    Question: Would you consider hosting a miniature challenge? I just ordered some items from Flip That Dollhouse and want to film and unboxing but maybe you have other ideas to bring all your audience sharing and uniting during this difficult time.

    I don't know if this has already been suggested, but like you I've had a lot of trouble with things being knocked over (be it the interior or the dolls), both during building and filming. Like you I am also very opposed to gluing things down - I like the idea of being able to move things around and change them out whenever I fancy, or if I want to change the style of something.
    A solution I have found is to add the tiniest bit of sticky tack under both the furniture and the various decorations and clutter that I make. It's easy to remove, doesn't leave a mess, yet is strong enough to hold when you shift the construction around or accidentally push something. Likewise, I found it a good way to help pose the dolls, especially if they're of the 'difficult to balance' variety.
    If this has already been suggested, I am sorry for the trouble!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always love to hear suggestions! I want to do an entire sticky tack/ museum wax type video comparing options in the future. There were several different products that were suggested so I think it would be fun to test them all out!

    • @Unifarts
      @Unifarts 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BentleyHouseMinis Oh, I will look forward to that video then, because if there are better options out there I would very much like to know about it.
      Keep up the lovely content and stay safe in these trying times!

    Saw the photos on Facebook. It was so nice to be able to study each pic. You did an excellent job of photography. Also, all the miniature pieces are perfect the each room. You did such a good job with everything. Loved the dolls eye view. TFS......There's a young lady on Jeopardy this week 2-21-2020, that reminds me of you. He name is MacKenzie Jones. Is she related?

    Do u make your own miniature dolls as well? If so, do u have a video of that? They look so realistic in the pictures. They r perfect for the Adams family. I also love that adorable chandelier in the living room, just goes perfectly with the decor and house.

      @BentleyHouseMinis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I do! If you go to my Addams playlist I have a video for each doll ;) Well... I make them from a kit... but I do the wigging and dressing and everything. The kits help a lot! Thanks so much!

    Could you use candle wax to stick them to the floor or would it make too much mess? I mean the stuff that you can use to secure a candle to a holder, not hot wax itself.

    That's amazing! Thank you for explaining your photography process in such detail. Just out of curiosity, how long did the photoshoot take? I feel like every time I start photographing miniatures, it's suddenly six hours later. Posing and adjusting all the tiny things takes a surprisingly large amount of time!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It took all day and then some!! It does take time to set up the shot, balance the doll, get the accessories looking right, etc... so you're not alone in feeling that way. I was actually surprised at how long it took! Thank you!

    Ara, as usual a very fun and informative video. Loved it! How did you make the kitchen floor tiles? That is the exact thing I’m looking for, for my kitchen!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Robin! The kitchen floor is really simple... I glue 2 layers of card stock together and then cut random stone shapes. Then I glued them to the floor and did a sponge painting effect with different colors. I hope that helps!
