    For more information, see the description above on why the original was taken down.
    I've updated the video by adding labels to each segment for those who are not totally familiar with Assassin's Creed Rogue and Assassin's Creed III. My fault for capturing footage with Shay using Connor's robes.
    But anyways, thanks to everyone who supported the previous video. I never expected it to reach a hundred thousand views, much less see it trend a couple of times in the past four years it was up.

      Oh my god I love the effort you put into this.
      I was looking for a comparison like this, but before finding your video I found a lazy video where the uploader hadn’t even finished the map in New York. Amazing contrast.

      @@incrediblecaptain Thanks! Wish circumstances allowed me to continue on with the future games, but I'm glad to have spent time with all the comparison videos I made.

    The problem with Rogue is the overall vibe. New York looks like a city in a tropical land like Spain, Mexico or Cuba. ACIII is the winner, no doubt.

    • @androrobuiques9497
      @androrobuiques9497 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ehhh Spain isn't really tropical. It's much dryer than you think and it's on the same latitude as north Carolina. But yeah I understand what you mean. The buildings and the colors of Rogue's new york feel like walking around the British Settlement of Kingston in AC4's Jamaica. Or at least, New York feels like it's been having a rainy summer in rogue

      New York in 3 has the colonial aesthetic down. The texture in rogue is too colorful. Feels way out of place

      @@Mikeh2077 I wrote a whole f©king long comment and it just kind of went out as soon as I clicked off the comment (instead of saying "Discard comment?" with options) so I'm a little pissed reasonably, but I'm going to try to resay everything in a summary. God.
      "Yeah but..have you ever actually studied the era to know anyway? There was a huge population of painted buildings, from Coral to storm blue. A large color variety reminsicent to nature and birds, and available easy colors to achieve at the forefront. Colonial green, coast biege, white, pineforest, royal yellow, british pale, mauve, rosary tones like red/brick red/maroon/and a very subtle mid pink were amongst many of the conmon colors. Don't forget brick, stone colors, and wood as natural. Gray paint was probably most common, paired with a two tone window shudder and door, black or white trim color/red/yellow. I just don't get why it is so freaking dusty. It was not normal for a city at the time to be coated in smog dust, a yellow fog you might have seen in a place with high winds and a lot of sand like Nassau."

    Dude I can't begin to express how thankful I am for all the effort that you put into this. I played these games for hundreds of hours, taking pictures of landscapes with my old janky phone trying to compare the two versions by myself lol. I never understood why they had to go to such lengths to change the buildings and the whole layout SO much. I get the forts and the necessity to adapt certain areas, but I also think that it would have required less effort and time to just adapt what was already there. Nobody complained about GTA LC/VC Stories having the same maps as their predecessors for example
    Anyway, thank you so much once again!

    • @Kaine852
      @Kaine852  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you. It's difficult to speculate why the change happened and unfortunately, the official and rare Assassin's Creed Rogue art book (th-cam.com/video/Hb5hZARNZr8/w-d-xo.html ) doesn't come with excerpts from the director/concept artists. However, it is clear that the recreation of New York to be more lively and vibrant (albeit tropical due to ACIV asset reuse) was a conscious decision as seen in this gallery collection: assassinscreed.fandom.com/wiki/New_York_City/Gallery

      @@Kaine852 You're such a treasure, thank you! Since we're here, do you know what's the Black Room they talk about in the first couple of pictures from the gallery that you linked?

    • @Kaine852
      @Kaine852  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ACIDOLATTlCO Hi! Yes, the Black Room photos come from Assassin's Creed Revelations. The context here is that Desmond is in an Animus-induced coma and he's left to piece together the fragments of his mind. The Black Room is also an optional side story that delves into Desmond's past, hence why it's missable for many players. The concrete diorama of New York here is meant to represent Desmond's escape from his family, making a name for himself as a bartender in New York.

      @@Kaine852 Indeed I totally skipped that part while playing Revelations lol. I'll buy the Ezio's Collection and catch up properly once I'm done with God of War!
      Seriously though, your passion and knowledge for the series could lead this channel quite forward. It's not the first time I stumble upon your content and I always leave satisfied. I'd love to see more stuff like this, delving deep into why certain decisions are made

    do you have a link to the song that plays starting at 10:49? I searched the title you listed but i can’t find it anywhere

      @Kaine852  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry about that. The original music used was from this playlist ( th-cam.com/play/PLJ4fUEoWgusvU8BDP6gCn6ZNKYolS0RwW.html ) and had a nice cowboy journey feel to it, but due to TH-cam >_< it was scrubbed and I had to change it to this generic copyright free piano song with no title.
      I can't find the exact link on TH-cam anymore for this one as well, but you can listen to it on Apple Music: www.shazam.com/track/360934644/relaxing-calming-music?referrer=share
      PS: Don't trust the TH-cam link in the Shazam link. It's for a 24/7 radio compilation.

    I wonder why Ubisoft chose to use black flag assets over ac3. Alot of the assets used in new york look so ugly and out of place. New York in ac3 looks WAY better than rogue

    Now ask yourself why nothing at all changed in London from 1868 to 1888. The answer is because the jack the ripper dlc sucks.

    • @Kaine852
      @Kaine852  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yeah. It was released for the PS3/360 consoles so most of the Nvidia extras weren't in the game. The base game was also based off Black Flag, which was a wee-bit more stylized than III, similar to how II was more stylized than one.
